Please could someone help a frustrated newbie please ?
I'm sure that there is a simple solution to the ..An assertion failed in CStore.cpp at line number 177...error message that i keep getting.I seem to have downloaded and installed all the relevant patches,although on the main menu page i still show v1.3.062915 (whatever that is).I have installed both IWD and HoW and have just completed chapter2 and have returned to Kuldahar (with 2 dead!!) but cannot use the temple or weapon and potion stores as i keep getting this error...i also didn't find Egenia after killing the big bad snake woman.I also get an error message when trying to enter the HoW shack.
I love this game and want to get on,i would rather not restart and humbly request some assistance from the pantheon of omnipotents that occupy this forum.

Wrong patch.

Uninstall and prepare to reinstall in one of the following orders,

1) The ultimate patch would be Trials of the Luremaster, an official expansion cum patch that is only available through download.

- Install IWD
- Install HoW
- Install TotL

- Install IWD
- Install HoW
- Install HoW patch v1.41

Thanks for the speedy reply...i'm waiting in a queue to download TotL...i thought i had already installed the v1.41 patch.I guess this means that all the hard work i've put in so far has been totally wasted or could i at least save my characters..they are such a bunch of lovable rogues,scoudrels ,cads and bounders!!

You can save your characters and use them when you restart. Here's the process:

1) Export the characters
2) Copy the character files from the export file into another file
3) Re-install
4) Copy your character files back into the export file
5) When you create a new game, import your characters

Just remember that your containers (gem bags, potion boxes, etc) will NOT export. Also, IIRC plot or quest items will not export either. You will probably need to use the CreatItem cheat to recover any quest items.

Cant you just copy your saved games files instead of characters?? I'm sure that would work too.

Yeah, that should work, but archiving your characters isn't a bad thing to do either .... just in case. [img]smile.gif[/img]

You killed the snake lady in Dragon's Eye Level 5 (DE5). IIRC, you find Priestess Egenia (sp?) two levels before that, in DE3.
