Here is what I tried

Katana and Longsword
Scmitar and Longsword
Axe and Katana

I wasn't really flexible. Now here is what I am going to do soon

Dagger and Scimitars or sabres etc

Xero279 02-15-2003 10:57 PM

two katanas, two scimitars (drizzt :D ), or two longswords.

Angelousss 02-16-2003 12:49 AM

actually i've only had one dual wielder finish the game(a kensai) most of it he used the Cesfury and defender of easthaven, some longswords later cause if he got charmed he slaughtered my party

Imrahil 02-16-2003 01:20 AM

Some of the best Dual Weapon combinations I've found are...

Celestial Fury & Sanchuudoku (both Katanas, requires Tactics MOD)
Celestial Fury & Crom Faeyr (Warhammer)
Runehammer (Warhammer, requires Throne of Bhaal) & Crom Faeyr
Flail of Ages & Crom Faeyr
Daystar (Longsword) & Mace of Disruption (Mace, obviously)
Torgal's Claw & Quietus (Daggers - requires Tactics & Improved Items MODs)
Jhor the Bleeder (Bastard Sword) & Adjatha the Drinker (Longsword)
*anything* & Belm (Scimitar - in off-hand, +1 attack/round)
Stonefire + Frostreaver (both Axes)

Overall, though, I'd say Katanas + Flails or, if you're willing to sacrifice effectiveness in SoA in favor of mega-power in ToB, Bastard Swords + Longswords (for Foebane + Argurvadal).

I prefer this over all.

Valen's Claws <---dagger- and Quietus -best dagger combo out there
Axe of the Unyielding +5 and Crom Faeyr -best head on combo in the game hands down, and my personal favorite :D
Infectious Scimitar and Water's Talon -poison them and give them disease for comulative damage
Celestial Fury and Sanchuudoku +4 -stun them, and lower their acid resistance, plus 2d4 more points worth of acid damage

Best weapons are those that can seriously hurt an opponent's status or can get in a lot of damage in a short amount of time.

That's my 2 cents...

Cristian 02-16-2003 01:11 PM

i would have him/her dual wield 1 schimitar and 1 katana=)
love that combo

SixOfSpades 02-16-2003 08:04 PM

On-hand . . . . Offhand

Celestial Fury, Crom Faeyr
Short Sword of Mask, Short Sword of Arvoreen
Axe of the Unyielding, Defender of Easthaven
Foebane, Purifier
Answerer, Angurvadal
Belm, Kundane
Mace of Disruption, Daystar

Dace De'Briago 02-18-2003 11:36 AM

My ULTIMATE dual weapon combo:

Binky the Wondermage armed with: Dagger +1 (primary weapon), regular dagger (secondary weapon).

This is a truly lethal combo, and outfoxes all forms of 'protection from magical weapons' by using a regular dagger.

You will not believe how effective this combination is!!!

Eternal 02-18-2003 11:42 AM

lol well....my korgan is dula wielding crom fayer with flail of the ages....
thats pretty much it

Alson 02-18-2003 12:06 PM

Hmmm... In no particular order,

On hand weapons
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Flail of Ages +3
Celestial Fury +3
Foebane +5
Blackrazor +3
Answerer +4
Axe of Unyielding +5
Off hand weapons
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Belm +2
Kundane +2 (does give extra attack)
Crom Faeyr +5
Defender of Easthaven +3 (yes, +3)
Angurvadal +5

Excluding custom items (a la Weimer's Item Upgrade Mod), off course.

SixOfSpades 02-18-2003 06:26 PM

How could you forget the Equalizer as an offhand weapon, Alson? ;)

There's also another class, the "Secondary Quick Weapons:"
Daystar
Ilbratha
Ras
Mace of Disruption+2
Namarra
Sword of Balduran
Purifier
Things that you carry in your Quick Weapon slots, not because you actually want to hit anything with them, but for the spells they can cast or the immunities they confer. (See a nasty spell heading your way? Let go of the Celestial Fury and grab the Purifier.)

Xero279 02-18-2003 06:38 PM

Actually, my fav duel wielding combo is the one i posted in "Valygar Tactic" a few pages back. works out for me good! (im playing a game using it now)

Aye -- albeit some players, myself included, find it somewhat... not kosher. ;)

A question, though. Does this sort of switching resets the character's personal initiative round?

Dundee Slaytern 02-19-2003 11:34 AM

As SoS said, those weapons are not really for whacking stuff. Think of them as QuickItems that occupy a different set of slots.

Daystar

As my friend goes... "Daaaaystar!"

Daystar is akin to a disposable RPG. An one-shot wonder if one wants to be cynical. See a bunch of tough undead? Whip out Daystar, chant a few words, voila, crispy undead and you can switch back to your normal weapon going about your business.

----
Ilbratha

This sword is even better. You DO NOT even need to select the sword to be able to cast its' Mirror Image charge. Just stick it in any of your QuickWeapon slots. :D

----
Ras

Solo Fighter needs a breather? Dig out Ras and summon your very own Mordenkainen's Sword!

----
Mace of Disruption+2

For those times when you need to play musical taps on undead, or want the Negative Plane Protection.

----
Namarra

I am not sure why SoS mentioned this. Beyond its' damage, did I forget something about it?

----
Sword of Balduran

Magic Resistance I supposed.

----
Purifier

I can attest that I used the switcheroo tactic to swap between the Axe of Unyielding and the Purifier when I soloed my Cavalier, depending on the foe/situation that I was facing. Maze headed your way? Clutch the Purifier and pray.

I said these tactics are somewhat "fishy" because i just can't imagine my characters using such a trick in combat. By the time you'll sheathe your weapon and unsheathe [ Daystar / Ras / yada ], the spell will hit you for sure. It breaks immersion for me, but immersion is a personal thing.

Silence 15'. ;)

Malavon's Rage 02-19-2003 05:05 PM

I always liked the Blackrazor on the on hand and Crom Faeyr on the off hand

Celeborn 03-06-2003 08:46 AM

Celestial fury in on hand and katana +1 or +2 in off hand, with character having full skill in katana and dual weapon. It's a fun combo, and you can get it early in the game. (celestial fury is in the guarded compound in temple district, I believe).

Flail of Ages, Belm/Kundane. Bonzer . It's all about getting more swings than your opponent.

Attalus 03-06-2003 01:36 PM

Carsomyr in one hand, and in the other hand, Carsomyr, a little lower on the hilt. ;)

Indemaijinj 03-06-2003 01:42 PM

Two flails.

Flail of the Ages and Defender of Easthaven.
