I want to start a new game with a Bard and I am not really familiar with Bards. So i would like to know what stats i should give him and what kit should i choose... do Bards use INT or CHA ?????
Thank you!

Bards use charisma but inteligence is important to for spell momrization and dexterity helps for lattter on in the game and in tob. make him good with a lang sword(celestual furry), short sword(backstabber), and katana.threee diffent spells are death spell, magic missle, and lower resistance. does anyone know the maxium spell level for a bard?

They cannot cast spells that are greater than 6th level, unless it's on a scroll.

All three Bard kits are good, but you should probably play them in different ways. Skalds do best with their singing, which gives the rest of the party some awesome combat bonuses. Use them as backup missile firers or spellcasters only when needed. I like to turn jesters invisible and send them ahead of the party to soften up any enemies that may be waiting. Jesters can use their "song" while invisible, causing groups of monsters to become confused and attack each other. Finally, blades are good melee fighters, but you should first have a well armored fighter out in front to attract the enemies' fire and then have the blade come charging in.

When you get to higher levels, your pickpocket and lore scores are very high and you get the improved song. This gives the Blade no disadvantage whatsoever. In plain SOA, Skalds are better IMO because there song is better.

I just started TOB and picked up an ioun stone that gives you an extra 7th level mage spell slot and it's usable by bards. Why would they do that if bards max at 6th level?

I'm simply going by the spell progression table for bards, of which an example can be found at the link below. Perhaps the item was a mistake on BIS's part? Is your bard actually casting 7th level spells?

Bards can cast spells up to level 6 if you only have SOA, higher if you have TOB installed.

No they can't its lvl 6 spells their max. :(

I reccommend a BLADE with the following stats (you may have to roll a long time to get these)

STR 16
DEX 16
CON 16
INT 17
WIS 9
CHA 15
