Big oops there on my entrants, Anah is correct, but I was entering Davis Lantian IW as my second. I've posted it here, let me know if I need to do anything else. I'm checking the time now, and getting the bracket.
Edit: OK, it's listed correctly on the bracket. As for the time, it's 6:00 in the afternoon here, which should probably be ok.

Hope to see everyone there.

Banned items I can live with but the 1.66 patch has changed the balance. Implosion (and to some extent Wail of the Basnhee and Phantasmal Killer) now hit the fighter based characters some of us have built.

Thanks again to T-D-C and robertthebard for pointing out that I should have read the small print in that patch.

Any chance of banning these spells? I'm sure the spellcasters are confident enough to live (or not) without them.

T-D-C 06-28-2005 07:19 PM

Unfortunatly we can't ban those spells as they wern't broken by the patch they are now working as intended.

Wail of the Banchee still gives you a fortitude save (IIRC) so fighters should be fine for that.

If we banned those spells then we would have to ban dev crit as well.

I think for this 1st (hopefully of many) tournament we will leave the rules and just ban items.

The next tournament we may look into changing some spells if it turns outt o be to unbalanced.

High saves will help you survive death spells, as will immunity to death magic. (But I dunno if implosion is covered under that)

But no matter how high your saves are, if you roll a 1, you fail the save anyways XD, so there's always that 5% chance it'll work regardless.

Immunity to death magic does not save you from implosion.

Legolas 06-29-2005 04:35 AM

Implosion allows for spell resistance and a fortitude save. Weird and Phantasmal Killer also bypass immunity to death magic now, allow spell resistance, and -two- saves.
On the same note, Flesh to Stone has bypassed the immunity for ages, allowing a save and spell resistance also.

T-D-C 06-29-2005 06:52 AM

Weird and Phantasmal Killer allow for a Will save and a fort save IIRC.

Immunity to death magic only protects from spells classed as death spells.

Xiphias 06-29-2005 09:00 AM

Is ring of harm banned as in you're not allowed to use it or not allowed to wear it? It does provide a useful +4 fortitude bonus when worn.

I would rather it started earlier than midnight for me but I can still make it.

If the image is too small for anyone else to see then just hit refresh.

Some of the DCs for dev crit are pretty scary, I'll just have to hope I'm lucky with my wizard since I won't be able to get the saves higher than about 38. (there is a +20 cap from items and spells)
