Could somebody plz summ them all up so I can print them out... most of them I know.. though not specificly.. :( Anybody? |
<font color="gold">Ok, let's see...
LOL: Laugh Out Loud ROFL: Rolling On Floor Laughing LMAO: Laughing My Ass Off RO(T)FLMAO: Rolling On (The) Floor Laughing My Ass Off IIRC: If I Recall/Remember Correctly AFAIK: As Far As I Know IM(H)O: In My (Humble) Opinion IMNSHO: In My Not So Humble Opinion Those are the common ones, I'll have to dig deep into my brain to come up with some of the more unused. ;) [EDIT] These are some of the BG2-specific ones: MMM: Melfs Minute Meteors ApR: Attack per Round ADHW: Abi Dalzim's Horrid Wilting</font> [ 02-20-2003, 03:24 PM: Message edited by: Sir Exxon ] |

I think a list of BG specific acronyms would be an excellent idea. I usually work them out eventually when people use them, but I remember it took me about 3 weeks to work out what ApR meant (and I'd never even USED MMM so I had no idea there for ages)
|
Yes I think so 2, okay Dundee has posted some of the acronyms in his sticky thread.. but not all of them..
The list Sir Exxon has made for me should also be included in Dundee's sticky post IMHO. It would be nice when he adds more of them.. because for noobs, that are not used to be on a forum will have a hard time de-coding those acronyms... As you see I have the same difficulties now.. :( Vedran that list is to BIG :D ... it's like finding a needle in a hai stack.. ;) but thx.. Vedran.. Go and check out ''Aahh Those Names'' Thread... something 4 you ;) |
a bg2 specific one that jumps immediately to mind is foa or Flail of Ages
|
MoD: Mace of Disruption (some may clarify by adding a +1 or +2)
DoE: Defender of Easthaven (also known as the DoE+2, even though it's actually +3) CF: Usually means Celestial Fury, but can also sometimes mean Crom Faeyr (most people abbreviate it "Crom") SotM: Staff of the Magi AoP: Amulet of Power RoP, CoP: Ring or Cloak of Protection (either +1 or +2) AoF: Armor of Faith (spell) DUHM: Draw Upon Holy Might (spell) THAC0: To Hit Armor Class 0 AC: Armor Class SoA: Shadows of Amn ToB: Throne of Bhaal |
Thanks for that link, Vedran. I recently visited a game's forum and the conversation looked like computer code!
what seemed like a sample conversation: WTF? UR sucha n00b. OMG! If a = then run until 4 r33l? Y u like dat? LOL! RGAHOESEE!!! 3ht23-23ehsd0hg23! end I was like, "uh, do I need to bust out my Little Orphan Annie decoder ring to talk here?" |
PCGiant seemed to notice this thread and made a ''all BG I & II related acronyms list''
That helps allot... but okay to finalize my ''help me in the Forum world'' How can I change the font of my text..? like what Xen does and Sir Exxon (yellow letters) and how I can get my text ''cursief'' that it is ''leaning'' (don't know the right word for it sorry :( ) and last but not least.. how can I make those little ''boxes'' and the beginning of a summary, something like this: - Temple District - Shadow Dragon - Celestial Fury But then how the ''pro's'' do it... like Dundee in his sticky thread.. I know it is allot of questions but plz can somebody explain ;) .. :D ? |

HTML/UBB questions should really be in the General Discussion Forum, but here goes,

<font color=white> Thx Dundee, but I got some spare time this afternoon and scurried trough the IW forum and learned it myself.. (just looking at other people using UBB code's in there posts)
The only thing that I wasn't able to pull of where those boxes </font>
But thanks for the help Dundee... I appreciate it. </font> [ 02-21-2003, 08:26 PM: Message edited by: Dundee Slaytern ] |
Annatar, just remember to <font color=red>close</font> all of the tags you open, or they'll spill down into your <font size=4>sig</font> and maybe even other people's posts.
|
<font color=white>SoS, you mean that I should put <./.font.> in my post afterwards? so my sig does not get colored (see my previous post in this thread)
If that is not what you mean, then please explain, so I can prevent from doing any harm.. (already happend to me once that it was my fault that people couldn't post... IIRC it wasn't really my fault but something to do with a strange bug in the forum.. though is was my post :( ) </font> [ 02-21-2003, 04:11 PM: Message edited by: Annatar ] |
As the internet is mostly made up of HTML, improper HTML coding can lead to funky errors. This UBB system is quite stable, but that does not mean we can ignore proper HTML coding protocols. One must ALWAYS, always close their HTML tags to prevent unnecessary troubling errors. I have seen threads get messed up because of bad HTML coding, and it is a PITA to repair the damage.
I usually close one eye when members slip up in here, because most of the time it was unintentional( although one member gives me grief consistantly, not you, Annatar), and it was easily corrected. Dundee cannot always be here to correct your mistakes though, and I would hate to be forced to request for the disabling of HTML in this forum if the situation becomes chaotic( thankfully that is not the case now). Every post made by a member can be edited by him/herself and it is only common sense to amend your post if it was not typed properly. |
