When soloing through SoA you get a lot of exp yada yada. When I go past lvl 20 while still in SoA, will i receive HLAs? If not, when I enter ToB will I receive them for the levels i gained? (say I'm lvl 25, will I get 5 HLA's when i import my character). And if i don't get them in SoA or Tob, what do i do now? (lvl 16 in D'Arnese Keep)

I believe that if your in SoA and you pass LvL 20, you will start to gain your High Level Abilities.

Lord Smite 02-25-2003 08:01 PM

Thanks. But can you confirm this? I really need to know before i get too high of level.

SixOfSpades 02-25-2003 08:03 PM

IF you have ToB installed, then yes, you will start getting HLAs as soon as you exceed 2,950,000 EXP.

Lord Smite 02-25-2003 08:30 PM

oh goodie. thanks all

Gangrell 02-25-2003 09:17 PM

Keep in mind this doesn't include some of the new classes like in TDD (I think). Such as Guardian and Drow Warrior, they don't get any high level abilities no matter what level they raise to, which I never really understood why.

Peace

3,000,000 XP, SixOfSpades.

Malavon's Rage 02-25-2003 09:21 PM

speaking of TOB, where do you go to start the expansion? I'm thinking of getting it pretty soon

Dundee Slaytern 02-25-2003 09:24 PM

Just beat the stuffing out of the final boss in SoA, and the game will automatically transit to ToB.

Vedran 02-26-2003 10:39 AM

Yes, the first level up after you got 3*10^6 XP allows a HLA. It doesn't matter where you are.

Fighters, Barbarians, Paladins, Rangers, Druids, Mages, and Sorcerers all get their first ToB HLA AT 3 million. That's why I said "you will start getting HLAs as soon as you exceed 2,950,000 EXP."

Actually the HLAs made me think of Diablo 2...which isn't good...but I guess they are a neccesary part of the game...

Fiend 02-27-2003 09:02 AM

It may be a bug but my monk got his first HLA BEFORE 3 mil xp...

Okay, my bad. Some clarification, you start getting HLAs at a level that is 3,000,000 or more XP.

You cannot say after you exceed 2,950,000; because you have to take the multiclassed characters into account.

Bug. Monks get their first HLA at level 22( 3,150,000 XP).

Lord Smite 02-28-2003 10:49 PM

on a similar note, In the description for barbarian, it says their resistences (slashing, piercing, etc.) increase at 10% at like lvl 11, then 5 at something else and another 5 later on. (I dont know, but you get the idea). This is from the SoA rulebook, which does not take into account ToB or lvl 50 ex cap remover.

Will a higher level barbarian recieve extra resistence later on, or does it stop at what the rulebook dictates for it.

Dundee Slaytern 03-01-2003 12:22 AM

Barbarian physical damage resistances cap at 20%.

If you can't wait to start it, and don't want to finish SoA, you can import your character into ToB and start from there. This isn't really any fun though. You gain a lot of cool items towards the end of SoA.
