I am having problems switching the real eggs with fake ones. What I try and do is cast Sanctuary on my cleric, and send him into the Temple treasury with the eggs. When I open the door, only the two guards turn hostile but ignore me, and thats fine. But as soon as I touch the real eggs, the the whole city turns hostile against my party. How on earth am I supposed to get the real eggs without alerting everyone? Has anyone ever done it? The guide told me that the snactuary method would work, but obviously it doesn't.

have u spoken to the women that tells u to swap them?

slicer15 06-23-2003 01:18 PM

Of course I have, otherwise I wouldn't have the fake eggs to swap!

Phaere gives you her fake eggs, and Solaufein gives you his fake ones. You're supposed to swap the real ones with Phaere's fake eggs, and give Phaere the other fake eggs for the Ritual. The problem is, I can't get the real ones without alerting the entire city.

hmmmmmmmm. Sounds bit like a bug.

slicer15 06-23-2003 01:31 PM

Well, I have ToB and the relevant patch installed...can anyone else confirm whether its a bug?

It should work if you are sanctuaried although it can go wrong with invisibility. Are you still sanctuaried after taking the eggs?

slicer15 06-23-2003 01:41 PM

Yeah, I am, cos the drow only attck my party waiting at the front gate of the Temple, and the golems ignore me all together...this won't make any difference I don't think, but its actually Anomen that picks up the eggs...my PC is a mage...

aah, i know what you mean. i tried the same thing. apparently you are supposed to kill the egg guards in front of the door. that way the city wont turn hostile. you do NOT have to kill the golems however.

slicer15 06-23-2003 03:05 PM

Aha! Kill the egg guards? So when they turn hostile when I unlock the door, the others don't notice? Thank you very much! I'll try that now!

what should happen is: 1) you approach the door visibly 2) the egg guards turn hostile AND 3)you kill them and nobody notices

Actually you have kill the Golems. They turn hostile as soon as you excgange the eggs.

Not to mention they're worth XP and killing golems is always fun! :D

slicer15 06-23-2003 05:06 PM

What he meant was it is possible to avoid the golems. The fight is not necessary. Thank you for the help, Raistlin! It worked!

Yeah, I had some nasty times with this as well. For some reason, all the Drow turned hostile if I left my party near the to the Temple. Now, I just move my entire party right up to the Egg Vault, and everything's groovy. Whether I kill the guards first or open the door first, the city stays Neutral to me.

for me the guards didn't turn hostile when you approached them.

<span style="color: lightblue">It seems to me to be a matter of killing the egg guards before they yell "Protect the Eggs!", as that sends the city hostile. In my solo sorc game, I tried getting out of sight of the others, but they still turned hostile soon after the "Protect the Eggs!"... the easiest way I found of stopping that shout, was to kill them before opening the door.
Although the answer to this may be as computer dependant as "do summons stay summoned if you rest in another area?".

The Drow door guard bug comes into effect after installing TOB - there's a fix on Baldurdash :
