Has anyone else noticed that advertiser's are beating us to death with the same stupid commercials over and over? It gets really bad when you see the exact same ad 3 times during a 1/2 hour News broadcast.
And all the stupid drug commercials lately. Just about every pill has side effects like diarrhea or abdominal pain. Can't they get the medicine right with out causing other problems. I think the drugs would be cheaper too, if they'd quit advertising so much. Sorry...Rant Off! Mark |
Ah, thats why I use pot for all my ailments! The only side effects are hunger, thirst and occassional paranoia! ;)
Tivo= commercial killer!!!!!!    |

I dont watch much tv but I have to agree. And on radio. That annoying Mitsubishi guy really gets on my nerves. I do remember a tv ad for Masingil (or however its spelled) where a daughter says "Mom, do you douche?" WAYYYYYY too much information lol
And I completely agree about your drug rant. Just last week I was prescribed some anti-inflammatories for a foot problem. After a couple days my stomach was in knots and...well guess the rest. And the doctor didnt warn me of this. After squandering $165 to see the idiot, $69 for the pills, and $60 for a follow-up visit. For nothing. |

re: pharmaceutical ads. During the testing phase and after a drug is released for public use they keep track of any/all side effects. If even one person has "stomach pains" while taking the drug and other causes are ruled out, then the manufacturer has to put "possible side effects include stomach pain"; this is an FDA regulation. They probably wouldn't have to put this in the TV commercial if people would read the fact sheet about the medication, which they probably don't. If you haven't, then read one sometime. Very interesting.
Anyway, advertising is a relatively small portion of a drug manufacturer's budget. Research & Development can be astronomical, though, especially once the testing phase begins--this requires medical liability insurance because someone might die or be injured. Medical liability insurance is really expensive. |
Well, I have noticed that the amount of prescription medicine advertising has increased exponentially for the last few years.
I'm not too keen on them, but I especially think the Viagra commercial where this guy's coworkers are trying to guess what is different about him is pretty stupid! Celebrex is annoying with the use of the Three Dog Night song "Celebrate", too! Look...more ranting!!! :D Mark |
I don't know if you guys in the States have this one, it's this annoying (i think it's Italian) Lady in a blue worksuit who dances around in the bathroom untill it's all shiny and looks like new. I believe it's an antikal commercial, and it's the most irritating thing i've ever seen in my life. Because of this commercial i'm pretty positive i'll never use the damn stuff. :D

What advertisers don't seem to understand, is that if they keep showing the same commercials more than once in a 1/2 hour slot, they will lose the buyer. It's just plain aggravating.
