For those who have played IWD, Mordenkainen is the source of more cool spells too. ;)

Annatar 02-17-2003 01:55 PM

Mordenkainen spells also show up in the TDD mod...

most of the spells are worthless though but... just someting to mention

Arias De'Minal 02-17-2003 02:54 PM

Cool. How com nobody ever thanks Larloch? :D

Xero279 02-17-2003 03:27 PM

:D because larlock's spell is no match for mordenkainen's. we still should give credit to larlock too though..thanks larlock!

I'll start a search for both of them immediately!

SixOfSpades 02-17-2003 04:22 PM

Thank you, Mr. Mordenkainen.....and that's a very interesting.....quarterstaff, I suppose. Now why don't we see Staves that look like that in the game? Instead, we get things like the Staff of the Magi, with little glass tubes all over it. Huh?

I'm waiting for Larloch's Major Drain, myself. And Mass Charm.

Link 02-17-2003 04:48 PM

:( So far I cannot find any of those others; Larloch, Melf, etcetera.. :( Only Mordenkainen has been found. Does anybody know where pictures of the other guys are?

ADD: Maybe Tenser is a good one too

He must have been week or have little self confidence to come up with his spell.

Dace De'Briago 02-17-2003 05:14 PM

Tenser's Transformation kicks ass

Malavon's Rage 02-17-2003 08:54 PM

If I may ask, who exactly IS Mordencainen? or Melf, or Larloch? Sure they have great spells but do their names come up in any books or anything? I NEED INFORMATION!!!!

In IWD2, there's a ninth level spell called "mass dominate", I noticed Sixo'Spades asked something about that.

SixOfSpades 02-17-2003 09:32 PM

Oh really? I wasn't aware that the spell actually existed, I was merely postulating that it should exist as a valid spell in BG2. There are no Divination spells beyond Level 6, and no Enchantment spells over Level Five. So why not give us roleplayers something to cast in the higher levels? Mass Charm sounds like a winner to me.

Off Topic: Doesn't it strike you as odd that all the Wizards you see in fantasy art are always thin? They spend most of their day sittin' on their butts, reading books and playing with wands and gems while they down 1/6th of the party's supply of dried figs, wine, and dragon jerky. Yet not one single potbelly have ever I seen. Hmmm......

Six, there is a Mass Charm Spell (level 8) in the Mod TDD, though I didn't use it (why charm if you can obliterate :D )

I'm beginning to be a real TDD groupy... every post I make now a days is TDD related  .. (somebody has to do it )

TDD has allot of Abi-Dalzim, Otiluke, Mordenkainen, Khelben based spells.. a lot of them I did not try in real combat... so anybody here that tested these one's out?

Zuvio 02-18-2003 03:15 AM

Mordenkainen is actually one of the first native dutch gabbers? Intruiging...

Link 02-18-2003 04:24 AM

Yep Zuvio. He introduced the Thunderdome CD's as well as the cool haircut ;)

You just wait until you try Mordies Sword in IWD2!! A high level mage/sorcerer has 3 APR. Haste yourself, then cast MS. It doesn't act as a summon, but as a weapon that you can engage enemies with from as far as the mage can see. Its then grants a +20 attack bonus to each attack of the round (3rd edition rules), giving you 4 attacks, each that deals 4D6+3 damage! Of course, then you can cast Tensers Transform in case your BAB's aren't already high enough and your mage becomes a true force of destruction. Of course, you need to conjure up a few summons to allow you to keep a safe distance from the enemy, but this spell allowed my mage to easily solo HoF mode in IWD2 :D

Uh-Oh, I never even said thank you! Well, THANK YOU Mr. Mordencainen, whose sword only came into real use until I got my copy of IWD2, but hey, it was worth it:)

I found them wonders against dragons, liches, and anyother massive killing monster. you jsut have the swords attack first, then enemy trys to attack the swords, cant hurt them, while you and your party engage in attacking while the monser is tring to fight a sword
