ok..i know theres been a post about this recently, but i was wondering if there are any workingm and accessable to the genral public links to DL it? i've searched over the net yet can't find a single working link for it....which sucks....
BTW BG trilogy is something that adds BG into BG2....for those who don't know what i mean...

teardropmina 09-09-2003 02:11 PM

try the BGT forum, all possible ways of downloading it are posted there,

http://www.teambg.net/forum/?board=94

I think I'm among the least computer/technology savvy people around here, but I managed to download and successfully installed it (with tons of helps of course).

the easiest way to go is to get yourself a FTP shareware, downloading the latest BGT_mark 3 thing.

Faceman 09-09-2003 03:10 PM

the ftp worked for me too but only AFTER I had already got it via IRC
IRC is slower but much more stable
however you need a little time until you get it if you are completely new to IRC (if so PM me for advice)
if you want ot try ftp be sure not to forget the username/password = bgt/bgt
and be warned that the servers are often full

the download is large and will take a lot of time but believe me it's worth it
I'm playing BGT right now (just "alt-tab"ed into IWF for a short break) and it's marvelous.

P.S.: I think they are currently trying to put it on eDonkey (a p2p network) too. eDonkey in my experience is extremely powerful but only if you get it to work properly (which is not easy and might not function at all on some machines, depends on ISP, several Windows issues, etc.)

Faceman 09-09-2003 03:13 PM

BTW teardropmina how do you enjoy BGT so far?

hmmm...I only trie it out with a test game so far, just to see what's like playing BG with higher resolution and with SoA class/kit from lvl 1!!! that's fun and wonderful. I'll try a full BGT run after I finish my current game...which is also Baldur's Gate Triolgy, in the old fashion way -- playing the same PC from BG1+TOTSC, and then SoA, finally to see the grand conclusion in ToB. I started this game before I knew there was BGT! sigh...only IF I knew... ; actually I didn't know BGT until I ventured into SoA! I rarely stop a game, let alone this epic -- I've been building my F/M since BG1! and I don't play two games at the same time. so...I'll hold myself until I finish the run. But you said it, it's really worth the trouble!

Umm For BGT is Throne of Bhaal required to already be installed on the computer?

yes. you need a clean SoA/ToB installation (no mods, but patched).

in my bgt_mark 3 installation (the easies way), the requirement is recommended install of BG + TOTSC, and a clean/latest patched SoA+ToB

Zero Alpha 09-13-2003 07:01 AM

ok ive downloaded this, and i tried it once, but it couldnt find my Baldurs Gate installation. i have installed both games on my D drive, would that make a difference. i cannot install on my C drive, as it only has 2 GB left.

(i know this thread is old, but im not gonna make a new one just for this topic)

Grojlach 09-13-2003 07:17 AM

Was unable to download it through IRC (was unable to download anything through IRC, on a similar note http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...ons/icon19.gif), but I believe they were posted on a private ftp at one point.

And Faceman, in what way is IRC more stable, then? With a decent ftp-manager, I don't really see any reasons to go through the trouble of trying to figure out how to download it through IRC.

Faceman 09-13-2003 08:31 AM

I use WSFtp and every 20mins my download went to hell and was not resumable (for what reason I don't know) for another hour. On mIRC I only had to resume twice on a 400MB download and it worked fine every time.
.
So I can't give any ftp advice as it has not worked for me so far but I'll give a short IRC guide

<font color=FFFFFF>1. Download some IRC client (I use mIRC)
2. connect to server irc.teambg.net</font>
</font><blockquote>code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">/server irc.teambg.net</pre>
<font color=FFFFFF>3. connect to channel #BGT</font>
</font><blockquote>code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">/join #BGT</pre>
<font color=FFFFFF>4. activate download by using the appropriate trigger. It's "!BGT3" currently, I think. Fi this doesn't produce results the trigger is different. Try to find it on the teambg-forums.</font>
</font><blockquote>code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">!BGT3</pre>
<font color=FFFFFF>5. get a directory listing</font>
</font><blockquote>code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">dir</pre>
<font color=FFFFFF>or</font> </font><blockquote>code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">ls</pre>
<font color=FFFFFF>6. select the directory by typing "cd FULL DIRECTORY NAME INCLUDING SPACES"</font>
</font><blockquote>code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">cd BGT MARK II</pre>
<font color=FFFFFF>7. get another listing - if necessary another directory</font>
</font><blockquote>code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">cd ONE FILE DOWNLOAD</pre>
<font color=FFFFFF>8. get the file by "get filename"</font>
</font><blockquote>code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">get bgt_distro_mark_ii.uha</pre>
<font color=FFFFFF>Problems:
a. fileserver is full - come back later
b. too many sends and queue is full - come back later
c. too many sends - you get queued. Be sure to have your DCC settings on auto-accept files and chat requests or you will not get the file
d. I'm queued but my connection timed out - no problem, once you're up for receiving the server will contact you as long as you keep your IRC client open
e. When will the send slots be free? - use </font>"queues"<font color=FFFFFF> and </font>"sends"<font color=FFFFFF> to see who else is receiving/queued</font>

Hope I covered everything. And hope for a nice BGT discussion with you guys once you've downloaded and installed it :D

WSFTP? Yikes, I can see what kind of problems you ran into. Next time, maybe try FlashFXP, to name a thing... Allows you to resume your ftp-download without a problem.
And thanks for the IRC-explanation, but when I was talking about not being able to use it, I was actually referring to firewall-related problems. But thanks anyways. ;)

Khazza Pilgrim 09-13-2003 02:46 PM

Been playing BGT for last couple months through patches and updates. The version currently out including Distro III is pretty stable with no severe game play issues just some minor bugs. Have taken a Berserker, Cavalier, Assassin, and Stalker all the way through BG and through transition to SOA. What can I say??? Am hooked on BG again, think that this the greatest Mod on the planet. When the minor bugs and distribution issues get fixed think it will be a must Mod for any die-hard BG player.

go to BGT forum to find help...that's where I finally got everything figured out and work!

Grojlach 09-14-2003 03:52 AM

Just a quick question... Are all of the patches also available through non-IRC means? I realize I haven't patched my game since the release of patch 1.7 or so... And how vital are these patches to continue the game without any major problems?

Faceman 09-14-2003 09:03 AM

All the patches are available at
http://teamae.dreamerz.tv/Patch/ (Careful, URL is case-sensitive)
They fix some minor NPC bugs but also major area bugs (e.g. can't enter an area without crashing).
Also if your patch contains a worldmap you have to start a new game for it to take effect or follow the (complicated) instruction Bardez gave on the TeamBG forum.

RoSs_bg2_rox 09-14-2003 09:22 AM

the current patch is 1.13. 1.9 is vital because it is a graphics fix for the sewers which i believe is unplayable without it.

Thanks Faceman... And yikes, let's hope none of the missing patches contain worldmap changes, though I have a guts feeling that's not the case. I'll try to read up on those complicated instructions on the TeamBG-forum you mentioned, then. I don't feel like giving up on my current game, as I've already made it as far as the Cloakwood forest areas.

RoSs_bg2_rox 09-14-2003 10:45 AM

im afraid there is. that is certainly the best place for the patches. Much quicker than mIRC

Faceman 09-14-2003 01:01 PM

patches aren't hosted on IRC anymore they are only available on Ftp or web.

RoSs_bg2_rox 09-14-2003 03:07 PM

i know. I got the last patch off of it. Now all i need is patch 1.13 although im quite near the end of bg1 now, cant wait to get into bg2
