Try Ribald's famous Secret Stash in Chapter 6.

Also you can get it from Arcanas Archives in ToB

Pirengle 05-19-2003 05:19 PM

That is, if you have the expansion pack to the original BG2: Throne of Bhaal (ToB).

According to my (limited) knowledge, there are NO scrolls of Imprisonment to be had anywhere in SoA WITHOUT ToB.

FWIW, since it's not really all that helpful, Imprisonment is listed as a spell scroll in the SoA strategy guide (unlike the Bigby spells, Wish, etc. which are only in the ToB guide), implying that it is obtainable in SoA - it just doesn't say where you can obtain it.

Just as an aside...Imprisonment is a totally worthless spell for the most part, since everything the victim possesses gets imprisoned with it! Most of the time, you're wanting the loot, so best to go with a "Finger of Death" or other spell that doesn't vaporize everything with the poor sod.

Cheers,

Heh, Sazerac, you can use Imprisonment&Freedom combo to gain multiple Xp from a single victim (dragons...), finally killing it in an another way. Or you can use Imprisonment on some demons/elementals/whatever else. Monsters that dont drop loot are ideal target for it. Myself I use it sometimes when the b****rd I target annoys me too much. Example (ToB minor spoiler):

In WK, one of the final seal's locks is guarded by a strange creature that is immune to almost any magic, has some unbelievable resistances and casts like mad. Had to imprison the annoying hmm... thing, cuz nothing else seemed to work (in my next game i used PWK on it and it worked too).

That's odd....I don't recall seeing Imprisonment anywhere in SoA, even with ToB installed. I'll have to go see Ribald again....

Alson 05-20-2003 02:42 PM

Doh! Now I feel stupid. A quick check reveals that Ribald, although being the best damn seller in the entire game, does not hold a copy of the best damn scroll in the entire game. Please accept my apologies if I misleaded anyone.

Misled. ;) And no, I'm not getting on your case. (Now where did I put my Vedran hat?)

And do you really think that Imprisonment is a better spell than Time Stop?

Out of a powergaming PoV, yes, as Imprisonment does not require any other means (spells, melee) to be lethal. Time Stop is more powerful only if:

(1) Target is immune to Imprisonment, but not Time Stop (not very likely, although some improved enemies have this habbit of raising SI: Abjuration).
(2) Target has some unique Phat Lewt we're interested in (also, not very likely in most cases).

I'll ignore that retarded "but you need to get closer!" argument, as one has to be retarded himself if his spellcaster is interrupted by melee hits. ;)

To conclude - yes, in a given common-scenario-X, Imprisonment is probably stronger than Time Stop. It's not as fun, though.

SixOfSpades 05-21-2003 07:14 PM

I'll disagree on the grounds that Imprisonment means using a 9th-level spell to kill only ONE enemy. :D True, you (probably) need to use other spells to provide the killing power to support your Time Stop, but that's what Time Stop is all about--the light show at the end!
