Doctor Who

I see the new assistant has been unveiled, the well known Karen Gillan…To go with the equally famous new doctor, I can’t help but thinking that the BBC is trying to put off it’s loyal Doctor Who fans, and try to attract a new younger audience. I really hope this combo do better than they seem on paper!

Re: Doctor Who

I liked David Tennant as the Doctor. He was quirky. Shame he decided to leave.
Christopher Eccleston was good too, and he only got one season, whether by his own choice I don't know.

For all my trying, I just can't get into it. I'm not sure if I even get the station now.

Re: Doctor Who

Well, now that it has been screened and we have all (I assume) seen it, what is the verdict?

I liked it.

I think Eccleston only wanted to do 1 season as he didn't want to be typed casted as a 'Doctor Who'.
DT is very good, I will miss him when he goes. A very good actor, did enjoy him and Jean-luc Picard on stage together!! :D

Oh, did you get to see them? Can you feel my immense jealousy over the internet waves?

I don't know when they're screening the next episode. They've only shown that one with Karen Gillan in it so far. What about the others???

jealousy, I just thought that was cricket related!! ;)

Was that the Pompeii one? He we only have 3 more 'specials' left to see of DT. I'm guessing 2 are for Christmas and New Year, and maybe one sometime in the summer or when the BBC need some good raitings!! ha ha.

Wolf Rider2 07-02-2009 04:07 AM

Re: Doctor Who

Not Pompeii I don't think. It was...Um...Actually I think it was only the Planet of the Dead one. I have a feeling that Pompeii is next.

Target 07-02-2009 05:07 AM

Re: Doctor Who

Planet of the Dead, was that the one with the London Bus in? I have to admit to being a bit dissipointed with the last couple of 'specials' I think they might have peeked with the Voyage of the Damned. That one was superb!!

Saw an advert on TV last night for the new Tourchwood 'series' I think it's 1 ep a night for a week, all ending with the most annoying words in TV, "To be contiuned". :)

Wolf Rider2 07-03-2009 06:49 AM

Re: Doctor Who

Ah, the avid watcher's least favourite words, 'To Be Continued'. But Torchwood does look good. Hopefully we will get more Doctor Who soon. Waiting is so boring.

Target 07-06-2009 05:27 AM

Re: Doctor Who

Tourchwood starts tonight, yeay a 5 night special. Should be good.

Wolf Rider2 07-07-2009 05:08 AM

Re: Doctor Who

We've had it since last week, maybe the week before, but I only found out today, so that wasn't fun. I think it's on Thursdays here, so a couple more days for me.

Re: Doctor Who

Well, I have to say I did enjoy, 'day 1' a good ending, all I'll say is that's going to hurt Jack!!

Dragonshadow 07-07-2009 06:30 AM

Re: Doctor Who

I think just "hurt" is going to be a bit of an understatement.

Day 4 tonight, everyone enjoying it?

Dragonshadow 07-09-2009 05:18 PM

Re: Doctor Who

Day 4 actually made me start crying at the end. And I don't cry during programs.

It was a huge shock, I never expected that!! snif.

Re: Doctor Who

Day 5 is over.
It wasn't what I expected, I'll say that.

Anyone else feel that maybe, Jack was loosing a bit of his humanity?

Target 07-13-2009 07:27 AM

Re: Doctor Who

No i didn't expect that either. doing things "for the greater good" is never easy.
Will this be the last Torchwood?

Re: Doctor Who

Just seen this thread.

I am a huge fan of doctor who, I can not believe there are not more fans on this forum.

I have both season 1 and 2 of torchwood on dvd so I guess you guys are talking about season 3? which i never knew they would make - I thought it was cancelled.

So wolf rider any info on when they are showing Torchwood in australia? day / time ?

Re: Doctor Who

Friday's, 8:30 ABC2 over here. But I haven't had a chance to watch it yet. Problems with reception for the set top box. Still haven't ironed all the kinks out of digital tv.

I wish the Doctor Who 'specials' would come back soon. Unless it is those Doctor Who things also on digital channels, though they normally put things like that on normal stations first...

Target 07-22-2009 06:11 AM

Re: Doctor Who

If you can get to see the 5 part Torchwood 'season 3' do, it's really good.
Hopefully it won't be to long till the David Tennant last few specials air.
And for a look at the new geography teacher...oops...doctor there are some pics here http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...ho-scenes.html

Re: Doctor Who

Just done a search for doctor who season 5 and google says there has been

188 million searches!

I'm impressed :heee:

Wolf Rider2 07-27-2009 06:25 AM

Re: Doctor Who

188 million searches O_o

That is a lot. Still waiting for those specials, though. It would be really weird if they decided to start the new series without showing those.

Hoping to watch Torchwood when ABC Digital decided to clear up the reception a bit.

wellard 07-27-2009 06:58 PM

Re: Doctor Who

There was a special on about three weeks ago, the one with a london bus in the desert of another planet - death valley? or something - very good :heee:

we have it on dvd if you want?

Wolf Rider2 07-28-2009 05:49 PM

Re: Doctor Who

We saw that one. Thanks for the offer anyway, though. I've decided to just go and buy Torchwood on DVD now, because Digital is really annoying me, so I should be able to start from series 1.

wellard 12-29-2009 03:52 AM

Re: Doctor Who

Long time no read

We have torchwood season 1 and 2 on dvd which you are free to borrow. I bought my wife Torchwood season 3 for her birthday (boxing day) so we will watch it soon :heee:

(also bought her Star trek - all the series) :hehe:

What about the Day of the Doctor, any one get to see it?
I do enjoy a good time war!

Wolf Rider2 11-27-2013 05:09 AM

Re: Doctor Who

I saw it, and enjoyed it quite a lot, but I was expecting... More. I don't know what else I was expecting, but just more of it. It was good though.
