The Metropolitan Blues Quartet = The Yardbirds

Blue Oyster Cult took their name from an anagram of the beer that they were drinking. 'Cully Stout Beer'

How about names bands could have had?

Before Journey recorded it's first album they were looking for that "just right" name and they had a contest. The names weren't very appealing, so a roadie suggested Journey and that's what they eventually went with.

The name that could have been?

One of the contest entries, my favorite, was "Rumpled Foreskin".
