Is it possible to Turn Undead Kangaxx the Demi-Lich?

mmkay 04-09-2003 12:21 AM

i dunno, whenever i turn undead it only deals them damage(pathetic at that.. like a half a hp) and it knocks them back

turning undead should not cause damage. it either obliterates, converts or scares undead. the knockback could concievably just be them running away.

I'm not 100% sure but i think Kangaxx is immune. regular liches you should be okay.

if u r a good Cleric, Pally. At high levels Turn Undead can just blow them up straight away!!! Its real fun just walking around and blowing all the undead up, hehe heh my Pally went into Bohdi's lair and killed all the vampires without even using my swrod!! :D

Demi-Liches are immuned to Turn Undead, or rather, they are too high-level even if you had level 40 Turn Undead.

Shadows, Skeletons, Ghouls, Ghasts, Zombies, Liches, Vampires, etc... are all fair game though. The effectiveness of your Turn Undead depends on the level of your TU compared to the level of the target.

At low levels, TU merely tickles them; at average levels, it scares them; at high levels, it obliterates them or converts them to your side.

Arghhhh!! I gotta use Turn Undead in my next game. Finished SoA 3 times without using Turn Undead (I didn't even know how to use it )

1. Kangaxx the Demilich cannot be turned at all most likely.
2. Shadows. I was always unsuccessful when I tried to turn shadows. Even if my Turn Undead level was pretty high.

Dundee Slaytern 04-10-2003 06:54 AM

Oh rest assured, Shadows can be turned. For basic Shadows, I started exploding them with a level 11+ Turn Undead.

Kangaxx the demi lich can be knockbacked with Turn Undead level 27, and slain with level 34 (if my research was correct).
Shadows are knockbacked at level 7 and slain at 10.

And Leslie`s cavalier has turn undead at level 48... :D :D :D

Kangaxx!KABOOM!!
Where???

Dont pallies turn undead at around 3 lvls lower then clerics? IMHO that is not fair because undead hunters spend their whole lifes hunting undead but cant turn at the same level as a cleric who been devoted to their gods their whole lives.

Then again i love undead hunters hehe

Vedran 04-10-2003 05:55 PM

Paladins have their Turn Undead level two levels lower than their actual level. But I guess that "Leslie`s cavalier" is probably level 50 then.

Wierd thing that happened to me once:

Was fighting a bone golem with about lvl 14 turn undead, yet he wouldnt get turned. he seemed to be taking damage from the TU, but wouldnt explode (every other monster usually exlodes). he wouldnt even run in fear. after a min or so, i just whipped out my hammer and whopped him

Kinda strange though..i was convinced it was doing damage althouht its not supposed to. i realized afterwords that bone golems must either need a really high lvl TU or count as golems.

I think that Bone Golems are not undead: they've never reacted to turning in my game.

SixOfSpades 04-11-2003 06:44 PM

The Montrous Manual states that many adventurers make the (understandable) mistake of thinking that Bone Golems are Undead, to their peril.

Yep! The clue is in the word "golem". That signifies that it's a construct through and through (even magic golums are constructions of magic)
