Has anyone else ever found any other hidden items like the improved mace of disruption? I had never read anything about that, but my friend was telling me about it, and i'll definitely get it this time.

hehe... I'd never seen it on any walk through anywhere, even here from what i can recall. However, is there SPOILER!!!!!
still a way to make the church and the artist happy while still being able to create the improved mace? |
Nope. There's no way to make everybody happy in the Sir Sarles quest. Either you keep the item, or you give the item.

SPOIL
. . . . . . . . . . . . . It doesnŽt really matter...try giving the fake ore to Sir Sarless and keep the real one for the mace...UŽll see... :D |
well... yes. there is.
spoiler ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ get "fake" ore from the girl ore merchant. give "fake" ore to the artist, who is so full of himself, he can't tell the difference. giggle while he goes on and on about the wonders of the ore and how discerning an eye he has for purity. keep the real ore for your mace. ps: just make sure you don't have the real and fake ores on you at the same time. and don't improve your mace till after you give the artist the fake stuff. otherwise, you'll get caught out. i think the improved mace of disruption is indeed a hidden item! i only found out about it like 2 months ago, and ive been playing this game for quite a long time now(played through with just about every class except druid). just didnt really occur to me that the ore could actually be used for something else... i also thought that the elephant hide could have been fashioned into some armor because of its description.

What amazes me about this game is that every time you play it you discover something new...

But who really cares about the hapiness of that worthless bag of bones. If you want to make someone happy, the fake ore can still be given to the church. My question is, can you kill Sir Sarles? It would be fun to bash him with the Improved Mace of Disruption, to show him the finer qualities of Illithium or whatever it is called.
If you have the Mace with you and you talked to the guy who runs the forge at the docks, does he say that if you had the ore he could improve the mace? I don't recall. If not, then its definately a "hidden" weapon. |
The Mace of Disruption is fairly hidden, I can't remember if Cromwell even comments on it, but I really doubt he tells you that it takes Illithium to improve it.
One of the subtle clues that the MoD is special is it's unique picture. No other mace uses the same item picture, so you know that there's something special about it... |
If you go to Cromwell with the mace he will tell you that if you can find illuthium he will upgrade the mace so that aspect isn't hidden.

Not only that, but if you have the ore, and not the mace, he'll tell you that too.
|
Correction: If you talk to Cromwell with the just the Mace in your inventory, he will NOT mention it at all. He will only talk about upgrade potential if you have the Illithium in your pack.
|
thought so! i usually keep MoD in my inventory(in case of undead threat) and never recall cromwell saying anything about it.

That's also what happened in my game I think, I had the mace but no illithium but Cromwell mentioned it could be upgraded. Memory is a bit fuzzy though so I could be wrong.
|
Cromwell has never paid the slightest bit of attention to the plain Mace in any of my games. Perhaps you have Item Upgrades installed, and Weimer wrote in a mention of the Mace as a part of the Azuredge conversation option?
|
I have played through the artist thing several times without knowing that the ore was used for anything other tha Sir Sarles. If you just have the mace - he doesnt mention it - the first time I walked in with the ore he mentioned it when rummaging through my pack. It appears, like the assembly of the super hammer, you must have a certain key component for him notice its "nifty nature"

Just a thought about where the mentioning/not mentioning may come in--who has ToB installed? Perhaps installing it either added or subtracted Cromwell's notice of the MoD? Or maybe it has something to do with whether or not you have started/completed the Sir Sarles quest?
I just did a test with one of my games. I have ToB, latest patch, fixpack, and Items Mod. I went to Cromwell with a Clua'd in MoD and he didn't mention anything about it. Also tried it just after accepting the Sir Sarles quest and again no mention. So perhaps the quest has to be farther along (no one has even mentioned illithium at this point), or finished. I'm also still in Ch. 2, and maybe that has some bearing on it? I don't have time to run through the whole quest and check on this, but maybe someone else could do some more testing? |
Olorin, do you have Infinity Explorer? If you do, go to dialogs and find WSMITH01.
Cromwell checks if you have misc5k, the ilithium ore. He checks for blun15 only if you have the ore. I have ToB. |
I think mace of distruption+2 is not a hidden item, but there are some. They have some connet with Balck Isle's other game MDK2. I did't try it myself, but there are their webpage.
