~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Righty, i've already been past this bit - but didn't know it existed until yesterday (saw it in another post), instead of the underwater city i chose the mind flayer city as at the time i thought this was the only route. Just wondering if there is anything of vast interest to do in the underwater city? are there any better items stashed around? |
ADD] Maybe spoiling something, dont read if you were not speaking about Underdark and whereabouts!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . Do you mean Sahaugian (spelling??) city? if so, then it does have a pretty good item - the (in)famous Cloak of <strike>Cheese</strike> Mirroring Another one to be pointed out is a minor rod, which is of some interest to fighters (i am not mistaken!) What is the mind-flayer city? If you speak about the Underdark, the city is a side-quest, not an alternative route.... [ 04-23-2003, 04:14 AM: Message edited by: TaSSaDaR ] |
Well the only thing i thought it could be was the bit were you collect the tadpoles from the pool after beating the poo out of a Fish Prince thingy (he can take a suprising amount of pounding) - how does one actually get into the Sahaugian City? i mean as far as i know i went everywhere i could before legging it out of the Underdark.

OK, OK, we were talking about different things
There aree 2 ways you can get to Underdark from Spellhold. The first is to use Irenicus' Portal. The second is to return to Saemon (aye, Saemon The Traitor ) and leave Brynnlaw by ship. Something nasty WILL happen and voila! you are in the Sahaugian city. There is a particular statue in the Kuo-Toa city (the place where you beat the Prince). The statue of Demogorgan the Prince of Demons. Find it and do the lil quest offered (needs some wit ). The result will be frustrating, but the XP is worth it Apart from the statue, there is little or nothing else of interest there. Of course, there is the underdark exit guarded by a drow party, but they are not tough. SPOILER ahead - statue location and outcomings . . . . . . . . . . . It is located in the lower right corner of the map where the Kuo-Toans live. Have some summonning spells in order to do the mini-quest. Then some semi-tough creatures will spawn (suggested somewhere near... preparing for the fight will be a RP!). The XP from them is the award for the quest. |
Basically, when you leave Spellhold you have two choices: The voyage with Saemon or the portal. Obviously you took the portal. If you go with Saemon, you will have the opportunity to go to the Underwater city - if not, there is no possible way to get there, apart from cheating.

Hey, pcgiant, I have always thought that if you sail with Saemon you HAVE to take the Sahaugian city... And now you say that only possibility... Or were you speaking about the option top return the the spellhold and take portal route?
|
Yep, hehe done that little quest! twas a good little skirmish actually! rather like those...ah...THINGS....won't say what they are incase i ruin it for someone!

Have you tried the Improved THINGS?? I doubt I should install the component, suggestions anybody??

With the Improved Sahuagin component, they become more respectable opponents, but nothing that you cannot steamroll over.
ADD] Oh wait... not the Sahuagin, I see, I see. There is an Improved Component for those things? I thought they were pretty fearsome in the default version already. [ 04-23-2003, 06:23 AM: Message edited by: Dundee Slaytern ] |
Just noticed a mention of Improved THINGIES in the Tacktiks readme. Must be them!
I downloaded the MOD 3 days ago.The most recent version. Turns out that your version is a bit old, Dundee! ADD]Not so tough... Nothing a good berserker with some pre-buffs cant manage! Never mind a sorc :grins evilly: [ 04-23-2003, 06:29 AM: Message edited by: TaSSaDaR ] |

<font color=white> Are we talking about the Improved *<font color="#3D2F1B">Demon Knights in the Kou-Toa Lair?</font>*?
Because I lose track here... if they are, then there is indeed an Improved version of them in the latest Tactics release. </font> |
Annatar, we're talking about the Improved Mind Flayers.

Annatar is right, Assasin. We were talking about the improved hm... things that are spawned by the Demogorgon Statue in the Kuo-Toa lair in Underdark.
So, is the improved version better than the original?? Any tacktiks fan who can compare 'em? Myself I haven't got so far in my current game (the first with Tacktiks). |
<font color=white> They have better tactics and get help IIRC (Skellies), prepare for quite a hard battle (nothing shocking though) because they can be a little hard sometimes.
Not really tactics for them... just hack n' slash and watch your back.. ;) </font> |
