Defensive spells, more or less. Enhancing spells.

Who cares about buffs! Use Greater Malison + any spell!

Stoneskin - Lifesaver. Long duration.
PfMw - Immunity to most of the nasty enemies for 24 seconds. Whee :D

PfMW - Protection from More Work :D

Seriously though, the best buffs depends on the context of the battle. Not much point setting up PfMW in spell-heavy battles for example.

What about spells that are just generally good spells, whether against physical or magical attack? Like Bless?

Improved Haste. All you really need for your frontline fighters.
Stoneskin. I've used this so often it's like a second Robe.
Mirror Image. Laugh off your enemies' Dragon Breaths with one spellcast.

LoL [img]smile.gif[/img] . Stoneskin is a quality buff. Defensive Harmony is key to cast (short duration though). I've found that Mantle and Imp. Mantle are quality. Mass Invisibilty is a decent spell to get a jump on your enemies with too.

Before any major battle, I cast the following:
-Haste
-Strength of One
-Stoneskin
-Armour of faith (On clerics and druids who have the ability to cast it)
-Aid
-Chant
-Fireshield (On mages)
-Invisibility (On the weak/low dexterity)

What is that spell you mention, PfMA, Xen? Protection from Magic Adversaries? Protection from Monster Attacks?

My Tour de France: Bless, Chant, Defensive Harmony, PfE, Mass Invisibility and Haste.
