In the foul darkness one figure will emerge to save the world from evil and despair.... Light flashes as his sword comes down, and thunder rolls through the sky when he points his sword up to heaven to signal his victory....People whisper his name as he walks by, evil tries to hide as they sense his presence nearby.... His name? Link......

These arguments are too long and drawn out.

Rangers should not be the only ones to specialise in dual weapons. I personally think asassins (sp, well puntuated celeb!) should get it, and I have no problems with fighters having it.

What I dont agree with is the fact that rangers take longer to level up than fighters, yet the only real extra power I have found useful with the ranger is the stealth, charm animals is pretty useless. Rangers need extra powers or a lower level up exp.

Feel free to argue, but like I say this is just my opinion.

As for archers I never really played with them much, They sound good, sooo good infact i'm considering them in a custom party i'm making, If anyone has any ideas on types of party members I would like to know.

So far I want to include:

Archer
Conjurer

IWD have it right...surely mages shouldn't be able to use two weaps!
This is why I say rangers have fallen below the great "line".
Apart from Archers, does anyone play any other ranger kits?

Oh this is not worth a thread so I'll ask here:
Can you back stab with two swords?

Bristowe 06-12-2001 02:04 PM

Geez...This topics been up for ages...

Anyway:
Rangers get huge huge huge bonuses to their ability scores when rolling them - i've said this before and so have some others

Stalkers being unable to wear more than studded L. i don't see as a disadvantage because they can't stealth with more than studded anyway.Oh, and they can backstab with two weapons in their hands...

Ranger spells are dodgy however, i'll admit that. >http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/frown.gif

I'd rather be called a 'Ranger' than 'Fighter'though... http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

Oh, and pay no attention to my sig. I do like Thieves as well...

Does anyone know what to exspect for the ranger (archer) in TOB? I have seen a thread about it somewhere some time ago but can't find it.

Well the knocked out the regular D&D ranger ability against their racial enemy. Rangers are suppose to do an extra point of damage per level against their racial enemy, thus a level 10 ranger would do +10 damage vs a beholder if a beholder was their racial enemy, but Baldur's gate lessed that ability to only a +4 chance to hit I believe. A big difference.
A Archer ranger really doesn't need a bonus to hit with their bow. +12 to hit is great vs a beholder, they don't really need +16 to hit, but that extra +15 damage per blow vs their ratial enemy would be excellent. Oh well.

Here's aquestion.

I went out the planer sphere with my archer into that hell like map to get the hearts. I thought I experiment and I used the holy power gizmo thingy (part of your main char special abbillity's I think) and I solo's the map in a few minutes killing all the demons! Is this soly because of your dexterity being raised to 21 (the raise in strength has no use to me being a archer)? What effect has dexterity exactly on ranged weapons anyway? The manual states a table for dex (117) with "AC adj" and "miss att adj". I see the first one but what does the latter one mean?

Get Infinity Explorer to look stats on Slayer.
Slayer has 4 attacks per round and high MR.

Hanz123 06-14-2001 01:13 PM

thanks but I didn't mean the slayer form but draw upon holy might, and with that actually any increase in dexterity. To be precize, what effect does dexerity have on ranged weapons?
