My friend went to see the Hulk yesterday.

Not to give anything away but the bad points according to him.
1. Started off really slowly (When he buys the DVD he will fast forward the first half hour)
2. Split screens, for scenes. Why oh Why?

Special effects and action scenes were great, story was not great but decent. I am going tomorrow so I will let you know what I thought.

Having seen some previews I will definitely pass on this one.

The animation looks just plain bad.

True, the beginning is a little slow; I would have compressed the character introductions down a little, at least by 10 or 15 minutes. Peter had already been bitten and Matt had been blinded long before Bruce got irradiated. Oh, well....

The split screen effect is designed to make the movie look and feel more like a comic book; I really liked it (but watch Down With Love for a funnier use of split-screen shots [img]graemlins/laugh3.gif[/img] ). Being a fan of 24, I was already used to seeing the same scene from multiple angles. [img]graemlins/awesomework.gif[/img]

The ending was rather anti-climatic, though. It would have been better had Bruce's father allowed himself to be taken away and thus leave the conflict between the two of them to be resolved in a sequel.

The animation wasn't all that bad. I've seen worse animation in Disney movies, which are supposed to be animated, but that is simply one person's opinion. [img]graemlins/beigesmilewinkgrin.gif[/img]

The fact that Bruce suffers from a dissociative psychological disorder wasn't pursued enough, I think. The Hulk is simply a suppressed personality, the personality upon whom all the bottled-up emotions were dumped, that finally gets released.

All things considered, a good 7 out of 10. Unfortunately, I don't think it will live up to all its hype, but it was a good effort nonetheless.</font>

I have to say I found it a bit disappointing.

I would give it a 5 or 6 out of 10. Did like the battle with the tanks however. They still didn't explain how he gets the purple pants. Then when he gets small he has no pants.

While I liked 24, I think they really overused the split screen thing. I only saw a couple instances were it added to the movie. Usually it was distracting and annoying.

This movie is more of a rent able, go see Finding:Nemo, or wait for League of extraordinary gentlemen.

I've seen a bit too many superhero movies lately, so I guess I'll pass on this one as well.. Not to mention the fact that I don't have that much money left... :(

It's strange though about this green mean killing machine. When he is normal he has pants when he gets big he has shorts wouldn't the pants rip? I guess the directior knew that the auidenence didn't want to see a green giant naked. Don't picture that it is hazorardous to your health.

Saw it Saturday night in Nebraska.....
My summation is...Looooooooooooooooooooooooong and drawn out.
I got the feeling that this movie was only ment to do the back story and as a set up for a future release. All the action was in the last 45 minutes of the movie. All in all it was worth the $13 it cost me to take Mysticelt to see it, but I would have to say...it was at best a so-so movie.</font>

<font color=deepskyblue>Finally saw it tonight. I expected the long character set-up based on reviews I had read....so that wasn't really a problem. I didn't like the split screens, though - the only thing they "added" to the movie was major distraction. I also didn't care for the feature-length long flashback. I suppose it was necessary - given the way the story was written, but I was long past ready for them to "get to the point" by the time they actually did.

Animation sequences and CGI Hulk were actually far better than I expected. They could have made the Hulk look more real and less "cartoony", but it still looked better than I expected. I just hope they will learn from the mistakes in the Batman series about trying to make a movie that "looks like" a comic book. If people want a live-action comic book, they will watch a cartoon. I think this is where X-Men and Spiderman far exceed Hulk. Maybe the CGI team will go for a better look the second time around.

Two nice "hat tips" to the TV series....Lou Ferrigno with a cameo and Bruce Banner closing the movie with the line made classic by Bill Bixby... "Don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry".

Biggest "shock" was the choice of villains. I thought the Leader or Abomination would be the obvious choice for Hulk's "superpowered" nemesis. I like the effects regarding the villain, though. Those were the best special effects in the entire movie.

Overall, I have to agree with a 7 out of 10. It was worth seeing, and is even worth buying (IMHO). Now I'm just anxious to see next summer's remake of the Punisher!!!</font>

I'd write a lengthy review on the merits of this film, but I don't think that there would be words that would adequately describe how I felt watching it (not words I can use on a family forum anyway). That's gotta be this year's Oscar contender right there. :rolleyes:
