Whats ur guys fav spell in SOA and y? what would u use it for? Me i would choose MMM i mean juggling meteors around and scaring ppl with em would be pretty kool.Actually now that i think about it i reakon thats a really kool spell , hmm yea.

Gangrell 04-15-2003 11:11 PM

Time Stop, no contest. Why you ask? I'd be able to sleep in more often.

Angelousss 04-15-2003 11:13 PM

adhw, i love that spell

Arquendil Lorigollo 04-15-2003 11:19 PM

I'd have to agree with Melf's Minute Meteors,
it gives me that sort of Gandalf-throwing-flaming-pinecones feel from The Hobbit
If you're accepting nominations from ToB, well I'd have to say Nahal's Reckless Dweomer,
the thought of a mighty level 30-something mage using arcs of surging energy to...............send birds flying out of his robes!
Think of the power! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAaaaaaa....
Well... maybe that's just me

Tom-Slayer 04-15-2003 11:25 PM

Why in the 9 hells are there birds in his robes in the first place? does he kill stuff or is he a 3 year old party magician?

super_smasher3 04-15-2003 11:59 PM

There's not, he just summons them. That's what NRD does. It's a level one spell that has a chance to cast a higher level spell that you've written in your mage book, but it also has a chance to do something random. i.e. changing the sex of the party or summoning some birds or becoming itchy.

Tom-Slayer 04-16-2003 12:12 AM

Changing the sex of party ? that can not be a great site this list is the ugly change of sex list : aerie, korgan, jan, not anomen hes already part girl the funies change of sex would be edwin o wait no ( LOL ) minsc? or better yet BOO!

I kinda like Chromatic Orb, not a massively powerful but its saved my ass a few times - MMM is a nice spell! and fast too!

White Lancer 04-16-2003 04:58 AM

i like PW:Blind. Use it on anyone, and if it works (can't remember how it can be resisted, if at all) then they are blind, feel free to kill them at your lessure, they wont attack back.

Lower resistx2 + doomx2 + greater malison + Chromatic orb lvl 12 = A dead shadow dragon. Not always, but can take out this oversized lizard in one shot.

D*Ranged 04-16-2003 05:01 AM

Also I like breach, enemy mages get hacked to pieces with this cast on them.
(My tanks do the dirty work )

There's no point in casting Doom twice, as it does not stack.
It stacks wonderfully with Greater Malison, though.

My own choice is ADHW. Noone can count the damage I delivered upon the heads of my time-stopped enemies with that spell Of course, it needs some equipment and some preparation spells (from ToB ) to be used at its full potential, but still, even in SoA, its a great spell.

Leslie 04-16-2003 12:30 PM

Most effective low level spell for me is Glitterdust ! Miniature version of Nature's Beauty. ;) Also Slow and Emotion. :D

Zarr 04-16-2003 01:02 PM

My favorite is ADHW although without breach life would be very difficult.

LadyLuthien 04-16-2003 01:26 PM

NRD all the way.

My favorite moment with it was when I was in a confrontation with a powerful wizard, cast NRD shaped into Breach (since I didn't have that memorized), and got the, "Oops... Is that a demon?" result.

The wizard we were fighting turned his attention on the demon. They whittled away at each other. The demon eventually killed him, but had been softened up enough that Minsc took it down with no problem.

dulouz 04-16-2003 01:51 PM

my favorite changes almost every playing session. NRD is great... some of the time. i've got my wild mage into ToB so NRD works a lot of the time as desired when casting chaos sheild first.

as my fighter/mage/theif i just started on my first solo attempt through SoA, i'd have to say invisibility, haste, or slow.

i really have started to like spells that worsen the enemies stats like glitterdust, greater malison, slow, and improved invisibility(this one cast on me not them).

dulouz.

Hmmm, let's start with Hold Monster, a level 5 Mage spell. Now give it a save penalty of -2, a wide area of effect, AND have it keep on applying its effect to everything in that area round after round. Now let's even allow you to learn a level 4 Summon spell that creates monsters for you that are immune to its effects. Only one teensy downside: you can get caught in the area as well. You'd expect the resulting "Super-Hold Monster" spell to be, say, level 7 at least. But in SOA you get it at spell level 2. Yep, I'm talking about Web.

I love Web so much that it affects my character design: all my characters (even the tanks) get at least proficiency, and preferably specialization, in a ranged weapon to take maximum advantage of it. At higher levels, of course, many monsters are immune or make their save, but it's still hands down my favorite spell.

I say:
Chromatic Orb
Magic Missile
Glitterdust
MMM
Breach-don`t leave the home without it

Spell Sequencer and Spell Trigger. You can do a hell of a lot with them, and it's fun tailoring combos to deal with a variety of situations.

Xero279 04-16-2003 05:47 PM

Hehe, ide have to say ADHW. something about draining the fliuds from my enemys bodys just gives me a feeling over... power :D :D

I know what ya mean! i usually use de-buff skills in it, so i can cast it on a powerful enemy or somone with high MR or saving throws, and BOOM! they fal subject to anything i throw at em

for my minor spell sequencers though, i usualy just keep 2 magic missles em them in case im being chased by somthing :D

SixOfSpades 04-16-2003 07:44 PM

For pure comedic effect, a combination of Free Action (on me) and Grease (on everything else). :D

Boutte 04-17-2003 01:38 PM

Summon insects can really save the day when facing magic users. Touble is if it gets turned on you it can really ruin your day. I know protection spells are pretty boring it would be almost impossible to get through a lot battles without them.

Oh and lets not forget magic missile (The colors man...look at the colors)

Rapida 04-17-2003 01:47 PM

My 3 favorite spells (in no particular order are)
1. Haste I love making my tanks kill faster
2. Chromatic Orb If you get lucky this spell can wipe out strong enemies.
3. Greater Malison saving throws lowered on the enemy? thats a good thing to bad it travels so slowly.

Honorable Mention
Time Stop hehe i love this spell its just so cool
