cloak of cheese is really just the cloak of mirroring

i think u can get it at the asylum(wrong spellin i think) at one of the test to prove ur sane....its found on the table where all the look like nolbe r at

It's called the Cloak of Cheese because it is considered to be far too powerful by many of the veteran gamers. Any spells that specifically target the wearer of the Cloak are automatically "reflected" back at the caster.

It is possible {for example} to kill every beholder in the Underdark without ever attacking them at all. Just put on the Cloak of Mirroring and walk right up to them. Their attacks will reflect back on them and usually kill them in very short order.

No you don`t. ;)
You get it in the Sahuigan City, on a Priestess in the central section (the bit that looks like a shark's mouth).

Also, if you have TOB installed, it`s power is toned down a bit. It will simply absorb spells (with some that bypass it), instead of sending them back to the caster.

But without the cloak, the Beholder place would be really hard.. atleast that is wot i have found.

sometimes, i think they should have made the option of the cloak of cheese to be available on the beholders area only and once you leave it "magically" disappears.

There's more than one way to clean out the beholder city. (That is to say, there's more than one item of cheese to do it for you.) With ToB, the cloak is more balanced and will only absorb spells instead of sending them back. It still comes in handy when battling any magic user though.

I had no idea the cloak of cheese was so powerful without TOB installed - I bought both at the same time and installed both together.

Definetly a needed fix IMHO. Reflecting everything back permanently is crazy.

Delete clk26.itm (im think, its clk**.itm anyway, my override folder has 3 of em, dunno which is the CoCheese) and you get the original back.

drewal 01-02-2003 04:39 PM

I think I'll stick with the TOB-version - and use it sparingly, as it still is a little unbalanced.

Sythe 01-02-2003 05:28 PM

ahhh the power of cheese.

karlosovic 01-02-2003 08:42 PM

yeh I have to admit to tackling beholders the cheese way. IMHO it's revenge for all the nasty things they throw at you soo damn fast that hurt soo much BEFORE you get protection. I use the shield of balduran though, same dif

The Cloak of Cheese should BURN in Hell. Beholders are total wimps if you know the right strategy. But I have to admit, beholders are wimps because their scripts are totally wacked programmed. The could be way more powerfull you see.

I have to agree with this. I didn't bother with the Cloak of Mirroring in the Beholder Cave. Summoning Fallen Planetars, along with a contingent of swords and skels, and one can rip through the lair.
