Right,. this guy says that one of his parents was an elf, and the other was a demon, yet he calls himself a tiefling when he should be a cambion.
How?
And why can't my cahracter be one?

Vedran 05-01-2003 10:14 AM

Because Bhaal was not a demon, and even he had enough dignity not to mate with those.

IIRC he should be a cambion if one of his direct parents was a demon, unless the demon was a cambion, in which case the demonic blood would thin enough to create a Tiefling.

Yeah, was that thing Bhaal's too?
Anyway, what about Hear'dalis? I still think he ought to be a cambion.

Unless he is acting on behalf of the confused conversation you had with him after rescuing him, which ended in you getting thoroughly confused with such simple matters as the planes.

Going by that, if he said a Cambion, it would just confuse everyone, therefore he says "Demon" so you dont have to wrack your little minds about wtf he's on about.

yeah, but if he said Cambion in the first place, we wouldn't be here! And tiefling is more confusing!

If he told you he was a demon, you would most likely kill him.

And we are here because we have minds and can read books and stuff.

Any person in the D&D world probably doesnt know demons really exist (thinks they're myths and legends and such) I'd assume, and since he isnt human himself, hed think all humans alike.

Therefore., hed assume you are as ignorant as the masses, and tell you the same thing as he has told everyone else.

After what I've gathered, though, I think it has something to do with the demon your other parent mate with. Each Nine Layers of Hell has it's specific demon, nine being the most "powerful". For a Tiefling, your other parent are mated with a lesser demon. For a Cambion, your other parent are mated with a greater demon. Or something like that. ;)

A cambion is?

If a lesser or greater tanar'ri mates with a human female, a major cambion will be born. If the father was a true tanar'ri, the offspring will be a baron/marquis. In either case, the mother does not survive the birth.
Cambions are ugly and terrifying. They am humanoid, but have pitch black skin that is covered with pockmarks and is slightly scaly- Their ears am sharply pointed and their mouths are filled with crooked, sickly fangs- These creatures often adorn themselves with spiked armor and weapons.
So this explanes why Hear'Dalis isn't a Cambion, but a Tiefling.

If you quote something or somebody, it would be nice to state who wrote it.

Annatar 05-01-2003 04:40 PM

Aaahh yes your correct Vedran, sorry about that

Note to Dundee: The cambion thing came from a previous post of Memnoch (can you add it?), thanks in advance
