I'd say the Dagger of the Star+5. Chance to go invisible, and do 2d16 extra damage...sweet.

P.S. This is favorite weapon, not best weapon.

I love Arbane +2.
1. give it to a thief, hide and scout for enemies.
2. bring up a mage to cast Web from just out of view.
3. your thief can now backstab armies to death to his/her heart's content without fear of retaliation.

for added effect, give a ranger the ring of free action and give your thief a playing partner. Keldorn can join in too if it's really necessary

For a non-weapon favorite, I'd have to say the best Item in the game must be the Bag of Holding.

Celestial Fury. A +3 weapon with a very good chance to stun opponents, chance to do additional electrical damage. Lightning strike once per day, blindness once per day. I usually this gets dual wielded with Daystar and there is very little that can stand up to the combination.
With the Item Upgrade Mod It can be made into a +5 weapon right after completing the Planar Sphere.

Crom Faeyr
I love hammers. This hammer deals mighty damage and sets your strength to 25. In Norse Mythology there was this god named Thor that had this mighty hammer which would double his strength in battle when he was about to get rid of the evil foes in middle earth...
I like to think of Crom Faeyr as that hammer, thinking of myself wielding a godlike weapon [img]smile.gif[/img]

There is actually, it's just not written in the description. But it really does do an additional 5 electrical dmg each hit.

The name of Thor's hammer is Mjolnir, not Crom Fayer!

My favourite weapon is Flail of the Ages. I've always got a thing for big spiked metal balls, and this one works it's magic against such a large array of different foes.

I'm also a fan of non-magical katanas and morning stars.

I am a big fan of halbreds. Nothing quite so scary looking as somebody coming after you with what amounts to an axe with a 6 to 8 foot long or longer handle. Putting a halbred in the hands of a littlefolk, like a Halfling or a Dwarf of course, is down right hysterical.

Also, gotta love a good dagger. Pixie Prick is always one of the first weapons I go after if I have somebody that can use it. Vallygar, with Celery Fury and Pixie Prick is total overkill. Sleeping stunned enemies just lay down and die all to quickly.

The Staff of Rynn.
Consider it a bit of sentiment. There are many good weapons in the game, perhaps better ones than the staff. But I get the staff early in the game and since then the staff (in hands of my kensai/mage) shows the monsters what the staff can do to them and how well a kensai/mage can fight [img]smile.gif[/img]

Favorite weapons so far. As requested, not based on raw power, and also limited to ones I've actually used (only played through SOA twice and haven't played TOB yet):

Arbane's Sword (D6+2, +2, Free Action, Haste 12sec/day)
Excellent magic item design... well-balanced without being cheesily overpowerful and incredibly useful to a web-slinging thief-mage. Also available pretty early (first between-town-areas encounter I think). Gets my "weapon I most want to build a character around" award.

Staff Mace (+2, 2D4+2, 1-handed staff)
Fantastic starter weapon, available cheaply from Ribald. The only one-handed staff weapon in the game, and note that its base damage is actually well above the usual for a quarterstaff. Never the best for any class, but a good step along the way for many. Jaheira used this in my first game to good effect until we made it to Trademeet and the Druid Grove.

Composite Long Bow (+1/+1, 2 attacks/rnd, 18 str required)
Yes, just the plain old ones you get off every little group of Goblins you kill in Irenicus's dungeon. I'm probably a bit biased since my first PC was an Archer who grandmastered in long bow at creation time (before I knew about all the good short bows), but the mileage he got out of just this bow was amazing. He actually switched back to it (from Strong Arm) in the Underdark when I decided that my Girdle of Hill Giant Strength would be put to better use on Jahiera. It is also an extremely effective weapon for just general Fighter-types who put two stars in it (like Minsc). Other bows shoot more often and have better + to hit/dmg, but it is nice to get a solid usable weapon this early.

Firetooth (+3, 2D4+3, +1-2 fire damage, throwing dagger)
Gets the coolness nod over the +2 Boomerang dagger for its fire damage, but both returning throwing daggers have a base damage of 2D4, instead of the dagger's usual D4. That's the same as a bastard sword, by the way! Very nice bonus for those people that thought they had wasted those proficiency points in dagger, or as a backup weapon for mages that are tired of collecting sling bullets. Firetooth's one downside is that it isn't available until the Underdark, but you can get the Boomerang dagger pretty quickly in the Bridge District if you don't have any qualms about slaughtering some obnoxious adventurers. (I believe the Limited Wish quest lets you get it in a more lawful manner, but I haven't tried that way yet.) Don't forget you can use it in melee mode also.

Improved Mace of Disruption (+2, D6+3, strikes as +5, immune to level drain, bonus damage and chance to slay vs undead)
I know it is considered one of the cheesier weapons in the game, but I really admire the design of the weapon. The combination of immunity to level drain and that it strikes as a +5 weapon make it an effective option against nearly any undead in the game. (As opposed to Daystar, which can be devastating with its Sunray charge but only strikes as a +2 weapon in combat.) The chance to slay may be overpowered, but it is a long way from being the most abusively powerful ability in the game, and you still need to breach against most of the tougher undead (read: Liches) in the game. Minor style quibble: I just wish it kept the original Mace of Disruption picture instead of reverting to the plain old mace icon.

Yep though they got about the same stats...
Mjolnir is the hammer of lightning, used to generate thunderstorms. It would double Thors strenght in Battle. Crom Faeyr deals lightning damage and gives your strength a huge boost by setting it to Maximum.

Personally, I love head to head combat more than anything, and I love blunt weapons. How could you not like watchin your enemies splatter in 10 different directions when you crush 'em? Best example is Crom Faeyr, it pumps up your strength, and it is one hell of a weapon. I also like axes, so for ToB, I'm gonna say Axe of the Unyielding +5. Vorpal Hit! *Splatter*

Based on sentimentality, my all-time favorite weapon is the Dagger of [CHARNAME] that your apprentices create for you in the Mage Stronghold. I always carry it around with me, despite it's general uselessness. [img]smile.gif[/img]

From a game-play side, though, I'd have to say Celestial Fury. The first couple of times I went through the game I never used it. Then, I went through with a Kensai, inspired by the idea of finally having someone wield it. I was floored by how cool CF was, & I also love the graphic effect of seeing someone get hit by the Booming Thunder effect.

2) fists and kicking...monkstyle. it'd be great if you could brawl with the drunken sailors....your monk would kick some serious tail.
