No, no planetars but you have to suppose 60 - 90% magic resistance. All drows there have this level of magic resistance. Sorry.

Come on Xen... you worry about the Drow? Worry about the Imp. Illithids and the Imp. Eye Tyrants.. they will mess you up if you aren't carefull enough.

Though Skeleton Warriors seem to work well against Drow War Parties... ;)

Summon spells tend to bypass resistances. Other than that, use anything that lowers resistance and just keep trying (after you cast sufficient protection spells of course). But apart from two or three groups, you hardly have to fight any drow at all. Although that's optional.

These improved Mages ( especially drow ones ) are beginning to tick me off.
I dunno who wrote that script,.. but he basically gave every mage a few triggers to be protected from about anything to begin with .. and one more contingency after a while with fireshields andimproved invisibility.

So now that we have even the smallest, puniest mage completely protected .. they thought I'd be funny to give every mage atleast one imprisonment.

I have a party with no mages at all .. and am getting a wee bit sick of trying to avoid imprisonment or reload ( cant cast Freedom )

With the added drow magic resistance .. Insect plague is futile too :(

So Skeleton Warriors and Mordekanine`s Swords..

Dundee...how did you fought them???

Xen

I know, I really hate the ''smarter mages/liches'' component of the Tactics mod... especially liches who will call you back if you run away because your party is getting slaughterd... really annoying!

I had to Un-Install this specific component for a while because I simply couldn't take it with a low level party  ...

Probaly yes, because they both have high ressistances vs magic (not sure about the mordie's though hardly ever use them now a days because I don't even need to summon anymore :D ).. making them excellent summons to fight against high magic users (do you remember your Imp. Twisted Ruins fight ;) ?)

Just watch out for deathspells (don't know if they even have one memorized but with Tactics.... probaly 1 or 2 at least :D )

Summons......lots of them..... yet again... Skeleton Warriors come in mind.. (those Illithids tend to have machine gun filled with charm/pisonics/dominate ect.... most of the skeleton warriors will save vs those effects...high MR)

Don't use them in the Eye Tyrant lair though... before they even reach one of those floating orbs they will be pile of chewy-white-things-for-the-dog-to-chew-on.

Ehr, why wouldn't Planetars mop the floor with the Drow? A single one can easily take out the high level Tactics bandits (Wiz Slayer, Conjurer, etc, etc) on it's own, and those bandits are surely far more powerful than any pack of drow you encounter in the Underdark.

About the Illithid and Beholder lairs. I know it's not available to your sorcerer, but damn did my Ranger/Cleric have a field day in those places :D 8 Fire seeds and a few Deathblows was all it took to clear out both of them completely.

Oh the joy of dropping 5 Beholders, 2 Elder Orbs and a couple of Gauths with a fireball the size of a grapefruit! :D

AFAIK Fireseed is very similar to MMM...Beholders will be easy but Illithids are a diffrent story....
Xen

Rataxes 03-14-2003 11:11 AM

Fire Seeds uses the same visuals as MMM, but is in effect a miniture Fireball that acts as a removeable ranged weapon. It can be used in conjuction with Deathblow for devastating effects, much like you can combine DB and Arrows of detonation or frag grenades (though neither are as easily accessible or great in numbers as the fire seeds)

Toasted 5 Mindflayers and a few umberhulks in the Temple sewers with one shot in the same manner as well

Dundee Slaytern 03-14-2003 01:08 PM

Hasted summons will clean house with the Drow. They are the least of your problems though. Heck, I considered it a breeze to slaughter all the Drow and Improved Beholders compared to the horror that is known as the Improved Mind Flayers.

Protection from Magical Weapons is going to be your best friend when it comes to the Improved Mind Flayers. Get ready to wear that Ring of Free Action too. Mirror Image is vital too.

SixOfSpades 03-14-2003 04:33 PM

The fact that someone allegedly saw fit to give every enemy Mage at least one Imprisonment gives me pause: Since summons created by clones do not count toward your summon limit, do they still not count against your limit even if they get Imprisoned?
