the previous thread is here:

Cloudy's Cafe

Come in, be welcome, be comfortable, be yourself

Welcome to Cloudy's Cafe, a place to have a cup of coffee or a good
darjeeling and the finest in conversation and camaraderie.

The proprietor asks that you follow a few simple guidelines:

this is a real conversation zone, not a role-play zone

* no flaming; if you disagree with a viewpoint expressed by any patron, please do so in a civil manner

* any topic is fair game, but keep posts to the standards that Ziroc has set for the entire forum, please (ie: foul language is not appropriate and things should be suitable for all audiences)
-a side note from Cloudy: I see this as a place for those short
conversations about a new baby or the latest soccer fiasco, not for things that are big enough to warrant their own threads, by all means give those things the space they need and post separately!

* Please, no one word or smiley posts (Ziroc has declared them 'real spam' and the proprietor doesn't want the reputuation of "good spam" to suffer!)

* do feel free to be serious or silly and enjoy the company of others while you are here. By all means POST if you have something to say, even to start another topic , we can handle multiple chats, we're a CAFE!!! But be courteous and don't disrupt a conversation just to disrupt it.

Come on in! The bar is stocked with coffees, teas, juices and waters from around the world. And purple napkins, of course!

The lighting is low, the golden oak counters and tables glow with inviting warmth. Near the window, the lighting is brighter, as comfy, plush leather armchairs wait for those who'd like to read a book while relaxing to music or just lazily watch the world go by.

 PLEASE NOTE

This is a modified reminder that I've posted before in reply to someone asking "can we spam the cafe". It still holds true, so I'm going to repeat it periodically for anyone who hasn't seen it.

Read the first post of the thread, it's NOT a spam zone. If you want to discuss you grades, a problem with a teacher, the weather, your neighbor's new car etc.....etc.. (real life conversations) this is the place. I don't mind a SMALL amount of spam but when the Cafe gets to be 8 pages in one day and it's all one liner pure spam, I have to ask people not to do it because most of the members who would come to talk about their day or things that they want advice or sympathy or cheers on, will not post in that atmosphere. I want you to be comfy here, but not at the expense of other members.

So the answer is NO, I don't want to see page after page of roleplay spam or one liner spamfests that could be done on msn or aim etc. because our goal is to TALK WITH one another , not fill up a cafe in five hours. ;)

RoSs_bg2_rox 12-18-2003 01:17 PM

A new Cafe, wow.

How is everyone today then? I had a pretty good day, played in a concert, did a solo, played in the orchestra and also in the concert band. (trumpet)

Cloudbringer 12-18-2003 01:20 PM

Cool! You got first post, too. ;)

That's really great about the solo and that you play trumpet! I never got very musical in school and really wish I had. Congrats!

RoSs_bg2_rox 12-18-2003 01:30 PM

well Ive been playing now for about 4 years, so done quite alot of solos. I play in 3 bands too so its pretty cool. Had my big concert on Saturday, went well!

Xen 12-18-2003 01:37 PM

dplax 12-18-2003 02:21 PM

LOL ! Don`t be too hars on yourself . Just tell yourself that it isn`t your fault . :D

Cloudbringer 12-18-2003 02:44 PM

That is really neat, Ross! I admire people who have the discipline to play an instrument like that.

Work calls, so I'll be back later, but have some cookies and fudge, it's on the virtual counter!

Dron_Cah 12-18-2003 03:00 PM

My congrats, Ross. No school today, so I got a chance to relax. Woo-Hoo!! Anyways, when we doing mp? Well, gotta run, later!

RevRuby 12-19-2003 09:16 AM

gab-nathan works hard. he is a full time multimedia specialist, and a part time sales associate at staples. he only works at staples 3-4 days a week. but those 3-4 days are really helping us with making ends meet. he does it because he is determined. we needed help with our electric bill once and when we sought it (well me actually since nathan was at work at the time) i was basically told that if i'm not working and my husband only has one job that we are not trying hard enough. i left bawling because we were trying to replace our one and only car because the head gasket was shot, and i'm pregnant and can't work. which yes if i had been working at the beginning of this pg i probably could be but she acted as if i should be able to go out and find a job that would hire me so far along. anyway....he is trying to take care of his family and that is how he does it. he also gets lots of time to himself now. last night he went out of town to game (pnp rpg) and even tho i wanted him home i didn't throw a fit or ask him to stay home. he worked wednesday, was going to game thursday and is working again tonight. 3 days of my 9 mos pg and sick taking care of a sick toddler. it is hard on me, but we each do what we need to do. now nathan did not game last night, but...it was because it was cancelled without anyone telling him.

anyway.........go on and feel sorry for him. he gets very little time with his family, and just about the same with his friends. but he has vacation from his day job next week. we will get to catch up on things together. as long as i'm not in labor the minute he goes on vacation...lol

Tybaltus 12-19-2003 10:04 AM

*ahem* *slowly steps into the light*

Greetings!

Euh...Im sort of new here, not 100% sure on how the cafes work around here, but I think Ive got a basic idea.

If you want to listen to a small intro on...well, myself, here it is. If not, you can just skip a few lines down, Im not offended ;)

Im just a 20 year old college student...well I havent been in college 20 years, you know what I mean. :D Im a geography major thats into lots of sports (especially auto racing) and am also into webcomics. I dont have much of a social life, but it doesnt bother me. Ive been a forum dweller for 2.5 years now. So well met!

And well, here I am. How is it going?

Skippy1 12-19-2003 11:54 AM

Giday Tybaltus,

I'm a bit of a newby here myself, but I figure I can welcome you anyway.

Had a bit odf a liquid lunch today, as it's almost Christmas, so the fingers aren't as nimble as usual......well OK, their not that nimble anyway usually.

RevRuby 12-19-2003 11:56 AM

welcome tybalt! sorry i can't finish typing the name. my little girl played with the comp and now if i type the letter |_| it starts the narrator! however i can still say "WELCOME"

yay!!!! i'm getting a sonagram today at 2! maybe we will hear a positive answer to baby's sex! yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! happy me. now i simply wish erilyn to take her nap!

Welcome to the board Tybaltus!!

Hope you have a nice stay over here, I'm sure that you'll enjoy the forums. The Cafe over here is just a nice chit-chat zone where you can pretend to be in a real cafe, by ordering (illusionary) drinks.

Hope you like your pink welcome text ;) Usually I use red, but today I thought of a different color. Not that it matters much, really

Tybaltus 12-19-2003 12:18 PM

Well, feel free to call me whatever, aslong as it aint insulting ;) Tybalt is fine, Ty, Tyb, whatever. It all works.

Pink...ehhh, not my favorite of colors, but the welcome is nice ;) I see you are a veteran at welcoming people especially since youve figured color coding the welcomes. :D

But a narrator to what? Maybe its not so bad.

Hrm...my day seems like its actually got substance...Ill soon have to make lunch, and after that, Ill be heading to my soon-to-be sister in-law's parents' house and having dinner.

So you got any French Vanilla coffee here? Im a real caffine-aholic http://mindscraps.com/s/contrib/ruinkai/rolleyea.gif

RevRuby 12-19-2003 03:30 PM

Hi all! Just a quick howdy before I toddle off to bed. Been a long day and I'm tired. We're going to be listening to Christmas music and wrapping a few gifts to send to my sweetie's family tomorrow and then hopefully get some laundry done. Whoohoo! I know, I lead such a fascinating life, huh? LOL :D

Skippy1 12-20-2003 04:34 AM

As far as my X-mas shopping, well I heard that today was the absolute worst day to go shopping, because it is the last Saturday before Christmas--so I just chose to sleep in and stay home. No need to make life complicated. Ill go on Monday. Ok, so maybe its just an excuse to procrastinate

Goodness, I love having this month Christmas break from classes http://www.stupid-boy.com/smilies/ot...y/beerchug.gif

Ah, and I love to have cream and sugar in my coffee...all the accessories http://instagiber.net/smiliesdotcom/...coolgleamA.gif

Cloudbringer 12-20-2003 03:20 PM

Got some Christmas wrapping to do and lots of laundry but that's all I plan to do today, as I'm in desperate need of some 'down time' after the last few weeks!

Still have to take my car back for more work and get ready to visit friends for the holidays too.

Firestormalpha 12-20-2003 10:17 PM

What's up everybody?

Had a pretty good weekend so far.

Friday was pretty boring, mostly cuz I was anticipating a lock-in event with my youth group.

We started out the night with our own special Coral Idol night (based on the idea of American Idol, but it's only lip-sync) as usual it was a big hit. The first place prize of $75 went to a group of three 6th graders. They did pretty good, but as our judges said, "They should have tried smiling a bit." They kinda looked bored up there.

After that we had a guest speaker come up and give a little speach. It was ok, but a little on the boring side.

After that we all went bowling, and due to the poor conditions of the balls I bowled my worst games ever. My lowest score being an embarassing 26. Best score being a moderately ok 98. I have scored as high as 125.

Anyways we got back to the Church about 12:30 and watched movies till 5:00am. Finding Nemo, The Santa Clause (the Tim Allen movie), Jumanji, and part of Lilo & Stitch (which they interupted so they could watch Jumanji.)

I stayed awake almost the whole time and only dozed off for the last 15 minutes of Jumanji. Woke up in time for the closing credits, and waited for breakfast. Got home in hopes of catching some sleep, but I only got little two hour cat-naps off and on. So now I'm mildly fatigued and my appetite is suffering (I believe as a result of the fatigue). Well I plan on sleeping well tonight.

Oh yeah, my bro is gonna be back in town for Christmas starting tomorrow. Hopefully I can survive that.

P.S. WOW that was a long post!!
