I looked on Kivans character (picked him up at 5th level) And he has a spell slot but no spells, has anyone else notice this/have this problem?

Aryam 09-23-2001 08:11 PM

Is he a ranger?

Xrayted82 09-23-2001 08:15 PM

Yes he is, but so is Minsc, and he is fifth level without any spells OR a spell slot

Let me add, that I have not patched the game yet, and my game crashes constantly. It was just after I observed this and tried to save that my game crashed yet again. Ahh, if only I had internet access!

Pretty sure Rangers get priest spells at level 8.

I reloaded my game and the slot is still there! It hasn't crashed since, but the useless slot really bugs me!

It's perfectly normal and not a bug - every ranger has a spell slot. They don't get spells till 8th level, but there's nothing strange about it.

From what I've heard, Rangers & Paladins get Priest spells at Level 9. I've been told that Rangers get Druid spells, and I suppose Paladins get Cleric spells; it fits better with the type of character.
Minsc's spell button is greyed out? Since a Ranger is kind of a wanna-be Druid, maybe the fact that he was wearing armor had something to do with it. Or maybe it was simply that his Wisdom wasn't high enough--Minsc isn't all that smart a fella.

Rangers get druids spells at 8th level, Paladins Cleric spells at 9th level. I remember I also had once one 1st level slot in Kivians cleric book at level 6th but of course there wee no spells to put there. Wisdom does not count here. Minsc will get one slot and spells at level 8. Never played Kivian for long but I assume it is bug since he should not be able to cast any spells at level 6 ar 7.

I think it's because of the armor
or the fact that minsc's Wisdom is too low to have any spells

a spell button is greyed out until a spell is memorized. thats why sometimes even a mages spell button is greyed out, because there never were/arent any more spells memorized.

It's simple. Once the Planet is hurt, it gathers Spirit Energy to heal the injury. The amount of energy gathered depends on the size of the injury...What would happen if there was an injury that threatened the very life of the Planet? Think how much energy would be gathered! Ha, ha, ha. And at the center of that injury, wil be me. All that boundless energy will be mine. By merging with the energy of the Planet, I will be come a new life form, a new existence. Melding with the Planet, I will cease to exist as I am now. Only to be reborn as a 'God' to rule over every living soul.

It is not the spell button, or the fact that he wears armor. It is in his priest "book" where you can change which spells he memorises from the ones he knows.
