Remember Cliff Burton? Man, those were the days..
Absolutely do!! He was a bass god, his solo's were incredible!!! I am just sorry I was too young to have gotten the chance to see him perform (I was only about 10 when he died). And, I wasn't living up here yet when they recorded "Kill Em All" here in Rochester NY. BUT, my teacher for Audio Recording in College worked on that album. He's listed in the comments of the album, Gary Zefting. The quote says sorry about the house. Someone told me they burnt down his house, don't know if that's true or just school lore, though.

Stormymystic 04-22-2003 01:01 PM

oh yeah, now i remember himlol,i was about 10 or 11 too

Bruce The Aussie 04-22-2003 04:42 PM

i feel so young and immature. i haven't a clue who your all talking about.

Gangrell 04-22-2003 04:48 PM

I was born in 87' so I'm not too sure who you're all talking about, but that was one of the best times for music ;)

Stormymystic 04-22-2003 04:49 PM

awww how old are you?if i may ask

Gangrell 04-22-2003 04:50 PM

I'm 15, i'll be 16 on May the 7th.

Stormymystic 04-22-2003 04:53 PM

awwwww still a baby,lol
you will feel like me when you are my age talking to people who are 15,lol

Gangrell 04-22-2003 04:56 PM

I say the "feeling old" part is all in the mind, and I say that because my parents usually say that to make me work around the house to get me off my game

Stormymystic 04-22-2003 05:04 PM

lol, i know what you mean, but remember my life has been one near death after another for the past 8 years, takes a toll on mind and body
as for why i say i feel old, it is 2003, i was born in 1976, times are so different now, and everything hs changed

Gangrell 04-22-2003 05:52 PM

Twenty-Seven isn't old in my point of view, but I'm not one to say yet I guess. Sorry to hear about whats happened in the last few years and I hope they get better.

Well, I have to agree with Gangrell, but experiences can take their toll. I also hope the worst are over, and that you'll feel better soon.

Yeah, Cliff ruled. Damn, I missed Metallica on IW Raido? Ah well..I will tune in longer next time.

antryg 04-23-2003 01:19 AM

I'm sorry but I must disagree with all you young pups (and kittens in Z's case). If we are going to talk bass then let's put up Les Claypool for the younger set and Stanley Clarke THE ultimate bass player since the 70's. Before anybody screams, I'll give respect to the name of Bootsie Collins as well. Honarable mention goes to Chris Squire of Yes.

disagree??/ how can you not think he was the best of our time?
wonder who you claim is the best on the electric?steel?
my fav of all time is of course Hendrix

Cerek the Barbaric 04-23-2003 05:42 AM

{sigh}My favorite guitar player never seems to get any respect...I never hear him mentioned with the "greats", but I like his riffs better than anybody else I've ever heard...

His name is Angus Young.

Iron_Ranger 04-23-2003 05:48 AM

Cerek, I think Angus is one the the greats. No one in the last 30 years have or can match his style and energy. He is definilty awsome.

I dont listen to them as much as I use to, but I do still get an urge every once in a while.

Hey Ziroc, I have an idea. Maybe you could start a 'IW Raido Request Thread' and make it a sticky (or not) and so people can post what they would like to hear when you have it on. Just an idea.

Epona 04-23-2003 05:49 AM

Good grief, you are all so young! (Those of you that posted up their ages).

Does this mean I'm officially an IW old codger? ???

Don't worry Epona, there's always me. I'm an even older fart than you. :D
