Hm Gangrell. Why did you provide spoilers for him ? Haldir did not ask for them. At least you could post more *`s before spoiling.

Faceman 08-12-2003 03:49 PM

and there'll be at least two other pairs in ToB IIRC
one right at the beginning

No offene, altough this is i wanted to be nice opportunity not spoil everybody just like that.

Gangrell 08-12-2003 04:02 PM

Well, if I wanted to spoil Haldir, I would have told exactly how to get them

Correct my friend... :D

frudi_x 08-12-2003 05:00 PM

there's also that pair on a certain shadow thief, but those require some skill to acquire .

What skill? You call Shapesift->Mind Flayer a skill? :D

Grammar 08-12-2003 07:02 PM

Well technically I suppose you could call it a skill. It does appear in your special abilities after all.

TaSSaDaR 08-13-2003 04:53 AM

So its a spec. ability, not skill Well, power, but still not skill You can't be not skilled enough to shapeshift successfully

Ares 08-13-2003 05:18 AM

Can someone pm how to get that pair, as I only knew of the 2 mentioned above that can be obtained through normaly playing..I'd like to know how to get a third pair o_O

Faceman 08-13-2003 06:04 AM

hey those "Boots of Lightning Speed" sound neat.
I sense a lot of cheese potential in them

TaSSaDaR 08-13-2003 06:08 AM

Wouldn't it be annoying to run, then go to inv put em off... Maybe useful for thieves only... for backstab&run-to-the-corner tactics...

Gangrell 08-13-2003 06:18 AM

The Boots of Lightning are completely useless if anyone has actually read up on them

TaSSaDaR 08-13-2003 06:19 AM

But what if you run with double speed using the boots, then pause, remove the boots, do what you need (cast, backstab, hide in shadows, rest, talk) and then again put them on and continue fleeing..

Faceman 08-13-2003 06:37 AM

exactly!
the classic thief-cheese
flee -> hide -> backstab
or the classic range-cheese
flee -> attack with ranged weapon until enemy is at melee range -> flee

works with the normal Boots of Speed as well (but NOT against hasted opponents of course)
only annoying thing with the Lightning Boots would be that you have to remove them after the fleeing step and put them back on later.

OR are they a cursed item? That would indeed make them useless.

TaSSaDaR 08-13-2003 06:42 AM

Unless you're a mage/thief and have Remove Curse Still much trouble with casting/removing through inv... But still a potent cheese item

You can get the boots from Renal in chapter 6 by taking them from his dead body (no Arkanis).

militarybrat 08-14-2003 08:16 PM

Or if you feel like doing a little bit of cheating you open the CLUAConsole and type in CLUAConsole:CreateItem("boot01")just if you don't feel like lokking for them.
