Yeah, having a Warcraft MMORPG is like having a liscence to print money.
Honestly, from the mere selling of licencses alone they've probably reaped in around 60mil.
And they're getting like 15 mil / month from subscribers.
That's more than some movies make in a YEAR. No wonder the video game industry outsells music and movies COMBINED.
Anywho, yeah, it rocks my socks. Beats EQ by a longshot. EQ blows ass compared to WoW. Would you rather spend 5 days to gain a level in EQ, or gain 5 levels in WoW? The lack of losing xp on dying is a HUGE plus. Makes the game SUPER noob friendly. Hell, that's one of the hugest reasons that I hated EQ. That and the players are asshats in EQ. In WoW some priest will walk by and cast improved fortitude on me for no reason. It rules.
The super high regen rate is also noob friendly. It makes it WAY easier to solo than EQ. Classes are relatively balanced, and there's a place for every one of them. Travel is comparitively WAY quicker than EQ, and the skills actually do stuff. Quests actually have a point to them, and their difficulty is already indicated. Elite monsters are the flipping bomb. I must say they are the best thing in the entire game. I'm currently farming Mo'Gorosh ogres with my Warrior. Mad XP and some good coin from the uncommons.
Dial-up users can actually play! Lag is a non-issue for melee classes because your attacks are queued. Heck, even like 600ping does practically nothing to delay anything.
Definitely worth $15 / mo. It kicks EQ's ass. D&D will never be as noob friendly as this game is. Never. Plus the fact that D&D will have a level cap of like 50 tops. Unless they gimp up the experience system everyone will be level 50 in like 3 months.
