Actually some pickup lines can serve to break the ice and add a little levity. Heck, I still use pickup lines on my wife!!

And after all these years, do they still work on her?

Depending on how that line is delivered it can serve as either an ice breaker or an ice maker...definitely don't be eyeing a woman up and down when asking! Eye contact is important if you want her to think you found her special, even if what attracted you to her in the first place was just the size of her knockers. ;) :D

Eyecontact is overrated. It's more important to measure up the length of the legs first. :D

You never know Melkor, he might have a point, as horribly disturbing a concept as that might be.

Just try forgetting that she's a (hopefully) hot girl you want to go out with. Just treat her like a friend, minus those rude jokes! ;)
This technique also makes it easier to ask her out. How hard is it to ask one of your friends to go do something?

Well, if you want them to laugh, you should use real cheesy sentences, like LS says on page 1.
Some other examples:
"Have you got a map, cos I got lost in your eyes."
"I've lost my phonenumber, can I borrow yours?"
*get a coke with some ice first, then take out the ice, and throw it on the ground, saying* "Now the ice is broken"

Really funny, if you ask me, I use them every once in a while :D

More or less just scripted speech used to open up a line of conversation between yourself and a woman that you don't know.
See Link's examples above.
