Wellard...d'oh of course... my work nickname
Well'ard ... for a bit of flair when playing a blade or such Kongor... my old D&D name named after a holy tibetan mountin. Just the job for when I play a cleric. I always reccomend place names or real names, say from an Atlas or such, It gives that extra touch of realism IMO |
Adkin for my F/T.
Ellerynn when playing female characters. [ 04-27-2003, 02:24 AM: Message edited by: D*Ranged ] |

Add apostrophes for comic/fantasy effect: Er'Ic D'Ave Bo'B Ch'Rist'Op'Her Very authentic looking, I'm sure you'll agree. |

I use many different names, depending on what sort of character I play. These are some of the names I can remember from the top of my head:
Saturos Arleth Atryven Aldyne Sir Exxon Xoran Turgon Turin |
My favorite character names:
Jarxaxle Artemis Marcus Morrik Angel |
Sir Goulum
Beebs(For my Barbarian ) Ryno Sir Ryno.... |
Ethanlien
I use this a lot... or Cassius, Crassius, |
I use:
Kaeso-for a wizard Appius-cleric Adrianna-Kensai My first two are actually common Roman names. |
Brenwar
Brenwar the Green Liddia |
Kell Swiftsword - Paladin
Elbryan Stoutbow - 1/2 Elven Ranger Kronin Slipknot - 1/2ling Swashbuckler Grog Haftsplitter - 1/2 orc barbarian Sabian Steeleblade - Human Kensai |
Thorvald Bloodaxe - dwarven fighter
Kaylessa - elven ranger (tip of the hat to a substory in IWD) Feodor Catsfeet - halfling thief Fiona Catsfeet - his daughter Bannock - male paladin Darius - male mage Syngyn - male fighter Branwyn - female cleric (liked the name from BG1) Someone, a long time ago, cracked me up when they posted that they named their main character Baahl, Jr. I hurt myself laughing when putting that name into some of the game's conversation threads... That, to me, is sillier than doing something like 'Horatio Throttlebottom.' OK... I need a little lie down now. |
Alexander
Judah Robin Hood Uruk'hai (half orc obviously) Merlin are all among ones I've used in the past. I'm consdering trying to do a harry potter party (don't laugh) of mages...Dumbledore, McGonagall, Snape, Harry, Ron, and Hermoine perhaps. I'm also considering making a solo paranoid character...sorceror maybe, haven't really decided, named Dzhugashvili, assuming that'll fit (Dzhugashvili, btw, was Stalin's real name...somehow that strikes me as appropriate) |
My names tend to be nonsensical and hard to pronounce.
Pirengle Elemspere Jentner Janitzer Stompederel Vagnar Melia Shirke Damiar Choth Sarn Timerlarian Shaanal Rochelie |
Most of my characters are historical/legendary folks re-created for BG2.
Malthaussen was one of my longest-running pnp characters, so I sometimes use him in CRPG games. His charisma of 6, however, makes him a liability as a leader. (His name was derived from Thomas Malthus, author of the extremely depressing book "A Treatise on Population") For hobbits... err, "halflings," I usually go with either Mojo or Frito. Yes, I am a lover of "Bored of the Rings." A friend of mine in the old 1st edition days had a high-level wizard named Goodgulf. For dwarves, I usually go with Dworkin or Ferkin. I played D&D for a couple of years with a gentleman hight Ferkin Doyle, and thought his name was perfect for a dwarf. Dworkin seems to have an appropriately "Tolkienesque" flavor. Elves get Tolkienesque names, also. Dandhros ("Danny") is the leader of a party I'm playing now. Miriel and Muriel and two elven ladies who have been in many a party of mine. -- Mal |
I genreally use Nina (Er... borrowed from Breath of Fire) for females and Ryu(Same) for males. I also use "Grend" for fighters(and adaption of Grendel, borrowed from either Beowolf or Creatures Trilogy, take your pick) and Mia (Borrowed from from Golden Sun... Hey, I name a lot of my charactors after game charactors!). I don't ever really have the time to think of original ones.

I've never been fond of Tolkien's names for elves or dwarves. I go with a normal-ish first name and an object last name (Suren Silverstrike) or something hippy (and Rainbow tops the list). |
Sir Lancelot-Paladin
Mithrandir-Sorcerer Xen-Kensai Deadly Shadow-Assasain . . . |
Here's a few:
Malinde (current): Female half elven F/M Jatelka (first runthrough SOA/TOB): Female Monk Tethys (most memorable BG1 runthrough): Female ranger |
my favorites are:
Esta Starchild-female elven fighter (my oldest rpg character, originally a paldin and I think I got the name from some REALLY old rgp book) Lien-female human Kensai (read somewhere that it's chinese for lotus, not sure if thats true) Artor Drowgean-male human paladin (yes, bad last name) Kayl Drowgean-female human paladin (his twin sister) Serrantha M'Dor-female human druid Thaneous Redwing-male human mage Swiftus Lazarus-male elven thief (luv that name, just find it funny for some reason) Mordan Bloodaxe-male dwarven fighter Raeonna Thannelyssi-female elven cleric |
here:
Tom Tom-slayer Master-Tom Cloud ( FF7 ) Rane Zell ( FF8 ) Zidane ( FF9 ) Vivi ( FF9 ) or something fun like if someone talks to u E.G u kicked jaheira out then want her back. E.G Greetings , I am gay.Do u wish me in ur presence again? Of course the name I AM GAY lol.(this can be funny) |
"This Ring and no other was made by the Elves/Who'd sell their own mother to have it themselves..."
I use Tolkeinesque names for elves and dwarves because my pnp campaign is based (very) loosly on JRR's history. Anyway, Pirengle, you said you liked unpronouncable names. -- Mal |
I kinda like the name
Aerk for a fighter...the name originates from the movie Willow (MadMartigans friend) Zantras for a sorcererer...have a portrait from WC3 I think...it rocks (She is elven of course!!) Sir Gareth is a Cavalier...usin a modified portrait from BG2 Juraz...Cleric Chariss...elven thief (portrait from NWN) ...and the last slot is either open or used by one of Salvatores people...i.e. Drizzt, Bruenor, Wulfgar, Regis or Catti-Brie...I don´t use Regis since he is bad luck...usually I get kille by a mistake or sumthin weird! |
