Hey,
I lost Minsc cause I took to long in finding his lady friend.
He tried to fight me and instead of killing him I just ran away
hoping I would get him back when I got Dyn.
No such luck, any ideas ?

Go back to your oldest save and haul ass to the Gnoll Stronghold......or try to find some other warrior-type who's a good front-line man (although without the nifty rodent companion).

Or cheat and see if you can create another Minsc into the game with the CLUA Console.

I lost Minsc the same way. I tried like crazy to get to the knoll stonghold when he started to threaten. Nothing worked.

I got Kiven the Ranger instead and wound up enjoying his company a lot more.

Minsc is just a little to unstable for me.

Minsc is the definative tank amongst the NPCs. He's tremendous. He's at his best with a two handed sword. His berserking special ability is basically useless however. He goes off on his own comrades half the time. Who needs that? You can charm him back with Algy's cloak, but still, all in all his berserking mode is a pain. (I suppose if you have him heavily buffed up with potions protective spells you could send him into some situations as a berserking one-man army. But I prefer the coordinated attacks.)

I never really used Minsc as my primary Tank myself, as I've always filled that role with my main character. Really, the only things wrong with Minsc as a Tank are his less-than-18 DEX and less-than-18 CON. So he can never reach an AC of -11, so what? I never went Berserk with him either, but it stands to reason that if you've got 5 guys firing range attacks and a stoned, trippin-out Minsc going toe-to-toe, Minsc will simply attack whatever is closest--meaning the bad guys, and not your own party.

P.S. I read somewhere that "If you have Minsc in your party for the final battle, Boo helps out." Ummm.....really? I never saw/heard anything from Boo. Does Minsc have to be close enough to melee?

I know I've ragged on Minsc before now, and I still keep him in the party (though one successful grouped didn't have him), the reason being that he is quite a fun NPC to have around. It just seems to me that he isn't as good as he should be - 18 CON/DEX aside Six', I often feel that he should be capable of more. Rather than being used as target practice.http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/frown.gif Which happens far too often for my tastes. I've had fighter characters comparable with the be-hamstered one, and I fair far better than he. I guess I get a little begrudging, seeming Minsc as a potion of healing repository. That guy sure likes to drink!

Later tonight I'll open up my final battle save and import Minsc in to see. I'll trying berserking him, what the heck... (It's hard to imagine not seeing references to this all the time on the various BG boards if it were true.)

Addendum: I should have said 'CLUA' rather than 'import', as you can't export or import NPCs. I CLUAed Minsc into the final battle and he only managed to get himself killed by Sarevok when he was running around meleeing in berserk mode. He did survive for a good while before getting killed. Anyway, no help from Boo.

Whether you drive like Britain, or somewhere else in the world, the dreaded passenger seat is still the same. It doesn't matter who you have in the party, if you run the 2-2-2 party order (anyone remember party ordershttp://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif) then the "guy" in the passenger seat gets killed. All the time. Without fail. Don't ask me why, but he just does.

Think back for a minute in your own respective games, and you'll probably see that this tallies up. I even go to the extent of overbalancing my passenger by giving them all of the MI that imporve AC. To no avail: they still diehttp://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/frown.gif. I mean, you give them an AC of -1, they have a -9 missile modifier and little skeletons with darts roll 20. Every single time.

Elif, find Kevin, give him a two handed sword and a good bow and you won't be disappointed.

Ajantis (the Paladin you were speaking of) is actually a great (though annoying) character--he just needs the Gauntlets of Dexterity. Of course, so do Yeslick, Canderous, Edwin, etc, etc, etc.

I almost always use the pentagonal formation myself, with me on point and my Theives & Mages in the very back. Minsc hold the center slot, as his AC isn't as good as Kivan's or Canderous's.

Kivan actually starts out with 2 stars in Spear, so give him a Halberd instead of a 2-handed sword.

I disagree slightly, Six. Give Kivan a composite longbow +1, some bad ass arrows, and sit back and watch the fun! He's an awesome bowsman and rarely *has* to melee because of his range.

Ajantis is an idiot--pure cannon fodder. There ain't enough gauntlets, cloaks or rings in the world to improve that do-goody.

I use the inverted "v" when more than four people--bowsmen (Immy and Kivan) at the rear, tanks up front, clerics, etc (like I usually have *them*http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...s/rolleyes.gif in the middle. Works for me.

I must admit, there are times I miss ol' Hamster Boy, tho.....

I generally use the T formation. It is what has worked best for me
so far. The main problem I have is that the main charecter moves to
slow so all the weaker one's out distance him. There are times this is a royal pain but most the time it works out. The only thing I miss about
Minsc is "You point I punch " Comment. what a riot.

To clarify, I meant that Kivan should be given a Bow and Halberd instead of a Bow and Sword. Only a fool would take a bow away from an Elf with 17 DEX. He actally does make a decent Tank though, once you take him to Level 6 and teach him Large Sword. And I think that Ajantis is a fair enough Tank too--with the Gauntlets his STR/DEX/CON is 17/18/16, which is better than Kivan's 18(12)/17/14. I find that for my Tank, AC is more inportant than THAC0, because most of the damage done in my party is laid on by my archers. The weird thing is, I'm keeping Minsc, but I use him primarily as an archer--I only whip out his Spider's Bane when I need to take something down fast and hard.

Question: Both Minsc and Kivan are Level 8, and they both have 1 slot for a Level 1 spell, but they have no spells to memorize. Since this is ToSC, where Rangers should be learning spells, where are their spells?
