i read that he has gauntlets of weapon expertise, and i wanted to get them.
|
I'm not sure those were on Tazok. You can meet him by finding the bandits in the woods and pretending you want to be one too. They'll take you to Tazok, but...
SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER ... You won't be able to kill him yet. ------------------ The last arrow of Legolas kindled in the air as it flew, and plunged burning into the heart of a great wolf-chieftain. All the others fled. -J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings |
No they are not on Tazok, nor is it at the bandit camp.
Don't think so any way. If I can stretch my memory I thought they were on some Ogre in the SE??? Help me out here. ------------------ http://www.asnsoup.com/a.jpg |
SPOILER
- - - - - - - Gauntlets of weapon expertise are in a fighter in Firewine ruins, if you challenge him (and kill him too http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif) you´ll get them. I cant remember if they´re on Tazok too or not, i killed him once in the bandit camp but i cant remember which items did he have, plus i killed him with a wand of frost, that might destroy items. ------------------ http://www.angelfire.com/anime2/memnoch/ertai2.gif "Sigh" -Ertai, Captive of the Blinding Angel |
Are these the ones that increase your dexterity to 18? if they are then
Spoiler> Spoiler> Spoiler> Spoiler> I got mine off the 2 ogres(?) that were guarding the bridge at the Knoll Fortress ------------------ Carpe Diem, Carpe Jugulem |
I'm pretty sure Tazok has Gauntlets of Weapon Expertise. (I know they are not Ogre Strength and pretty sure they are not Weapons Skill... so I think they must be Weapons Expertise...) There is another pair of Gauntlets of Weapon Expertise on Melium at the Firewine Ruins as well.
Immediately after Tazok talks to you pause and target him with an arrow to turn him hostile. Then kill him. He's not that tough actually. He does appear later in the game, but killing him now doesn't affect that. (Hey, every temple resurrects for a price. Why wouldn't the bad guys be able to do this also!) |
yep, according to the item list of the cre file for tazok (from infinity explorer) he carries these items. but they are not included in the count, so may be only effects, i guess killing him will show you if they are on him or not. interestingly, the cre file for tazok2 - where you kill him for the finish, he doesnt have them.

SPOILER
- - - - - - - Gautlets of weapon expertise (+2Thaco I think)- guy at Firewine ruins Gautlets of dexterity (dex=18) - gnoll frotress entrance gauntlets of Ogre Might - BG 2nd or 3rd level of ship in docs (girls wanted to play, and we played http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif) Zbyszek |
Were you thinking of Tazok's servant Mulehay in the Nashkel mines? I forgot what kind of of gauntlets he had originally, but I've installed DSOTSC and this time he gave me gauntlets +3 to hit and +3 to damage, only usable by clerics.

No. We are not talking about DSOToSC. In BG and ToSC there are no such items like gauntlets+3 (if you got it at the beginning of game you can no longer say it is balanced). (There are also 2 pairs of gautlets of weapon Skill - +1Thaco) Zbyszek |
You say you can kill Tarzok at the bandit camp? I've tried many times, and he keeps saying something and dissapearing if you deal him enough damage. I've tried arrows, but they cannot hit him fast enough.
|
I realize that you are not talking about DSOTSC. However, unless I uninstall it, I cannot return to find out Mulehay's original equipment, which includes a pair of bracers. Since Tazok's battle is further along, I thought that perhaps it was *this* pair of bracers to which were referred.

I did it! What a rip off! Tazok is worth a paltry 400xp!
|
Who cares about EXP when you get some great gauntlets, which Tazok does have, at least in my version? And I think I got 4000, not 400. I've only killed him in Single Player, not Multi, because the pause in Multi doesn't work instantly, and you need that time to attack Tazok again before he gets away. I've gotta try that Summoning thing to make sure the big oaf doesn't go anywhere. Thanks! http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif |
if you arent playing your MP game online, go to the black isle folder under program files. Go into MP game and move the folder into the "save" folder. It will be like the rest of your party were just NPC's that you happened to pick up.
|
You mean this will get rid of those Oh-so-annoying lag times before pausing, and having to click the skulls by every single player each time I reload??? Oh, Bless You! http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif
Interesting Note: I've only tangled with Tazok 5 times of so, and 4 of those were multiplayer, and each time Tazok said he had to go, then ran off. I had just enough time to get an arrow or two off, but either I missed Tazok, he disappeared too quickly, or he became invincible. Anyway, he didn't turn hostile and stick around to have his butt kicked. Then when I did it in Single Player, Tazok never even said he was leaving, he just fought me to the death! I'm wondering if it had anything to do with Kivan being in my party, seeing as he has a very personal vendetta with Tazok and all. |
Eureka! (From the Greek, meaning "I have found it.")
XRayted, you got 400 Exp. for Tazok because you killed him when he wasn't hostile. Tazok's AI is as follows: 1) Threaten, then attack, party 2) Take X amount of damage 3) Once X has been reached, talk to any party member 4) Say you have to leave, become neutral towards party 5) Vanish The step to hit him on is #3, meaning DON'T LET HIM TALK TO YOU! If you have most of your party hit him with ranged weapons, and have one guy keep leading Tazok around & around, never letting him get to close, Tazok plays the good little boy, taking arrow after arrow until he drops dead. 4000 Exp, Gauntlets of Weapon Expertise, Plate armor, etc. Voila. An Oil of Speed on your Tank helps. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif |
