I'm at the end of improved sahuagin city with a good party and am having trouble with Villynaty. I get taken to see him and he immediately turns hostile. Is this a result of the improved mod, or have i done something to make him angry.

I've played i-sahuagin city before with an evil character but i don't remember this happening before. I killed both factions but i think Villy didn't turn hostile until i did.

Also, what stats determine the dialogue options of the spectator beholder? It can't be charisma (natural or buffed) or rep. I'm wondering if it has something to do with alignment.

pretty sure it's wisdom for the spectator beholder, either that or int. you have to out-wit it. potions of make-my-wisdom-18 will work. haven't done improved city mod so i dunno bout that bit

daan 01-03-2003 05:18 AM

Pretty sure its wisdom too, but it might also be intelligence ..
I keep forgetting

Anywayz, I had your problem too .. but it was becuase during the fight some of Villy's followers and eventually Villy himself join the fight.
I had it happen a few times, that in the thick of battle, I accidently attacked Villy's followers, thus making him hostile.

Might not be your problem, but try it anywayz, I hope it helpz

So do i have to restart the city and not kill any of the rebels? Every other time i've done the city i've attacked and killed the rebels and Villy has not turned hostile. Something just doesn't add up.

For fun, i tried returning his heart to Orthoxicol ( ) but this ending does not suit a good party. Anyone got any ideas.

Killing rebs won't turn Villy hostile - only committing a hostile act within his particular area will - outside of a bug.

Or, perhaps, he will turn hostile if you rebuff the priestess who asks for your intercession. The wrong set of responses might trigger a hostile state for the rebel prince. I am not aware if this later possibility is real, or not, though I'll dig around with Near Infinity and see if I can find something.

I need to know the name of the priestess to check her script and dialogue, anybody remember?

If you refuse to help when you first arive in the city this will turn everyone hostile by setting the global "hostilecity" to 1. You could probably use the CLUAConsole to set this global to 0 and see if that de-escalates the situation.

If you attack rebels in AR2300 (area 2300) this will set the global "RebelsHostile""AR2300" to 1. Resetting this to 0 may eliminate their hostility.

Villinati will definetly attack you if either the "rebelshostile""ar2300" global is 1 or the "hostilecity" global is 1.

To change these globals, open your baldur.ini file in a text editor (use search function if you can't find it). And type "Debug Mode=1" under [Program Options] don't use quotes.

Then hit CTRL-SPACE and a text box into which you can type will come up.

In this box you will want to type
CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("NAMEOFGLOBAL","GLOBAL",X)
Where "NAMEOFGLOBAL" is either "RebelsHostile""AR2300" or "hostilecity"
Where "GLOBAL" = "GLOBAL"
And Where X = the new number you want it at.

So type...

CTRL-SPACE

Then

CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("RebelsHostile""AR2300","GLO BAL",0)

And then

CTRL-SPACE

CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("hostilecity","GLOBAL",0)

And that's it. They shouldn't be hostile anymore.

I have listed the pertinent files below in case you are familiar with Near Infinity and want to do some checking on your own.

The creature file is SAHPR1.CRE for the High Priestess Senitylli

Her scripts:
SAHHCITY.BCS = override script
SAHPR1.BCS = class script
SAHPRI12 = race script
WTARSGT.BCS = default script

SAHPR1.DLG is her dialogue

The creature file is SAHPR4 for the senior High Priestess Senitylli

Scripts:

SAHPR4.BCS
SAHREBEL.BCS

SAHPR4.DLG is her dialogue

SAHPR2.CRE is Prince Villinati

SAHREBEL.BCS is his class script
SHOUTINV.BCS is his race script
SAHPR2.BCS is his general script

SAHPR2.DLG is his dialogue

It is a known bug caused by the Improved Sahugin component. It'll probably be fixed in the next version.
It's no big deal, anyway - i don't find helping their race more good and just than helping their helping their King. Kill them all, i say, whether you're Good or Evil - and sell their legs in the far east. :D

You'll need 13 Wisdom to convince him.

Wow ... impressed with the help here
To clear my post up, I meant that in your fight with the original king,.. at a certain point the rebel prince shows up with a few of his soldiers.
I sometimes confused these soldiers with the original king's soldiers and attacked them. So that way I'm attacking the people i just promised to help ...

Attacking any rebels before talking to the rebel prince is just fine

Thanks for the advice guys. You're suggestion is duly noted, Alson but i think i'll try drewal's idea first. If it doesn't fix the problem, maybe you could refer me to a good Kara-Turan merchant. :D

drewal 01-03-2003 08:36 AM

One caveat - if you have improved Sahuagin installed (from tactics MOD) there will be additional script files in the override directory that may contain additional globals that cause hostility - as Alson suggested.

I have the tactics MOD installed, so I will snoop around for you and see if I can find anything obvious (still new at this whole scripting=foreign language thing).
