<font color=white> I need your help guys, on my english.. storywriting and stats for this katana I made up (I will use it eventually... just need to find someone that can make it for me )
Here is it's history Quote:
I just wanted to have katana with a personal touch and some history... I looked at several Katana descriptions in the game (CF, Sanchu, Malakar, Dakkon) And came up with this story... rather simple english.. and literally filled with typos ect. Okay enough about my bad english... I need some stats to give this sword, maybe some edits to it's story... and another name, because Sortaghion is so common (i think ) I know this is allot to ask... but I would really... like really appreciate some comments about it.. because it took me awhile to make it. I'm looking forward to see all your reactions... </font> [ 04-05-2003, 12:30 PM: Message edited by: Annatar ] |
Good story!
But, um...it's English, not Englisch :D Good to see you back on IW-apparently we had the same problem ;) |
<font color=white> Hi to you Kaltia, you had the same problem, did you?
I hated it, it took me 3 days, trying and pure frustration to get me up again... and then... it worked... ! You like the story? thx :D I just need some stats... and someone willingly to create it for me, so that I can actually play with it, in BG II that is </font> |
I've crossed out typos and errors and replaced them with the correct spelling.

<font color=white> Thx for the fix! nice of you to do this.. ;)
- Regen: Because of the wound inflicted by Kerilioco, disappeared before his eyes, suggesting Regeneration (bond with the souls within the blade) - Vorpal hit: Due to the decapitation of Kerilioco at the end, how obvious . - Fear?, maybe because the anger and hate the blade barrer shows towards his enemy... and the amazing regen rate.... that it seems the barrer cannot be killed due to this? let me know... :D </font> |
If you're going to make it uber, then slip some penalties on as well-like -2wisdom, or charisma.
I think you can dl an item-making kit from teambg. |
In my opinion, change the Vorpal to 5% (the Axe of Unyielding, IIRC, is only 10%), Regen to 2/round, and a chance to use Cloak of Fear twice a day.

Little correction on Kaltia's correction :)

<font color=white> Okay here is the error/typo free version of the story.

Statistics so far: Equipped Abilities - Regeneration (1 hp/2sec) - Immunity to fear - Cloak of fear - +2 AC bonus - 12+ Max HP (1 hp for every member of the Kiro No Cen, 12 members were killed in the village) - gain 2 extra attacks per round Combat Statistics - 10% chance of draining 1 Charisma point of target. - 10% of vorpal hit - 15% chance of Wraith of the Death (inflicting 12 magic damage, no save) THACO: +5 bonus Damage: 1d10 +5 Weight: 12 Requires: - 15 Strength - 14 Wisdom - 15 or higher Reputation, loss of reputation causes the blade to disappear, finding an other Kensai worthy enough to wield this blade. Only Usable by: Good alignment Kensai, Kensai-->Dual classed Using the Celestial Fury +3 avatar in inventory and the Rainbow Sword +5 in-game blade (color changing Forgotten Wars Item Pack katana) A nice katana, and rather powerfull... though useless when your not playing a Kensai. But some penalties on, because it's fairly uber.

I think you should remove the reputation requirements Annatar. I've had my fair share of times when doing things such as accidently killing a peasent or commoner during combat and if the same happens to you, you'll lose your katana. Also the ability penalties are a bit much, because you have to high enough abilities to wield the sword minus the penalties to it. I say make it where you must have a 15 strength, 15 wisdom, and 17 dexterity. I'm not putting down your weapon, don't get me wrong it's an awesome blade but you don't want to going overboard on penalties.

Say hello to the Swashbuckler's newest best friend. +2 APR and +2 AC fits an AC-heavy tank such as the swashie like a glove.
Or do you have some sort of nifty trick to prevent people with UAI from using the blade? |

<font color=white> Okay, good point; but you have to agree with me that the use of dark magic should come with some penalties.
Quote:
I'll try to explain my penalties (I feel the same that some are rather drastic) Stat penalties (-1 Dex, Intel, Con, Char) When someone touches the blade, they feel the pain and havoc that the souls within the in the blade encounter; the cruelty and horror the men of Kerilioco inflicted upon them. They are restless spirits.. that are bound to this katana forever Only people that can understand the blade, souls and the force of the katana... survive the touch of this might katana. 15 St & 14 Wis requirement Strength: One must be physical able to wield the powerfull blade, it take's alot of energy to use a hightly enchanted weapon of this kind. Wisdom: One must be strong physical, but without strength mentally.. the person will crumble due to the souls within the blade... constantly do they try to contact the wielder, seeking a way out of the blade; dominating the wielder. Who lacks the wisdom to resist the souls, will be dominated by the minds of the tortured souls within the blade of the katana. Ending in death and despair, for that is the only thing those within the blade seek, revenge for there cruel faith. 18 or higher reputation Lord Ao himself made it so that only those of pure heart can use the blade, knowing that someone will do good with the blade. If one fails the test of the deity.. the blade will be taken away from the wielder, and be given to another that is worthy enough to use it. Ao knowned that if the sword get's in the wrong hands, chaos and havoc will occur; one of evil alignment will surely use such a powerfull blade to grant himself strength and immens power. Lord Ao used his godly powers to prevent something like that to happen. Kensai only pretty obvious, Kensais are known to be one with the sword, they are one of the few that really understand the blade and it's power. I think I gave some rather good feedbacks about my penalties.. though I to find it rather to penalized (euhmm.. okay  ). Comments to un-power this sword, modify.. penalize are all welcome, take note that it should fit in the story I made up (so don't give it level draining bonusses ect. :D ) And I still seek someone to create this katana for me... A challenge I think. </font> [ 04-06-2003, 03:51 PM: Message edited by: Annatar ] |
<font color=white> I got 2 pretty simple questions.
1. Why is it that Mod Items don't show up in IEEP when you type in there BG II code (via SK, stuff like helm05, blade123 ect) (Sanchuuduko, CF +5, Impaler Upgrade ect.)? 2. Wich blade in the game glows purple? Because I need the color code to get Sortaghion glowing purple (darkish purple, or blue)...? </font> [ 04-06-2003, 04:28 PM: Message edited by: Annatar ] |

No, but I hope that there is an option somewhere in IEEP or the modding file (teambg) that I use, to keep other classes (even with UAI) from using this katana, no filthy thiefs playing with Sorta!! </font> [ 04-06-2003, 04:47 PM: Message edited by: Annatar ] |

|
I really don't think you should make it require a really high reputation. I mean, even good-alinged characters don't get that high a lot of times (at least I don't). I think maybe around 13 reputation required. That makes it so that an evil person can't take advantage of it, but it's not an EXTEREMELY high reputation requirement. I also really like Rataxes latest modification ideas to make it a little bit less uber. =) I think it should either be a +4 or a +5.
GREAT idea Annatar! I really like the story and the stats seem good too. I don't have an item-making tool though, so I can't make it for you. Good luck with getting it finished! =) |
I agree with Super...make the reputation requirment less, if any. I'd suggest around 11-13. Nice looking sword though! I could make it for you, but my stupid household only has internet on our Mac :( . I could make it for myself though! :D
I just have a little question of my own for someone about IEEP...when you put the item description in, do you have to put in all the abilities etc. or does it do it automaticaly. Thanks! |
in the description, you have to put EVERYTHING. ;)
|
Change the alignment requirements to chaotic good, rather than just "good" or lawful "good"-the maker didn't sound very law-abiding in the description!
|
<font color=white> Can't do that Kaltia, because it's a Kensai only blade; and kensai's cannot be of Choatic Alignment... :(
I'll keep you guys posted, I'm tweaking, adding, penalizing the blade right now so... I still have some things I must ponder about. Thx for the comments and suggestions though.</font> |
Ann, I'd gladly make that sword. But concerning the amount of time consumed by item-making (at least for me...), it is not very probable.
And the theoretical part should be finished before attempting to make it. Is the blade for good or evil character? You say it was made with the help of darkest magic, and yet lord Ao made it usable only by good. What? Why? Choose from this list: -Self-heal once per day (I don't like the regeneration) -Lowers your reputation while equipped (it is made by dark magic, imbued with blood of innocents) -Immunity to fear -Non-removable (A Kensai would rather cut his left testicle off than use another weapon anyway) -Berserk (or only a chance of berserking; same as the Sword of B.) -Aid while equipped -Imunity to certain weapons (although I would cast this out) -Shining purple blade (I think I know how I could make this) -Enchantment +3 -THAC0 bonus +4 -Damage bonus +4 |
<font color=white> I just cut 2 of my fingers, so any typos/erros in this post should be overlooked... because I miss like 2 fingertops on my main typing hand
Thanks for the preposal Vedran, I will probaly take it; because I'm working on my skill to use IEEP.. so far no real luck (I can make a +10 enchanted weapon with a ac bonus of 10 and several BAM file's, but special abilities and colors won't work) So the final stats of the sword will look like this (it's still open for discussion though) Sortaghion +3: The Essence STATISTICS: Equipped Abilities: - Aid - gain one extra attack per round (I need this one Vedran!! ) - Immunity to fear - Non-removable (good one ) - Heal twice a day. (caster only, can this be done?) - -2 con, -1 Dex. - Set slashing immunity to 50% (if total is higher then 50% it will be set to 50%, there for lowering it) Combat Abilities: - 10% of doing +12 magic damage (Wraith of the Death) - 5% vorpal hit THACO: +4 bonus Damage: 1d10 +4 (hits as a +3 enchanted katana) Damage Type: slashing Weight: 12 Speed Factor: 0 Proficiency Type: Katana Type: 1-handed Requires: - 12 Strength - 12 Wisdom - 12 Charisma - 12 or higher Reputation - level 13 Kensai class Usable by: Good alignment only Kensais (Single - Dual Classed) BAM file's - Inventory (Imp. Hallowed Redeemer, purple looking blade.. rather excotic) - Item Description pic (CSW1H34/CSW1H32, or one that fits the profile and picture.. ) - Blade (Shining Purple, this would make it look really great!) - if possible (using 20 for hilt, give it a color that matches the story... dark red... dark purple... something like that) About Lord Ao, I'm not familiar with the AD&D Gods/Deity's, I thought that was a deity of good and righteousness; my mistake, change it in a deity of good then (<s>helm?</s>) It's not an evil blade Vedran, it stores the souls of the death relatives of Corsion; he imbued their souls within the blade so he can get there strength and determinations to revenge their cruel death. He's doing them a favor (something like that) - but on a long turn... they get destructive and evil due to the endless improsinment within the blade, feeding upon the wielder (-2 con, -1 dex), but due to their inferious hatered for everything that is within this plane; they feed the wielder with in-human powers.. granting him swiftness, aid, immunity to fear (the souls have no meaning for fear, they already experienced the worst of it's kind), and total healing - because the souls within the blade will not no revenge when the wielder is death. Is this duable for you (time consuming and all?) Vedran, if not what will be canceled out to make it a not 2 much time consuming project? [add] Make the deity Lathander (obvious.... thx Kaltia :D ) </font> [ 04-07-2003, 03:24 PM: Message edited by: Annatar ] |

Ann, I would do it, but I don't have too much experience and knowledge with IEEP, either. I don't know how to make some effects:
- gain one extra attack per round (never tried that, but heard it is tricky) - Heal twice a day. (caster only, can this be done?) (Perhaps, we could copy the effect from Illmater's Amulet ) - 12 or higher Reputation - level 13 (for these two, some kind of script should be made; and I don't know how to join a script to an item) Kensais (Single - Dual Classed) (it's possible to make it usable by Kensais and dualed/multiclassed fighters; I don't know how to make it unusable for dualed berserkers and Wizard Slayers; a script is only solution here) |
Quote:
- gain one extra attack per round (never tried that, but heard it is tricky) I used the ''Attacks per 2 round bonus'' option, stat modif: 1 modif type: 0 Though this has effect that I get 2 attacks, not 1. - Heal twice a day. (caster only, can this be done?) (Perhaps, we could copy the effect from Illmater's Amulet ) I used a extension header, copied the files of the Illmater Amulet, set it to twice a day, Target type ''0'' ''self'', it worked.. it casts on itself and is usable twice a day. - level 13 (for these two, some kind of script should be made; and I don't know how to join a script to an item) Kensais (Single - Dual Classed) (it's possible to make it usable by Kensais and dualed/multiclassed fighters; I don't know how to make it unusable for dualed berserkers and Wizard Slayers; a script is only solution here) Level can be set with ''Item Atrributes'' and setting level to ''Minimum Requirements'' level ''13''. ''Usability'' turning of every class/kit except for these: - Fighter - Fighter/Mage - Kensai - Mage (all) The following can use it: - Single classed Kensai level 13 or above - Kensai/Mage 13/14 Working parts of the blade: - extra attack (actually 2 attacks, rather disappointing (adds 2 to total of attacks, 4 + 2 = 6) - Heal twice a day (wielder only) - Level 13 Kensai, Kensai/Mage only tested, worked. - -2 con, -1 dex ----------------------------- Though I stumble on other parts I have difficulties with, like - Immunity to Fear - Aid (while equipped) - Non-removable - Set Slashing immunity to 50% Help would be welcome... I have the sword hellish blue... purple was rather ugly IMO (though without the glowing effect.. but a nice mixed color of blue white light blue ect.) Let me now Vedran ;) </font> |
I used the ''Attacks per 2 round bonus'' option,
stat modif: 1 modif type: 0 Though this has effect that I get 2 attacks, not 1. Does it work? I believe it should. I used a extension header, copied the files of the Illmater Amulet, set it to twice a day, Target type ''0'' ''self'', it worked.. it casts on itself and is usable twice a day. Cool. Level can be set with ''Item Atrributes'' and setting level to ''Minimum Requirements'' level ''13''. Of course... Ahhh, it is 11:30 here, tho, and it takes its toll. ''Usability'' turning of every class/kit except for these: - Fighter - Fighter/Mage - Kensai - Mage (all) The following can use it: - Single classed Kensai level 13 or above - Kensai/Mage 13/14 I don't see a point in enabling Fighter if you disable other kits. And why would you enable mages to wield it? I'd take only Kensai and Fighter/(Cleric,Mage,Thief) and Kensai. I think that it doesn't differ Fighter/Mage of Kensai/Mage or Berserker/Mage, which would bring unwanted repercussions. - Immunity to Fear "Protection from Opcode" (Horror) or "Remove Fear" - Aid (while equipped) "Aid" - Non-removable Attributes->Removable (uncheck) - test this at the end because it is hard to check it if you cannot move it ;) - Set Slashing immunity to 50% "Reduced Damage from Crushing Modifier" Let me now Vedran I translate this as "Leave me alone, Vedran!" |
<font color=white> I'm going to sleep soon, so I'll make it a quick last post.
Does it work? I believe it should. It works but my attacks go from 4 to 6 (adding 2 attacks, not 1) Of course... Ahhh, it is 11:30 here, tho, and it takes its toll. Red bull I don't see a point in enabling Fighter if you disable other kits. And why would you enable mages to wield it? I'd take only Kensai and Fighter/(Cleric,Mage,Thief) and Kensai. I think that it doesn't differ Fighter/Mage of Kensai/Mage or Berserker/Mage, which would bring unwanted repercussions. You where right, I thougth that I needed to count those in due to the ''fighter/mage'' class. I tested it and it worked with a solo kensai (13) and a kensai/mage (13/31) - Non-removable Attributes->Removable (uncheck) - test this at the end because it is hard to check it if you cannot move it Can't find it. - Set Slashing immunity to 50% "Reduced Damage from Crushing Modifier" Slashing Modifier... ;) Thats it for me, we will continue tomorrow.. Thanks for the help sofar </font> |
A couple of things about making any item Non-Removable:
- You can never use any other weapon in that hand. Sure, you can put "charge" weapons, such as Daystar and Ilbratha, in your other Quick Weapon slots, or you could just stick the thing in your offhand, but good luck using any throwing weapons. - Once Cromwell forges the item for you and puts it in your Backpack, have a good time actually putting the sword in your hand. (Although this can be done, it'll just be really tricky.) Notice that the only Non-Removable items in the game (well, the only ones ever seen by the player, anyway), Edwin's Amulet and Nalia's Ring, avoid both of these problems. Having the sword be Cursed instead of Non-removable would be more user-friendly. |
- Non-removable Attributes->Removable (uncheck) - test this at the end because it is hard to check it if you cannot move it
should be How to make an item non-removable: Attributes->Removable (uncheck) Sorry. - You can never use any other weapon in that hand. Sure, you can put "charge" weapons, such as Daystar and Ilbratha, in your other Quick Weapon slots, or you could just stick the thing in your offhand, but good luck using any throwing weapons. That's the point. It changes the tactic and inventory management to a different level. And, if I recall correctly from Butterfingers' post, Kensais would not use any other weapon except the ancestral one anyway. - Once Cromwell forges the item for you and puts it in your Backpack, have a good time actually putting the sword in your hand. (Although this can be done, it'll just be really tricky.) Cromwell? Has Ann said that? I haven't seen it. And it doesn't fit the story anyway, in my opinion. This implicates dialog and script alteration. Notice that the only Non-Removable items in the game (well, the only ones ever seen by the player, anyway), Edwin's Amulet and Nalia's Ring, avoid both of these problems. Oh, there are more, if only Boo and the key in Chateau Irenicus. |
<font color=white> Another list to work on

It isn't there in Attributes, I got several ''?'' marks (about 15 of them) Quote:
I still like the idea that it can only be removed when death occurs (something I saw in the Forgotten Wars Item Pack), A kensai must die before the sword can be taken from him, he would rather give his life before he gives up his blade. But does this mean I can't dual wield while Sortaghion is equipped in the Quick Item Weapon Slot? Quote:
I don't have any intention to let Cromwell forge it for me, its an exsisting blade (no forging is needed). Though I do need a decision of how to put the blade in the game (loot in a container can probably be done with the use of Infinity Explorer (can it?)), because simply giving the blade with the use of CLUA or SK isn't a challenge.. It should be an hassle to get this blade in your possesion IMO. Scripting is needed then (an other thing I don't now how to do :( ) Quote:

I'm not going to go through all the torment with UBB.
It isn't there in Attributes, I got several ''?'' marks (about 15 of them) That's weird. What version of the program do you have? But does this mean I can't dual wield while Sortaghion is equipped in the Quick Item Weapon Slot? No, it doesn't (unless it is two-handed). You can equip anything in other slots, but you can't remove the sword from your active weapon. Scripting is needed then (an other thing I don't now how to do :( ) Infinity Explorer cannot alter the game in any way. I could make a script, but Alson is perhaps better suited for that. |

Okay great, but don't you think Cursed is enough? Because if its not removable, how can you put it in your Quick Weapon Slot? Quote:
Okay, thus this needs scripting? How does one create a script of this kind (tutorials, anywhere?). If we aren't able to create such a script; then we could ask Alson, though he's planning a 8 day hiking trip (saw that somewhere along IW), or maybe the Forgotten Wars forums/TeamBG. </font> |

For them to study the behaviour of the souls within the blade, to see what makes the spirits within tick? - Other place could be euhm.... loot what Kangaxx drops... - Twisted Rune - Guarded Compound (2 monster katanas in one place... hmmm ) - or somewhere trivial... where you don't expect it :D (I have no clue) Do you have any ideas?
