At 12-14 they may be considered old enough to marry, but that in no way means that they all ARE. At a guess I would say there are far more women than men in Afghanistan these days, due to the fact that they've been fighting for 20 years. Some children may be married that young, but others will still be in their parents household for several years yet. What parent on earth would say, ok you're 12 now, get out and fend for yourself? Besides the fact that the Mujadin may have raped and brutalized the women, but they did NOT forbid them from working. That was the Taliban.
