Why is it racist that Yoshimo attacks you? If it was a caucasian character, it would be equally as racist, albeit in the opposite direction.
Thres a good quote from Pratchett that applies here, But I dont recall it precisely. |
Anomen looks black to me... I just thought it was strange that the asian and black npc's in the game betrays you.... well sorry folks
|
Anomen is not Black!!!
If you want black, Valygar is black. Check Anomens Paperdoll, he aint black according to me! |
Plot Spoiler
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Yoshimo's story is one of tragedy. He did not backstabbed you out of freewill, but because Jon Irenicus( JI) placed a Geas on Yoshimo which basically meant that Yoshimo had to obey JI's every command or die. His redemption comes about when you forgive him for his transgressions and send his heart to the appropriate temple( Ilmater if I recall correctly). |
Anomen is racist. He accused me of stealing his bling-bling

Valygar has one of the coolest personalities of all the NPC characters, yet he is black. Of all the male NPCs I had in my pary, I always felt that my PC, as a paladin, got along the best with Valygar, because he's totally loyal, and he's totally honorable. That doesn't sound very racist to me. Look at Edwin: he's the most selfish, arrogant sumana gun you'd ever hope to have in your party, and he's white. Jon Irenicus, the worst of them all, is a white guy.

Yeah I did all that, but Irenicus didn't send any thieves, no thieves showed up at all, I only fought mirrors of my own party.....
|
After that he says "Why am I wasteing my time here...blah...blah...blah"
Then he sends in some minions (thiefs) to keep you busy while he makes his escape. |
The order of the radiant heart are racists...they don't allow anyone but humans to join...

Well I don't understand it... I try to do something different next time I'll play... |
Not only is it racist but it favours the hirsute as well, I mean BALDur's Gate, oh yeah lets have a laugh at those folicley challenged.
While we're at it what about the poor doors? I mean it has to be a gate and all we ever do to the poor doors? Force them or pick (on) them! Why wasn't it Neverwinter Doors? Surely it was their turn. Don't even get me started on Black Isle. Jees surely non-determined race Isle would have been much more appropriate. I am off to search for more ridiculously, tenuosly linked examples of prejudice in games. Oh and by the way I neither noticed nor cared whether Anomen was black, white, blue, pink or yellow-go-pink. Get a life! |
Sorry, but the racism argument is simply not tenable. Two of the extremely "good" characters in the Baldur's Gate series are persons of color: Dynaheir from BG1 and Valygar from BG2. AFAICT, Anomen simply has an olive tan, typical for someone growing up in a semi-tropical climate. (Brynnlaw's not that far south, and it's DEFINITELY tropical, as is Tethyr).
SPOILER INFORMATION > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Yes, Yoshimo "betrays" you, but he's hardly to blame; Irenicus captured him and placed a "Geas" on him which forced him to take the actions that he did. By returning his heart to the Temple of Ilmater, you undo the Geas that was placed upon it and free his soul. Should we consider BG2 to be racist because Black Isle made "elves" the bad guys (Bodhi and Irenicus)? -Sazerac |

yes I belive there's an interesting debate about that in the game (if u have Keldorn, I forget who the other person is)

ahh, right, thanx

Well, Mazzy is as close to a Paladin as you can get. She is halfling, though you can't choose "Nearly Paladin" as a class can you?
And I remind you, this game is a 15. It can have racist concepts (to a limited extent) in it because of it's age restriction. ;) , DJG |
ok, to clear something up, I in the first place did not mean that Black Isle or the game itself was ricist, I just nearly became one myself because (I thought) all colored guys were assholes in the game, but as you say some of the colored guys are really cool, and maybe Anomen is not black, so I'll take my statements back (and choose NOT to include Yoshimo or Anomen in my parties EVER again)
|
Anomen is black, that is so funny, perhaps the first time i nearly laughed truly in this forum. No offense meant really, though i do agree when u first see him in the Copper Coronet he does look kinda black.
letz just leave racialism and other controversial subjects out of this game, cause after all itz just a game, people want to enjoy it, not critizise it>thank-you and goodnight. [ 11-13-2002, 03:15 AM: Message edited by: Merlin Al'Thor ] |
Anomen is black?.... I dont understand the concept between black and white and red and gray. I think Anomen is white like Nalia, or Minsc.
