I recently noticed that my chaotic neutral (Shadow Kept :D ) Stalker could not hide in shadows, could this be because of having had a mighty reputation of 4 for some time?
So now he´s called "Fallen Stalker", hmph.

I tried to see if i could find some obivious variable thingy in Shadow Keeper to change him back to a normal stalker, but with no success...

So is it because of that "Fallen" before the character class, or is this just some random bug?

Oh, and this character IS somewhat strange...
He started out as an assasin, but i found the assasin slightly too weak for my liking, so i SK`ed him to swashbuckler, he was weak too, so he Ended up as a Stalker...

1.) Rangers and Paladins require your alignment to be good.
2.) If your reputation drops too low they become "Fallen" and lose all their special class abilities. A fallen Ranger is just a fighter with little Proficiency points.
3.) There is one legal way in the game to regain your status

Legos 09-25-2003 04:16 AM

1. That´s why i have Shadow Keeper, it doesn´t give a damn about class restrictions. :D
Say for instance, why in all earth would evil people not like to learn the ways of the forest so they can better use the environment to their advantage?

2. Ahh... Damn.

3. Which is?

Rangers and Paladine are using clerical spells, therefor they must be bless by some god.

If they leave the way of the god, his wraith comes upon then, that way they lose their abilities.
Okay in case of "no shadow-hide" he god has to throw his light and not absence of light ;)

If you complete your stronghold quest when your reputation has improved you will regain your status.

Heh,so i guess he´ll be changing into a warrior then...

The stronghold quest person has gone missing, disappeared.

Fire = Hot.
Fire + Hand = Burn.

Firestormalpha 09-25-2003 07:29 PM

Six, can you be just a little less cryptic with that?

Dundee Slaytern 09-25-2003 08:02 PM

Fire = Shadowkeeper.

If you play with fire, be prepared to be burnt.

QED ;)

SixOfSpades 09-25-2003 08:03 PM

He played with fire, and he got burned. Not exactly a surprise.

Note to would-be fire-players: ALWAYS keep an archived copy of the game, BEFORE you hacked it. And if you do hack your character from one class to another in the middle of Stronghod quests, Ctrl-Q people into your party, CLUA yourself various items, mess with Global Variables, etc, then you should try not to act amazed when the game develops problems. And don't say that your game has bugs.

I did not lose the hide in shadows skill in the middle of "burning my fingers" as you seem to assume.

You did. If you hadn't shadowkept him to another alignment you would have role-played differently and not lost reputation ;)

Legos 09-26-2003 09:11 AM

I would like to say that the main reason for my reputation loss was VALEN, and her thirst for blood.
But of course accepting her into my party was a roleplaying thingy but, ah well...

And i never said i changed the alignment, i changed the charcter class.

Devv 09-26-2003 09:28 AM

So did you change thaco's, hit points, stats, manually? Or does SK do this for you? I know you can change the kit abilities and bonuses quite easily with it. I always found it a bit of a pain trying to change characters in a saved game and get it spot on right. Especially if thieving skills were involved.

moiraine sedai 09-26-2003 10:47 AM

The Hide in Shadows ability is a class feature. When a character becomes a Fallen Paladin or a Fallen Ranger they are no longer considered to be of their former class, thus they will lose all the special abilities granted by that class, eg Hide in Shadows.

Hope that helps...
