does ne1 think there should be a baldur's gate 3?
wot changes would u like to see in it if there was? would u like D&D 3rd edition rules?

I think there should be another BG but the infinity engine has had it's day. I really hope they make another one though with a new engine like Neverwinter Nights only with a party like BG. The story has reached it's natural conclusion though so I doubt it.

their won't be a bg3. the saga is finished after tob, besides who wants start a game at lev. 20. or you could just be a god wouldn't that be a fun game. God of Faerun

They aren't. The Baldurs Gate Saga ended in Throne of Bhall.

I say we just anoy the boad long enough untill they give in and make a new one. And i hate 3d 2d is the best just like the original!!

check outta MODs and stuff, that'll keep u interested for awhile. And i agree with Dar-something something keep it 2d cause my com is so cr--(u mature people know the rest)but when i get a new one, 3d all the way!

It could be really cool to see a BG 3, but I don't think it will happen, but they could make more games in the same vein and keep it 2D, it's quite better that way....

I'm all for that: I've been playing BG2 off and on for almost 2 yrs now, in my 6th run-through, and this 2d game is still my favorite. I mean, yes, 3d for deathmatch like UT or Q3 of course, but for RPG...???

I played Morrowind for a month trying to like it, then I uninstalled it. I played NeverWinterNights for another month, trying to like it, and uninstalled it. The 3d view killed my eyes and neck (even though Aurora is a beautiful engine with a 1.2 Gig pc). Went back to BG2. Happy again. Don't even like ToB as much, only played it once, the original is the classic.

OK so it doesn't have to be a new Baldur's Gate game, but I wish the writers of BG2 could have made another story using Infinity. 'Course the industry dictates they have to progress graphically, but the best graphics can't beat outstanding writing/voice-acting and a perfect interface.

I'm always scared of mods, I've just had bad luck with crashes and bugs, etc. after installing mods...

I'm an AD&D dumbass, never played RPG's until BG2, but I know what I like; maybe because I'm used to them, but I kind of like the 2nd edition rules, at least comparing BG2 to NWN... I don't exactly know why, because there's some nice things about 3rd ed like your alignment shifting if you act out of character... Somehow I didn't get that "level-up RUSH" every time I advanced in NWN. And the fireball in NWN sucks. Maybe that was it. :D

It really would not be hard to come up with some ideas for a 3rd story, maybe your character's son/daughter could carry on the story and then you would not be level 20 or anything, and it would be interesting to see the son of Minsc (LOL).

As for the engine, I would agree it needs an update but on the other hand the game is great as is, its the story that is more important. I was more into 3d for a long time but BG2 changed my mind on that

ToB IS a perfect ending, and there isn't much one could build a third plot on. As beeing suggested earlier, one could make it take place among the gods, that you have to prevail as a god too. But it won't be as the previous games. And if BioWare had a plan to make a third at all, I doubt they would make the end of ToB the way they did (don't wanna spoil ;) ).

Lilandra's idea is also doable, but that wouldn't neither be the same. If you have played with the same character through two games, and then suddenly have to start a new one in a third game...

But, as I said, there is nothing I would want more than a 3rd Baldur's Gate. I'm just afraid that I'll be dissapointed. [img]smile.gif[/img] </font>

3D doesn't neccessarily mean 1st person. A party based BG3 using a camera system would surely be the way to go. Zooming and rotating during the game would help to bring the game to life and personally I would love to see RPGs go down this road rather than the first person view which just doesn't work as well.

Yeah they couldn't make another one, unless they did something stupid like you got amnesia and lost all your levels or something lame like that. I mean say you soloed through 1 and 2 and tob and took off the expereince caps you would be some ridiculous level that wouldnt even make the game fun. You would just kill everything without any trouble. Sadly there wont be another Baldurs gate, but it probably is for the best.
