man, its been a loooooooong time since ive been here.
well anywho im at the shark god place and the king wants me to kill all rebels and the priestess wants me to join them to kill the drow.
well i think that if i go with the king, i will get all the cool stuff, but the race will die out. and if i go with the priestess i wont get the stuff and ill have to fight the king and his people probably.
first of all are my hypothosises correct or are they different than what i thought. and second of all which way should i go with?

Xen 06-26-2003 08:52 AM

I always go with the priestess.

It depends on your character's alignment and personality.
Is (s)he a brutal killer, a cunning manipulator, a heroic do-gooder, a chaotic madman or what? Is (s)he chaotic or lawful? Good or evil?

Powergaming wise, I think you are better off going with the priestess, but don't quote me.

Taran 06-26-2003 09:55 AM

i am a elven archer and im nuetral. i like to roleplay mostly but sometimes i power game just a little i think specifically im nuetral good or something like that

Xen 06-26-2003 09:56 AM

So you will do what?

Faceman 06-26-2003 10:01 AM

If you're neutral you should go with the priestess thus preventing the extinction of a race.
If you were good you could extinct them as they are an evil breed of monsters and if you're evil you could do as you please just to gain advantage for yourself.

Powergaming-wise the best choice is to kill everybody (king AND prince) to get more XP and more stuff.

Xen 06-26-2003 10:04 AM

Yes...do the quest then kill everybody.

well, dont think of the extinction of the race, cause yer only going there just only one time.but if u fell bad to make them extinct, u can also get the cool stuffs (actually the difference of siding with the prince or not is only the gauntlents of crushing) if u side with the prince (except that you r a monk, i recommend you to side with the king to get the 'gauntlent of crushing'), because after killing the king, and the prince takes the kingdom, u can also get the wave shaft by pick pocketing on the prince.

But what kind of roleplaying would that be? Powergaming roleplaying.

Taran 06-26-2003 10:55 AM

hmm good point, that would be both power gammin and role playin in one so, aww man i still dont know what to do, if i side with the prince do i still get the kings stuff that he offered me?

Minchandre 06-26-2003 11:54 AM

Not necessarily. You could side with the king, causing the extinction, and then, afterwards, decide to help them along their way. The Sahuagin are thoroughly evil. Killing them would be the choice for everyone except True Neutral (must maintain balance) and Chaotic Good (help people regardless of most anything else)

In my games the decision has always been made for me. The Prince becomes hostile before I can even talk to him. I think this is because of a mod or a bug. I'm in the Sauhaugin city right now also and I'm having a tough time with these "improved" fish sticks.

Maybe its because you forget to speak to the Priestess after speaking to the King (like I did in my last run through)...

I think it's my tactics mod like Alson is thinking. I used to use an older version but now I have the newest one with the patrollin Illyich posse. Hopefully this one will give me the option, but it doesn't really matter because I'm evil so I plan on betraying the priestess, the prince, humpty dumpty and all the king's men.
