Hi,

Can someone pls tell me how to beat kangaxx. Killing Firkragg and other lichs were very easy compared to this guy. When I give him the golden gear we start to fight, which is fine by me. So I whack him around a bit. Eventually a second dilogue appears and he talks about "setting him free" and then bam, he throws out imprisonment spells and its over!! This guy seems to have never ending magic, no matter how many Pierce Magic or breach I throw at him.
Looks like i may need some nuclear weapons or maybe I am missing something important about this guy?
Cheers

Welcome to Ironworks. http://www.plauder-smilies.de/wavey.gif You may refer to the relevant link in my signature for tips on Kangaxx.

malaar 11-01-2002 03:37 AM

Cheers for that. I'll look them up from your links, I couldn't see a "search" button on the site.

pcgiant 11-01-2002 03:44 AM

YAY! A Kangaxx post! First one in weeks... maybe the players are getting better ;) Anyway, my simple technique is the use of scrolls. Both Protection from Magic used on Kangaxx himself or Protection from Magic and Protection from Undead on the entire party works wonders...

pcgiant 11-01-2002 03:46 AM

The search function has been disabled, by the way, because it was causing errors.

Oh, I almost forgot! WELCOME TO IRONWORKS, malaar!!! I hope you have a great time here!

Hi,
The easiest way, imho, is when he turns to demi-lich ( starts his 2nd dialogue),
is to cast Protection from Magic (but scroll from Adventures Mart) on one char. and move the rest of your party waaay back. You'll need a +4 weapon or better though.( crom fayr is ideal)
Even cheesier tho, is put the Prot/Magic scroll in yr mages quick item slot and cast "simimilcrum" thrn use the "double" to cast prot/magic - so you keep the scroll for further use.
Good Luck

Also, if I remember right, barbarians are highly effective against him...

Alson 11-01-2002 10:50 AM

Berserkers, not Barbarians.
While under the state of Berserkeing, the warrior is immune (among other things) to Imprisonment.

Barbarians go berserk, too, Alson.

Actually, it's Barbarians that go berserk anyway; Berserkers have an "Enrage" ability that amounts to the same thing.

Being semantic, are we?
Just kidding, of course.

Let me rephrase - the Barbarian's Berserking ability does NOT renders him immune to Imprisonment.
The Berserker's Enraging, on the other hand, does.

Well why don't you try the following....
Send all your party away, wear cloak of mirroring to your mage, cast spell trap (prefering from the staff of magi, cast melf minute meteors and start bombarding....

5 seconds later, the Spell Trap runs out, the player realises the Cloak of Mirroring is useless against Imprisonment, and Kangaxx laughs maniacally as the character screams for mercy as he/she descends into the pits of Faerun.

Replace the Cloak of Mirroring with Spell Immunity:Abjuration, and the tactic will work much, much better.

LVL5 spell: spell imunity:abjuration. Slayer. Several saves. Done like dinner :D

You of course, fail to mention the -2 reputation loss which many players will be loathe to lose. ;)

Too bad they can still be imprisioned, or that might actually be useful.

Offcourse! If a foe proves too strong, blow up the entire city! Man, that is *so* cool of you! It should be a level 18 arcane spell: "Nuclear Bomb: if all else fails. Be sure to wear your safety-hats boys & girls, dont want any tentacles growing out of you head!!".

Im gonna start building the forth edition rule set of D&D, sorcs rule and can go all the way up to lvl 99, casting 1 lvl 18 spell (you dont need more, do you?). Way cool.

Well first trap the stairs first. And I had all my guys besides a mage (I had my dwarfy dude shooting his special stuff for his crossbow - and I'm sorry I can't think of his name currently) and I also kept conjuring stuff, by the time he went demi lich, he only did 1 imprisonment and that was to an invisble stalker and then he was killed.

Also, What I find wierd is that Kangaxx appears right next to his tome, but the other liches appear at the far left of their tomes, why's that?

BlackJack21 11-02-2002 02:04 AM

If your invisible stalker is imprisoned you should cast freedom there because if you don't when you go to summon more you will be able to summon 1 less since the 1st is imprisoned

Telchar of Nogrod 11-02-2002 03:30 AM

Ring of the Ram + 2nd Ring of the Ram (the semi-cheezy one) + enraged Beserker with Mace of Disruption = a VERY scared demi-lich.

Protection from Undead doesn't work when he is demi-lich AFAIK (at least not for me) i don't know know exactly if it works on his lich form. You can fight him with 1 party member who is protected from magic and place the rest of them near the entrance so Kangaxx won't notice them.

Welcome to IW!!!!

Dundee Slaytern 11-02-2002 05:47 AM

Protection from Undead scrolls do work. Unless you have the Improved Kangaxx or something.
