This a combo any party can use, once it has about 30.000 goldpieces, quite achievable if you do the big reward quests and sell all loot.
Ah, and you need the bonus merchants.

Just slap on the ring of human influence, and buy:
-Vhailor's helmet ( deidre at ribald's )
- PfM-scroll (ribald) x2
- PfU-scroll (ribald) x2

You now have the ability to make 2 party members immune to magic for 10 minutes, and 2 others immune to undead for the same period of time, without wasting the scrolls ....
(you cant use both on one character, since PfM cancels anything else magical)

Spiffy as it is, is this considered cheese ?.. I mean, the game most definetly allows it and Simulacrum is supposed to copy the char. with equipment and all..

Thx for any replies

Cheese. I never use those scrolls at all. PfU causes bugs on most of the battles its useful in. PfM is just cheesy.

Dundee Slaytern 11-10-2002 10:58 AM

Cheese, but if you want to use it, go ahead. Personally I only use those scrolls as a last resort as they are way, way too powerful.

McHaggis 11-10-2002 01:29 PM

I have used PfM only against Kangaxx (his demilich form). Never had even thought about using it somewhere else.

Ditto. And I plan to quit using it even then. At least the other methods require some *skill* to use.

Alson 11-10-2002 02:33 PM

Heavy cheese.
PfM scrolls are literally cheesly-impemented into the game.
Way too overpowered.

PfU scrolls are better, since Undead is not nearly as dangerous as Magic in BG2.
The Improved Mages mod also makes using PfU scrolls on Liches useless, something which, IMO, should have been done a long time ago.

Zuvio 11-10-2002 04:38 PM

PfU and PfM were just implemented for those to lazy to locate a walkthrough, didnt know of this forum or were just Megalomaniacs

Sir Goulum 11-10-2002 04:43 PM

I'd say its Swiss Cheese! :D

Balhifet 11-10-2002 07:27 PM

Tragically, this is not true. Liches are still helpless against it.

White Lancer 11-11-2002 03:57 AM

What is wrong with these scrolls? PFM can be bypassed by just running over and beating the snot out of you, no stoneskins while PFM is active. PFU should protect you from Liches IMHO, are Liches not undead? Personally i don't see the need for these scrolls, but they are not really cheese. They are made cheese when you use project image/simulacrum to cast them again and again and again and... you get the picture.

Huh? Are you sure? Are you playing with the newest version?
I heard that they use Remove Magic to cancal the PfU scrolls, and a special Teleport Field spell that will teleport you right into a bunch of Inc Clouds...

The Remove Magic only has a 50% chance of succeeding, unless you are fighting them with a low-level party. Spell Immunity:Abjuration renders that tactic impotent. The TF spell is irritating... but use ranged weapons and tralalalala. IC is rendered impotent by Fire Resistance.

"Heal me, heal me, oh Gods yes heal me you dumb old Lich!" :(

Some enemies won't go melee, Kangaxx and'I think PFM scrolls are most used in this fight and maybe TR but I'm not sure since I haven't beaten those (guess I'll do it this game after the Underdark so Kelsey and my dualclass FT are higher level, xpcap removed since I haven't ToB yet)

Allow me to quote a fellow BG2 gamer of mine, who once wrote:

Technically I can make a script that runs into tens of thousands of lines to cater for every possible scenerio, but most of the time, there is no need to, because not all are masters of cheese.

And:

I am just not going to make it a walk in the park for him/her. Not everybody is a Godlike-player in BG2, the vast majority are only average when it comes to skills.

Now imagine Westley Weimer saying it to you. ;)

Oooo... touche, ;) but I get your point. I suppose... objectively, the Liches are smarter.

I'm sorry if i sounded offensive a bit - sometimes i'm too cynical. :(
But you know i said it in a friendly way, right?

Pfft... I thought the winking smiley ;) would have indicated my mood already. No offense taken at all.

Alson 11-11-2002 02:53 PM

I like people who doesn't take cynical comments too seriously.

I though the winking smiley was a "Getting personal, are we?" kind of message. :D
