I really need to get this paid back. Donna asked how it was going, and as of right now, we are still at zero. :(
I worked my butt off getting us back, and it meant 'borrowing' some cash from the tax return temporarily.
(most of it is for paying off bills and home fixes I need to do). But of all the times I need help, this would be it.

We should be fine after that for the foreseeable future. We're doing better now, so I should be fine month-to-month!

I spent almost $1000 on the new server, and put over 90 hours into everything to get us back up..
(tried for 3 days to fix the backup server... trying to get that working... but the board just wouldn't boot)

I hate asking, but this is really important. I don't need the entire $1000.. But we do need $400 to pay other stuff off.

We've been online since 1998 with Ironworks--(just amazing!) And this new server will give us many more years. :)
Donna (Wife) said we really need it as soon as possible, which I guess would be.. say 30 days from today sounds good.. PLEASE, if you can, help Ironworks out.

Thanks guys, and now that we have some killer horsepower, I can really upgrade the forum, add some things that just couldn't be added when we had that slow system. And the color theme is back on track to be updated completely.

LOTS of stuff coming! So excited for it!

We're at $100 right now! But we really need help before April 13th. If you love IWF, and can afford it, and wanna support the new server, this is the time to donate :).

I REALLY worked hard getting us back online. And with this new hardware, WOW.... It should last us MANY years!

Just upgraded the forum software, now for the new theme. (BTW, there's a new 'add friends' list and 'Social Groups'.. I *think* they are new... Lots to work on, can't wait.

I'm gonna show you all a few color choices in a few days (for the new forum design), and give me some input on what you think--or new ideas. We'll make it even better!!

To bring in new members, I am adding some new forums for 'not the usual' Games. (not all RPG games). This will get the forum busy again, and pump more action into the boards!!

THAT would be awesome! It would be great to see that happen!

We got lucky with our tax return--some states are delaying the checks because their budgets are in the red. I would be PISSED if that happened. That isn't fair at all... They should pay us interest on that then. :P

Still stuck at $125. Getting a little worried. :( If I can't raise the donations for the server, I'll have to return the hardware (and pay a restocking fee--I hate that). So PLEASE help.

We'll be fine for a long time. Plus, I don't have anything to return to for IW's. And I think that would suck, and I'd be sad. I can't see my life without IWF in it.. just can't. So I gotta hope we'll come through. :)

Just bumping, as we still need help. If you can send a donation, please do so soon, it'll keep us online and not have to return the hardware, then IW's would be gone. :(

This server will last us for YEARS!

WOO HOO! Wow, You guys did it! We are now covered, and the brand new server is going to bring Ironworks into a new age.. er.. we'll it'll last many years and with some things I have planned for the site, I think it'll become as busy as it was during the RPG boom!

Yeah, I would have been super depressed returning it--it took a while putting it all together, tweaking it, installing W2K, and stuff.

Thanks you! It really does mean a LOT to me, getting the support when I need it. We REALLY needed a new server, I mean, we were running on a backup board from like 2002 I think, with 512mb ram! :) Now, we're rocking 4 gigs of fast Gskill ram, a superfast motherboard and CPU. (Graphics card is cheap, as a server doesn't need anymore)

I feel like I have so much room to grow now.. a big room to build loads of new things for the Forum! :) It's a GREAT feeling! Choc sleeps near it for heat I guess--guarding it... hehe..

Z, great choice on RAM! G.Skill is a Tier 1 memory maker. The next build I do will be using either their product or Kingston's Hyper X memory.

If you don't mind me asking, what motherboard and cpu did you go with?

I went with the second best MB--didn't need a beast SLI board for the server, but most good motherboards have SLI tech now)

EVGA E758-A1 3-Way SLI (x16/x16/x8) LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard
(The only sucky thing is NO floppy controller on board, so installing XP or W2K3, I had to buy a damn USB floppy drive--for raid drivers... ugh the ONLY time I ever use floppy too)

And an overclocker king--and priced well: Intel Core i7-920 Bloomfield 2.66GHz
Running it at 3.2Ghz on AIR and temps are only 2c above normal idle on a stock cpu!

I decided on this board because of the triple channel memory for the server. I have 4 gig in now, but as soon as I can afford it, I'll get 2 more gig to make use of 3 channels.. 6 gigs (board has 6 ram ports) can hold a total of 12gig!

I got this as the cheap server video card:
EVGA GeForce 7200GS 512MB GDDR2 PCI Express x16

lol... $32! I remember a voodoo 4 MEGABYTE card being $349! hehe... I was surprised at the 512 ram.. not bad! Memory IS cheap as heck these days...

A few years ago, I also used pqi Ram.. very fast!
