Gadhafi dead
Looks like his end was not a pleasant one. I guess you live by the sword, die by the sword.

Re: Gadhafi dead
They think this is the end, but I worry now there is no order, things could get real bad. I hope they end the fighting or we may see a civil war.
I know Gaddafi was a really bad guy and glad to see him gone, but the way they parade dead bodies for the custom 'proof of life', is odd.. I know its their custom, but that desensitises them to seeing death.. Was surprised the networks showed it.... What I wonder is did the CIA cause this 'Arab spring'? Imagine getting their own people to rebel and kill their own...dictator (won't say leader.. he didn't LEAD anything but suffering). But COULD the CIA create a proxy war that got out of control? (The Occupy Wall Street protests). Makes one wonder WHO is pulling the strings now. Seems being a dictator these days is really dangerous :) 1. Saddam and his sons -dead 2. Egyptian President - prison 3. Osama - dead 4. Gaddafi - dead 5. Venezuela President - dying of cancer 6. Kim - has unknown illness And now, the US is setting out feelers to see if they would have backing for Iran. Make no mistake, if we attacked Iran, it would not be like Iraq or Afghanistan. Russia and China would back Iran, and then we'd have a world war... I hope it doesn't come to that... I would think America is sick of war by now. :( It's a bad position.. because Iran IS probably trying to make nukes, and if that was allowed to take place, anything is on the table then.. (A Nuclear war or attack) The times we live in.... we sure are in an age where we're seeing LOTS of History being made.... Sorry, just thinking out loud... rambling a bit.. ;) |
Re: Gadhafi dead
BTW, isn't being in a pipe MORE dangerous when air strikes are happening? wouldn't the compression wave compress going into the pipe, and cause more damage to the body??
(Its not the fire that kills, its the compression wave and frag) He was desperate I guess... I bet other current dictators are shaking in their golden boots. :) |

Well, I can think of at least two ways to keep one's enemies weak: - prop up a dictator that you back that will support you no matter what he does to his own people (e.g. Hussein in the past, Noriega, Marcos) - remove a dictator that doesn't support you and create a power vacuum so that the key power groups in that country fight each other and not you Machiavelli was writing about it in the 15th century, and all empires from the time of the Romans have done it to keep themselves strong. |

Although all times are perilous, we do seem to be in a particularly sensitve point in history right now. If the Arab Spring, now in its 8th month, spreads to more areas even Saudi Arabia could see changes during the next year. Now that would be historic. |

Thus perish traitors all.

If it lands such that the compression wave would enter the pipe, then yes. If the wave would roll over the pipe (coming from the side, basically), then I wouldn't think so. I'm not volunteering for experiments to determine the truth, but it's worth suggesting it to Mythbusters ;) |
Re: Gadhafi dead
That would be a cool show. Adam would go crazy over the chance to test something like that by setting off huge explosions. LOL.
I agree with your theory that it would depend on where the compression wave was coming from, especially since the pipe was buried. Unless the compression wave came straight through, it seems like that would be a good place to hide. But if the wave DID come through there, I agree with Azred that your insides would be turned to jelly and your bones would likely be shattered or crushed by the amplified shock. |
Re: Gadhafi dead
Was he shot with his own golden gun?
|
Re: Gadhafi dead
Only if he also had the proper supernumerary condition.
movie trivia: The Man With the Golden Gun is the only Bond movie that does not feature Bond in the opening sequence. |
Re: Gadhafi dead
Not so sure about wheter of not this is better for peace in the region. Yes...Khadaffi was a brutal dictator, but he kept the tribal warmongerers and the Salafist islamists at bay, now there is nothing that stands in their way to seize power, and voila....the next Afghanistan is born. I predict that this nation is gonna get more than it ever bargained for. Same situation goes for Tunesia, Egypt, Yemen, and most likely Syria too. I honestly wonder why NATO ever found it necessary to lend militairy aid to the rebels, footage has shown on more than one occasion that they are at least just as horrific and lusting for blood as the regime they just toppled.
