When my C/M gets quest XP do the XP divide in both classes(like you have two people in your party) or every portion gets Y quest XP?

Lord 10-05-2003 03:33 PM

Say you are soloing and it says you gained 30,000 experience, then each class will get 15,000 xp.

Yes I am soloing...yes that is correct. But that is normal XP. What about quest?

I assume that your both portions(C/M in my case) get the same amount of XP...

And so am I. The quest experience (like the 65000 XP you get at the beginning of BG2) is divided over each different character when you're not soloing. So when you're soloing (single class or multiclass) you just get the quest XP; with multiclass you'll just divide it.... I think.

ARGH! This is making me :mad: . Oh well...

The "I think" is just a precaution so I won't be willow-slapped by Dundee, Alson, Six or some other Baldur's Gate 2 guru. I can always say: "See I said: 'I think'"

Be bold (not bald!) young padawan and take more risks! And find pleasure in being willow-slapped! And the XP is most definitely devided, else one character may receive up to three times the quest XP while it is clearly stated that character X received XP and not character X1,X2,X3...

I'm not planning to become bald, so rest assured ;) As for the subject: it seems more than logical to me that the XP would be divided. If not, I would definitely call it a bug, as you can exploit something that was most definitely not intended by the makers of the game.

Link is correct.

It's a dark and hard way that teaches you not to become bald. You need to be a member for at least two years
And it's been relatively dry over here (in Leiden) so I'm happy. And where I'm from the tables are usually inside

Normal Experience:
</font>
  • What happens:
    The total experience is divided by the number of party members, each getting an equal share. Any multi classes would then have their *INDIVIDUAL* experience split into their different classes.</font>
  • Example:
    2 member party (Cleric/Mage protagonist and Keldorn)
    Troll: Death
    Gained 1400 Experience points
    Each of the characters would gain 700 XP (1400/2). Any multi classes would then have their *individual* experience split into their different classes. In this example, the Cleric/Mage would get 350 XP for each of his classes (350+350=700), and Keldorn would get 700 XP.</font>
Quest Experience:
</font>
  • What happens:
    Each character gets ONLY the ammount they are given, they get nothing from the other character's experience. This ammount is then split intot their different classes, if multi-classed.</font>
  • Example:
    3 member party (Cleric/Mage protagonist, Keldorn, and Aerie)
    Cleric/Mage gained 35000 quest experience points
    Keldorn gained 35000 quest experience points
    Aerie gained 35000 quest experience points
    Each character would get 35000 XP. Any multi-classes would then have their experience split. In this example, the Cleric/Mage would gain 17500XP in each class (35000/2=17500). Keldorn would just get 35000 XP, as an Inquisitor. Aerie would get 17500 XP as a mage, and 17500 XP as a cleric.</font>
