I layed the traps(3 of them),summoned Kithhix, I did everything I could remember...but I failed. Thanx in advance. Cheers Oh Leslie where are you when you are needed Xen |

No Problem :D

Try laying down a pattern of cloud kills. Launching the first one just outside of their range of vision and then going invisible. Back up and launch another to get the ones who move out of the cloud. A few bottles of invisibility really helps. If one does make it across the bridge a good backstab usually takes them out.
This worked in the beholder’s lair with that large clump of beholders and gauths. The rest of us hid while Nalia bombed them and went invisible. With nothing to target or go after they sort of floated around and eventually died. |
Don't forget Iron D, beholders can sense you still and will cast True Sight.

Yes but I have Cloak Of Non-Detection Cheers Xen |
Ok. There is the easy way, and, the hard way.
You do not need Spell Turning or Deflection. All you need is a Wand of Cloudkill and the Cloak of the Sewers. Fire off a gas bubble from the wand, retreat a bit, fire another bubble, and, when the Eye Tyrants come after you, you turn your self into a Mustard Jelly and use your self as bait to keep them in the Cloudkill. They can't harm you, and, very soon, they die. If they don't die from the Cloudkill, while they are weakened it is quite easy to smack the crap right out of them as a Mustard Jelly. This works in the Unseeing Eye Quest, and, it works wonders in any beholder infested area. This is the easy way, no cheesy items from the Bonus Merchants required. |

You are a thief.... Are you a fumble fingered putz? Steal it!

The Mustard Jelly from the Cloak of the Sewers actually will get chopped up pretty badly by Beholders. It has very unimpressive resistances, zero to Magic if I recall correctly.
|
Mustard Jellies have 10& MR, so you can say ''thats crap'' :D
|
The Mustard Jelly form from the Cloak of the Sewers does indeed have only 10% Magic Resistance. Makes me wonder what that form is supposed to be good for, as the other two certainly have their merits.....
But normal Mustard Jellies, and the MJ you become via the Polymorph Self spell, do in fact have 100% MR. Great for making fun of Cowled Wizards (or Beholders, until they Anti-Magic Ray you). |
How about the Cloak of Mirrors? I know u'll have to go through SpellHold and stuff, but that piece of cloak is the best weapon u can use against Beholders... Walk around, stand still, all the beholders die .....
|
And another one of the fun things of being a mustard jelly (polymorph-self version ) against a few beholders,.. is that they cast anti-magic rays.
This usually dispells your rather slimey little weapons and effectively allows you to attack with what was orginally in your weapon-slot. My fighter/mage had a blast going throught he unseeing eye as a mustard Jelly wielding Celestial Fury and Sanchuudoku ;) [ 03-04-2003, 04:34 AM: Message edited by: daan ] |
Heh, it's easier going through the game as a slime rather than a pumped up hero, heh, who knew?
