First of all, as a new user, I want to say "hi" to everyone. Not a newbie to the game, just new to the forum.

Anyway, you've probably had similar threads based on funny NPC dialogs, but I want to hear some of the random occurrances that made the dialog even better.

For example...

Jaheira just got cursed by Baron Ployer, losing strength, dexterity and I think constitution. Aerie immediately piped up with the "Jaheira, your hair is pretty" dialog. I almost fell over laughing.

Anyone else have funny dialogs that came up at particularly funny moments?

well, i had a weird situation but its not realy a dialogue.

I was at the copper coronet doing the slaver quest and i killed the beastmaster and rescued Hendak. After teh whole slaver quest was over, i went to talk to the guy, but when i tried talking to him instead of thanking me, he went hostile!

EDIT:Oops!Forgot the welcome!

--Keldorn have his older paladin talk with Anomen in the middle of his quest. Gee, Keldorn, it's really nice that you think of him when you're wife's cheating on you and all.

--Viconia's aggressive "what brought you to the Life" dialogue occuring every half-hour or so, no matter if I was talking to Amaunator's avatar, Adalon, even Ellisime.

--Getting Nalia's "we're so much better than the poor, so we should help them!" speech in the back rooms of the Copper Coronet.

--Confronting Delcia Caan with Anomen, Keldorn, and Nalia in your party. The lady just doesn't make any sense. ("Your betters" my butt. The Firecam estate ALONE could probably buy and sell that worthless old junk heap of a castle.)

Very minor spoilage

I was in the mimic cave in the Umar Hills and my crew had just spotted all those nasty (I can never remember how to spell this) Koa Toans then the screen froze and that mullet-wearing Harry Dallas went into one of the romance speeches with Aerie. I guess angry fish men just have that effect on some folks.

Nalia: "How are we helping the less fortunate tridging around in here?" in the De'Arnase Keep.

I remember I was doing the romance with Aerie and I'd just slept with her. She then said shortly after "I'm so happy you brought me with you! I never imagined we would be doing such great things!"

:D That is of course her dialog when your party has a good reputation. :D

"Now I remember why traveling with you was so much fun." -Imoen after I used Stone to Flesh on her after she was petrified by a beholder.

"Being underground is not for the Avariel" -Aerie, in Nalia's keep, right by the door to the courtyard.

"How are we helping the less fortunate trudging around in here?" -Nalia in the slaver ship, while we are in the middle of opening the childrens' cells to free them.

"Buttkicking for goodness!" -Minsc, as we are attacking the peasant that will knock reputation below 6 (and make him Fallen).

The NPCs are pretty oblivious, aren't they? :D

There was a similar thread a while back... I'm not sure who posted this, but it isn't mine.

"When stepping over her father's corpse to open the family's treasure chest, Nalia said:
Is that all? I'd hoped for more"

And Pirengle, so in your opinion meeting Ellesime would be more noteworthy than an avatar of a dead god?

Ah, who am I kidding? Amaunator is everywhere. He'll be back, baby. And it's not as if avatars of dead gods are unheard of in this game, hmmmm?

Odruith 02-06-2004 01:27 PM

I have the banter pack installed. And the funniest NPC speech thing I can remember right now was right before Aerie, Minsc, Yoshimo, and the rest of my party went in to kill TorGal..

Aerie and Minsc and Yoshi had the sword, paper, rock conversation where Minsc thinks Yoshimo is cheating and asks Aerie to make sure he isn't. Blah. Anyway, it was funny at the time. ;)

On another note, sorry to digress:

One funny thing was Deragor or whoever he was(The red wizard who hunts down the female Edwin) showed up while I was down the shade lord quest for the Umar Hills. Unfortunately, he showed up just after I'd killed the Shade Lord, but before the land had reverted back to normal So he said, his piece, never turned Edwin back, then disappeared, leaving Edwin as a female... permanently. Keldorn (been so long ago cant remeber exactly) "When men gather... I would save them all if I could"... that was in the drow city..

Jerr Conner 02-07-2004 08:27 PM

I have a whole list of Non-Joinable NPCs and most of them make comments to party members, and vice-versa. I'm about to update it then I'll reply aggain with the URL.

About that list, Carbos and Shank are assassins in Candlekeep from BG1. You had no info about them.

Illumina Drathiran'ar 02-08-2004 04:16 AM

Oh oh oh! I entered the Temple of Helm, and Anomen opened his trap:
"A base pool of corruption... Were it not for the Order, the gods would surely smite man for such sins."

Are they? I'm pretty sure the two men fighting over Bubbles were named Carbos and Shank.

The main reason there's no info is because I'm trying to keep the list as spoiler-free as possible, and since no NPCs (As far as I know) say anything to either three, no info to be had other than where to find them. I'm also including NPCs that don't say anything to Party NPCs.

Jerr Conner 02-08-2004 08:49 PM

LOL Illumina! I had something similiar with Nalia, and it looks like I'm not the only one to get it either:

In the Slaver's Compound, Freeing Slaves:

"How are we helping the poor trudging around down here!?"

Where can I get this Banter Pack? I never get much banter.

There is a sticky thread on this board with all of the various mods and links to them. It is listed there.

Jerr Conner 02-08-2004 09:27 PM

Ooops! I keep forgetting. Well maybe because I only have access here twice to thrice a week...

SixOfSpades 02-09-2004 12:46 AM

In my mind, the very best conversations are the really rare ones that can only come about through a combination of factors. One of my all-time favorite screenshots, featuring Jaheira vs. a rather emasculated Edwin:

Quote:

Jaheira- There is harmony in nature, and all things are balanced in the end. Perhaps, Edwin, you are now as you should be.

Edwin- And you would suggest this based on what? As a CONSTANTLY pontificating servant of nature you must know my transformation was unnatural!

Jaheira- Perhaps, although you never did strike me as particularly manly. Perhaps nature has just been slow in this regard.

Wellyn- ...Mama? Mama, do you know where my Littleman is? Do you have him?

Edwin- Yes, Wellyn...here is your bear. You can go to sleep now.

Jerr Conner 02-09-2004 01:05 AM

hehehe!
