Totally SICK. I hope they find this guy and hang him!!

Disgusting! Every time you hear about hope for humanity you read about something like this. How long before this person graduates to killing people?

<!--endclickprintexclude--><!--startclickprintexclude--> <!--endclickprintexclude--> MIAMI, Florida (CNN) -- He was black and white, the perfect gift for the 6-year-old daughter of Donna and Ronald Gleason. His name was Tommy.
<!--startclickprintexclude--> <!----><!--===========IMAGE============-->http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/CR...ed/art.cat.jpg<!--===========/IMAGE===========--><!--===========CAPTION==========-->The death and mutilation of Tommy the cat has been linked to a serial pet killer, say police in Miami, Florida.<!--===========/CAPTION=========-->

http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/.element...er_wire_BL.gif

<!--endclickprintexclude--> The black and white tuxedo cat was one of a dozen pets that have been killed and mutilated recently by someone in the Miami area, police said.

The Gleasons do not want their daughter's name to be revealed. Donna Gleason asked the child to leave the room before telling CNN the gruesome details of what happened to their cat.

"Part of his skin was missing underneath ... and part of his legs," Gleason said. "He was partially skinned."

Miami-Dade County police say Tommy's demise is part of a string of sadistic feline fatalities that have occurred recently in the Cutler Bay and Palmetto Bay areas of southern Miami-Dade County, south of Miami.
Miami-Dade Police spokesman Bobby Williams said two of the cat carcasses were "posed." He said that anyone capable of such cruelty toward and torture of an animal "is disturbed at some sort of level."

The crimes began May 13. A reward of up to $10,000 has been offered for any information leading to an arrest.
<!--startclickprintexclude-->
<!--endclickprintexclude--> Police have been inundated with dozens of phone calls from people who have discovered dead cats throughout the community. Investigators have determined that most of the cases are not related to the string of cat killings. The number, officially at 15, was initially believed to be much higher.

Ronald Gleason found Tommy lying in their yard May 25. At first, he thought his family's pet had been killed by a dog, but a closer look revealed the cruelty behind his death.

Tommy was a gift for the Gleasons' little girl. She desperately wanted a cat, Donna Gleason said. She searched for a cat that could get along with their dog, but none of the shelter cats they brought home was compatible.

"We prayed that we would find a nice cat that liked our dog, and a few days later, he just showed up at our front door," Donna Gleason said. Tommy was adopting them.

The Gleasons put signs up in the neighborhood, and when no one claimed him, they kept Tommy.

"It's disturbing to know that this happened right in front of your house, while you're sleeping inside," Donna Gleason said. "I'm not terrified, but I'm not sleeping as well as I used to."

Others in south Miami-Dade County are telling similar stories. A woman whose Siamese mix cat, Caesar, was killed and mutilated didn't want her name published.

"This person killed my cat. He doesn't need to know anything else about me," she said. "I don't know if it's a gang initiation thing or a satanic ritual thing, but to do what he's doing, he has to be extremely sick."

The month-long cat-killing spree has police concerned.

"We're telling people to be aware where their cats are at. Keep your pets inside," said Williams, the police spokesman.

"If anyone looks or acts suspicious, call police," he added. "Have us come out there and check them out. This could be the missing link we're looking for."

For the Gleasons and 11 other cat owners, it's too late. All they can do is break the news gently to a little girl who always wanted a kitty.

"She loved him and played with him every morning. ... She just misses him," Donna Gleason said.

"We told her that Tommy was killed by an animal," she said.
Then she added, "Well, an animal did kill him." <!--startclickprintexclude-->

I've been following the story a little, seeing as this is not too far from where I'm at.

I'd like to see him caught while he's still on cats. Serial killers tend to follow a progressive pattern. How long before we start seeing people instead of cats?

I'd love to find that vile POS and spend a few hours with him. Sick.. I hope someone finds this base creature, and puts him down. (These are future human serial killers)...

Or put him in a cage with one of the "bigger" cats of the feline family. Yes, this makes me sick also. I hate that when it is not a human, people (including the law) really couldn't give a shit. If we don't protect our animals, who will?

Man, thats BS right there, people with that mind state sit in congress and try to take away our entertainment.

"Blame it on the video games, blame it on the music, blame TV, and movies and magazines."

No, take responsibilities for your own damn actions.

You ever hear the song by Eminem called "Sing For The Moment"?

"They say music can alter moods and talk to you,
well can it load a gun for you and cock it too?
Well if it can then the next time you assault a dude,
just tell the judge it was my fault and i'll get sude."

People DO NOT become violent because of music or video games. If they're stupid enough to do something stupid, they should take the blame.

Re: Totally SICK. I hope they find this guy and hang him!!

Well, to be fair to Felix, DA, he didn't necessarily blame the game for their behavior. He stated they were blowing off frustration. The game may have given the frustration in his illustration, but everyone is responsible for how they deal with their own frustrations.

One time I threw a controller down and shattered it on the floor, since then I've found it more cost effective to turn off the console and take a walk/ride.

At any rate, the fact that it's been going on for over a week tells me that his suggestion is unlikely.

I hope that pathetic excuse for a human being rots in hell. Killing animals is foul itself, but like that? This person is seriously messed up in the head.

Cat Killings Increasingly Violent
Tips Lead Police To Several Persons Of Interest

UPDATED: 11:53 am EDT June 12, 2009

PALMETTO BAY, Fla. -- Three more cats were found slain in Palmetto Bay on Thursday morning, and police said the cat killings that began in April are growing more violent.

Chloe, a striped 12-year-old tabby cat, was discovered Thursday morning with her body chopped into pieces. Her owner, Joylene Ceballos, cried when she heard the news.

"I grew up with that cat, and then you wake up one morning and she's murdered. It’s a sick, twisted crime for no reason," Ceballos said.

Chloe was among three cats found killed Thursday in the same Palmetto Bay neighborhood. Each cat was placed in plain sight for residents to find.

"It's just really awful. It is really, really an awful sight," Ceballos said.

Miami-Dade police said that since April, 33 cases involving dead cats have been reported. Eighteen of the cases, which involved a total of 19 dead cats, have been confirmed as animal cruelty, police said. Those cases happened in Palmetto Bay, Cutler Bay and Kendall.

Investigators believe a group of people could be responsible for the cat killings.

http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/riptide/sadlolcats.jpg

"These individuals are very inhumane. These are innocent animals. It's a very cowardly act. We are actively working this case to bring closure to this," said Detective Aida Fina-Milian of the Miami-Dade Police Department.

Meanwhile, Crime Stoppers received more than 60 tips on Thursday, leading police to persons of interest, but no arrests have been made.

"They have no heart," Ceballos said.

Five Cats' Bodies Found Wednesday

Five cats were discovered slain Wednesday in Palmetto Bay. Three cats' bodies were found Wednesday morning near Southwest 87th Avenue and 146th Street, Local 10's Jen Herrera reported.

"I just saw some people with the animal police taking out cats in garbage bags and putting them inside the truck, and I heard just two days ago there was another one in Palmetto Bay, where they skinned a cat," said witness Matthew Edminsten. "If they're killing cats around here, hopefully I see this guy doing it."

At about noon, a cat belonging to a police officer was found killed in a front lawn.

"Everyone in the neighborhood knows it's a police officer's house. Another police officer lives right across the street. It's just crazy someone has the nerve to do this," resident Michael Miller told Herrera.

A woman who lives near Southwest 160th Street and 84th Avenue found a fifth cat's body in her front yard on Wednesday afternoon. At about 4 p.m., the resident went for a walk and didn't see the cat. She returned an hour later to find the cat's body, which she believes was thrown into her yard in broad daylight.

Families are on edge as the cat killings continue in Palmetto Bay, Cutler Bay and Kendall.

"It's scary. I've got three cats. I think the whole thing is absolutely bizarre," said resident Robert Holley. "I can't believe somebody can cruise up and down or not be seen as suspicious. It's really eerie."

Last week, one of Wayne Edwards' cats was found mutilated on a neighbor's front lawn.

"You can't catch a cat. You can walk in my yard right now, and they'd scatter, just like that. How he is getting them, I don't know," Edwards said.

Edwards has organized a neighborhood patrol that he said would continue until a suspect is arrested.

"I patrol. There's another lady that patrols with me. We take turns. I'm going to find him. If they don't find him, I will," Edwards said.

The reward for information leading to an arrest in the case is up to $12,000.

you would think with this news going around, people would make an effort to keep even their outdoor cats indoors.

And the article above further demonstrates what I said earlier, serial killers' behvior is progressive.

Sick. The best cure by virtue of being certainly permanent is death, but will probably only get prison. ( life sentence FTW)

The citizen patrol is awesome!!! Godspeed to them and Law Enforcement!

Re: Totally SICK. I hope they find this guy and hang him!!

Thing is, a cat is defensless against this freak, I guess the best comparison would be that it's like a child serial-killer, because children don't stand a chance against him where an adult may be able to defend themselves. I can't think of the poor animals too much because I genuinely get upset visualizing it. This is why it disturbs me even more so than the serial-killers you see on the news preying on grown women or men. A part of his mind is certainly "broken", I imagine they'd lock him up in a mental institution because, as was mentioned, one does indeed lead to the other.

***UPDATE***

By SARAH LARIMER, Associated Press Writer Sarah Larimer, Associated Press Writer – 1 hr 19 mins ago
MIAMI – A teenager was arrested early Sunday and accused of committing a string of gruesome cat mutilation deaths that had horrified residents of his Miami area community, authorities said.

For the past month, shocked pet owners in the Palmetto Bay and Cutler Bay neighborhoods have reported finding more than two dozen cats killed and mutilated. Some of the dead cats were missing fur and appeared to have been cut with a sharp, straight instrument, police said.

Tyler Weinman, 18, was taken into custody early Sunday at a party, police said. Weinman was charged with 19 counts of animal cruelty, 19 counts of improperly disposing of an animal body and four counts of burglary.

Police put the home of one of Weinman's parents under surveillance several weeks ago after receiving tips from community members, said Miami-Dade Police Department Maj. Julie Miller.

"This terrible time has drawn us together as a community, further emphasizing the importance of knowing our neighbors, communicating with each other, and always staying vigilant to suspicious activities whenever or wherever they may occur in our village," said Palmetto Bay Mayor Eugene Flinn.

Weinman was being questioned by police Sunday. It wasn't clear if he had an attorney. Messages left at phone numbers for his parents were not immediately returned.

In all, the deaths of more than 30 cats were under investigation, but Miller said some of those cats were likely killed by dogs. She said additional arrests might be forthcoming, but she declined to name other suspects.

"I sincerely hope that with his arrest, the residents will feel relieved and their cats will be safe once again," said State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle. "It is expected that the vicious crimes that have plagued these communities will not be repeated."

That fits the 'profile' I was expecting.. Teen male 15-19, has history of abuse I'm sure. Cannot express his rage, (is a Coward) so he acts out and kills helpless animals.

Sorry, I don't give a shit. He needs to do HARD TIME. 2-3 years PER cat death (Consecutive). I'm sick of how our system of law takes animal cruelty so lightly.. like probation and community service BS...
