Turin
"He has a point, Robyn. What are you going to do with that poor pup when we get back to the city? You may not be allowed to keep it if the Snake sees it. By the way...I found a little gold and a ring back in the cave. Nothing else was worth keeping. do you think our elf-friend would know to discern if there are some power to this ring? It appears quite exquisite." The two continued to lug the wounded man down the windy path from which they came. After a while, Turin swore a curse. "I have made a fool of myself! We were supposed to bring the hides back to the creep for proof! What do we do now? Go back? We have only been walking for ten minutes." |
Robyn Stratsworth
"It is only a pup, it would not be able to cause any harm. I think I shall keep it. Besides after some training it should do what I tell it to." They then continued carrying Roland, until Turin suddenly realised that they had forgotten the furs. "It would be of no use for us to carry back Roland. You go back and get the furs, while I look after Roland." |
Turin
"Alright. I will do that. I am not far away. If any trouble were to present itself, I am just up that hill, but still should be able to hear your call." With that, Turin hurried up the hill, though moved abit slower than he could have. His shoulder was beginning to hurt alot, and the bite on his arm was also bothering him. He certainly did not want to take attention off of Roland to whine about his own scratches, but now he was wondering if he should have said something. After about fifteen minutes, he came upon the site where the corpses lay on the ground. He took out a knife for carving food and began to dehide the animals of their semi-precious fur. |
OOC>> sorry for the delay guys..had a problem with my eye, needed laser surgery and all, so i might not be around for a while. surgery is jun 8th, so i probably wont be around for a week or so...
Terias: Seeing that only two guards remained, Terias Signaled his companion to take on one and he himself striked one with another fireball. |
For Terias:
The fireball which Terias sent at the guard blew him to pieces slightly dazing the other one aswell, so Oronuin easily took care of him with the dagger. The two of them ran to the gate. A wheel in the wall could be used to turn the gate. Beyond the gate a staircase could be seen spiraling up. The fire which Terias had set to the barrels of straw was starting to get out of control. Already two of the orcish guards who had tried to put it out had caught fire and were thrashing on the ground in agony. The temperature got high enough so that the plant life forms which could be found on the stone walls of the dungeon also caught fire. A thich smoke was moving through the gate and up the stairway. OOC: Kirūn and Bober can also feel that there is a rather large fire on some lower level. |
For Turin:
The wolves's hides were surprisingly difficult to take off of them. But surprisingly they were very light of weight. The seven furs together did not weigh more than two or three normal wolf furs would have. |
Kirūn
Breathing deeply and pulling one of his beard braids absently, Kirūn stood a moment in thought. Peering at Bober from under bushy brows, he sighed. "Laddy, I be wantin to take a look at this here fire I be smellin. Jest wantin to see what all the hubbub is about." He fingered his battle-axe and looked at the stairs leading downwards. "Why don't ye follow a bit behind me so we don't get a jumped on? Hmm?" Without another word, he cinched his pack straps and checked the location of his smaller weapons and other items tucked in his wide waist belt. Glancing back for a moment, he looked questioningly at Bober. Shrugging, he straightened his helm, put a hand on the half of his battle-axe and dissapeared through the gaping archway. |
For Kirūn and Terias:
You go down the stairs towards the lower levels. You pass several similar archways as the one on the level for guests. He could also see several deserted guard posts. Evidently the guards had gone to fight the fire. Kirūn then reached the lowest level. The smoke was starting to get extremely thick and it was beginning to get harder to breathe. After the stairs on the lowest level a small open space could be seen, where six guards could be found. They were all lying unconscious on the ground from inhaling too much smoke. Through a metal portcullis type door Kirūn could see the source of the fire which seemed to be some already half burnt barrels. The fire had already spread to the walls and was spreading fast. On the other side of the portcullis Kirūn can just spot Terias and a man unknown to him making their way towards the metal door. OOC: the door can be opened from both side by turning a wheel embedded into the wall next to the portcullis, which can be turned from both sides. It requires at least two people to turn it. |
Turin
Pleased with his work, he now needed to run back to Roland and Robyn, who were waiting on him down the pathway. As he stood, the ring that he had found in the cave fell from his pocket. He reached down to pick it up. Turning it over idly in his hand to admire it, he decided to slip it on his finger instead of pocketing it again to make sure that it did not fall out. Apparently, he had a hole that needed mending. He was thankful that the furs weight close to nothing, as his arm, shoulder, and back ached from the attacks. Yet by the time he reached his two companions that were waiting for him...the pain had lessoned to a comfortable level. He was surprised that he did not hurt worse by now. he could not see the bite on his shoulder, but knew that it had stopped bleeding a few minutes ago. His arm also seemed to be healing rather well. It was odd, but he was thankful. He reached his two friends and showed them the furs. |
Robyn Stratsworth
"Ah I see you managed to get all of the furs. Lets cover Roland with some of them and you carry the rest." She proceeded in putting three of the wolf furs on the lying figure of Roland to keep him warm. Robyn and Turin then picked up the two branches and started carrying Roland. Where Robyn's arm had been bit it was starting to get much more painful, due to the weight it had to carry. She tried disregarding the pain, but it kept coming back stronger and stronger. "My arm... It's not strong enough to carry Roland."-she said to Turin and gently set down her side of the bed clutching her injured arm as the pain momentarily lessened. She started rummaging in her bag and then took out some berries. "These berries are used by some as drugs. They take away pain and heighten senses, but are extremely addictive so I use them rarely." She put one of them in her mouth and chew on it, and after she had sucked all the juice out of it she spat out the skin of the berry. It took a few moments before she felt the pain lessen. "Oh yes, one more thing, the skin of the berries is slightly poisonous so do not swallow it. Do you two want some berries?"-she asked of Turin and Roland. |
Turin
"Actually, my wounds seem to be less of a pain than I would have imagined now. My shoulder is not hurting at all, and my arm..." Turin looked down at his arm, where he expected to see a gash that was scabbed over. What he saw instead was a light pink scar. He gasped in surprise. The next thing he thought of was how little his shoulder actually hurt. It had been aching pretty good about an hour ago. "That's strange...I am healing faster than I think is actually natural. But...how can that be?" |
Robyn
"Let me see!... This is remarkable. Your wounds seem to heal much faster that normal indeed. Have you been ravaging my medical supplies?" |
Turin
"Of course not! I do not understand it. It seemed to be noticeable after I finished skinning the wolves. Maybe their blood has some healing effects. is that possible? You are the one that dwelt with elves. What is your take on it?" |
Robyn
"If their blood had healing effects then Roland would have no problems. He is nearly covered in their blood... No it has to be something different. What else did you do while you were skinning the wolves?" -she asked, and while letting Turin have some time to think about it she looked all over him. All of his wounds looked as if they had been healing for at least one or two days. She then noticed the ring on Turin's finger. "I never noticed you wearing that ring before. Is it the one you found in the wolves' lair?" |
Turin
"Oh yeah...it is. I had dropped it a while ago as I must have a hole in my pocket, and decided to put it on as I was finishing up cleaning the skins of the animals." Turin just looked at the ring for a minute, admiring it's sparkle. Then he looked at Robyn who appeared to have a look of fascination on her face. He wondered if it was the ring she was admiring. Then he looked back down to the ring...and the idea suddenly and silently crept into his mind. He looked to Robyn again with a curious bewilderment, as though the thought struck him like cold water to the face. He managed to squeak out his next words..."Do you think the ring healed me?" He quickly removes the ring and hands it to her. "Quick! Put it on and see if anything happens, or give it to Roland! I think the ring healed me! It must be an elven construction!" |
Robyn
"Some magical rings may have healing abilities, but I can not determine that. If Easthome allows us to see Therlion then he may be able to determine the exact powers of the ring."-she said in answer to Turin's question of whether the ring could have healed him. She then took the ring from him as he handed it to her and put it onto her finger. She slowly started feeling her pain lessen. Then suddenly ashamed of herself she took the ring off and put it on Roland's finger. "Roland, you have a greater need for this ring's healing powers right now. And besides I can keep going with the berry for some time." OOC:Turin's reward is a ring which heals wounds slowly over time. It does not prevent wounds, nor heal from serious wounds (for example it isn't able to stick back a cut off limb). It heals any surface wound in three hours and deep wounds in 24 hours. Of course before identification the group can only have a vague idea of the ring's healing capabilities. And of course Turin's reward point go down to 6. |
The wolfpup
The wolfpup had been following in Robyn's footsteps all along playfully running between her feet some times and at other times having mock combats with Robyn's shadow. When the group stopped the wolfpup watched with interest what they were doing although it could not comprehend everything which was going on. Seeing that Robyn had put down the berries on top of her rucksack the pup ran over there and sniffed the berries. Finding the smell interesting it then licked one of them. It found the taste strange, but since it hadn't had anything to eat for nearly half a day it tried out one of the berries. The wolfpup liked the taste. One by one it eat all of the other berries, not knowing about the slightly poisonous effect the skin of the berries had. It felt much more energy flowing through it than usual. It bounded around the legs of Turin and Robyn playfully as if inviting them to play with it. Robyn looked at the wolfpup with a smile. "I think we should give him a name. Have you got any suggestions?"-she asked her two companions. |
For Therlion (just so he doesn't get bored all alone ):
A guard came to see him the morning of the day after he met with Kalam in the inn. "Lord Easthome has requested your presence at the execution of the ex-captain fo the guard , since it was essentially you who unmasked his treachery. Follow me. The guard led Therlion through several side streets of the small town and finally they arrived at the main square, where in the middle of a crowd of about five hundred people a wooden stage could be seen. The guard led Therlion around the crowd and into one of the buildings on the far side of the square. After going up a flight of steps the guard opened a door, announced Therlion to those in the room and left. In the room along with several guards was Lord Easthome his son and the new captain of the guard. "Ah Therlion. You not only saved my daughter's life yesterday, but you also saved me much trouble should this rebellious captain been able to act longer. The note you found on the assassin essentially contained everything we needed to take care of this problem. I owe you some gratitude, and my son spoke well of you from the meeting he had with you yesterday. From now on you have the freedom to walk around the city without the guard accompanying you. He shall however stay in the same building as you to watch over your safety when you are there and also he can get hold of me or my son, should you need to talk to any of us." A guard opened the door and announced that the execution was about to begin in the square below them. Lord Eatshome moved over to one of the two windows, while Kalam indicated to Therlion to go with him to the other window. While in the square below the ex-guard captain was brought forth by several guards and an executioner with an axe made his way to the podium Kalam spoke in a whispered voice to Therlion. "I shall need to speak with Turin and his two companions once they get back. They shall probably see you before they see me, so could you just tell them that I wish to speak with them." The man who was going to be executed although struggling mightily against his fate was half dragged, half pushed up to the podium, where he was made to kneel down and place his neck over a small wooden block. Four guards were needed to hold him in place. After an announcer read something to the crowd of which nothing could be heard of in the room, the executioner's axe descended. Lord Easthome turned to his new captain of the guard. "You now know what happens to those who betray me. See to it that all of the rebels are routed out of the city." Lord Easthome departed along with all the guards and the new captain of the guard followed shortly afterwards letting Therlion reply to Kalam at his leisure. The pain was ebbing away some. But it was still so high that that he cannot move without mort hurt. But at least I am feeling less pain.. Roland thought and looked at the wolf pup. "Is the pup a boy or girl? If a boy Greywind or a girl Nymeria."
OOC: I admit I got the names from Martins Song of Ice and Fire :D |
"As if jail wasn't enough. Your father holds a tight leash on the people here." Therlion said when the last man left the room. "Now that I have my freedom without that guard at my back, I will probably be able to meet with Turin and the others before anyone, so I shall arrange a meeting in secrecy."
"Where is your sister? I have been appointed by your father to tutor her, but we haven't had a single lesson yet." [ 06-03-2004, 06:38 PM: Message edited by: Bozos of Bones ] |
Kalam Easthome
"My sister is currently trying to get over the shock of the assassination attempt against her. She told me to tell you that she shall send for you when she is ready to see you." |
Robyn
Robyn chechked whether the pup was a boy or a girl. "It is a boy. He shall be called Greywind then. I think it is time we moved on." Robyn and Turin took hold of the improvised bed and carried Roland on. From the lair of the wolves it was a two day journey and they were hindered by having to carry Roland so they would be able to make the journey in about two and a half days. OOC: I shall check the scattered groups in the game for timeline issues and then post for the group when they get back. I don't plan anything (yet) to happen with them on the journey. |
Greywind, the wolfpup
Greywind started feeling strange about half an hour after he eat all of the berries. He started to feel weaker and his stomach seemed to be in a bad situation. He was a few meters ahead of the group when he suddenly threw up the contents of his morning meal in the grass. Putting down the bed Roby walked over to him and then smelling the vomit she immediately realised what had happened. "It seems Greywind has eaten all or most of my berries. He shall get over it soon, and it should be a good lesson for him not to eat any of my medical supplies. However since Greywind was pretty weak from the slight poisoning Robyn picked him up and placed him at Roland's feet on the litter, where the pup promptly fell asleep. And the group of three continued their journey. |
OOC: Xen doesn't seem to be able to follow the roleplay too well, so until he is able to get back into it I am temporarily removing his character from the game.
For Bober: Bober was just going to wait a few secons before following Kirūn down the winding staircase to check out the source of the smoke, but he suddenly felt a hand on his shoulder. A group of two dozen guards stood behind him. There were dwarves among them, who could actually tell the difference between other dwarves "Well, if it ain't Bober, you traitor."-spat one of the dwarves at him. A five minute long struggle followed at the end of which three of the guards lay dead on the ground and several of them got wounded, but Bober was captured and put into chains taken to a part of the stronghold, where dwarvish captives were held. |
Kirūn
Kirūn glanced in the direction of the approaching Terias and his unknown companion beyond the gated doorway and then back towards the catamose guards. He spat on one hand and took a grip on his great battle-axe. Striding towards the guards he systematically proceeded to kill each with a quick stroke. "No need to leave enemies behind," he muttered to himself. Coming to the last, he hefted his axe for the fatal stroke, but stopped and dropped it to the floor with a huff. Hurriedly fishing out a rope from his pack, he flipped the man over and securely tied his hands and feet together, gagged him, and stripped him of all his weapons. Dragging him across to the wall, he plopped him there and went to retrieve his axe. He moved back towards the gateway. Warily keeping an eye behind him due to Bober's lack of appearing and hoping Therias wouldn't burn him to a cinder, he called out, "Therias, damn ye elf, I'm glad to see ye! Over here, on the other side of this portcullis, see if ye two can crank her open!" |
OOC: I still haven't gotten a reply to my question in the discussion thread from Cienden or from The Fallen One, but since I'll surely have future opportunities to smoothe out the timeline issues I shall move the game on for Turin and his group.
For Turin and group: The journey backward was uneventful. A lone grey wolf had been seen on the horizon the second day of the journey, but it had been alone and no threat to the party. Thanks to the magical ring found in the silver wolves' lair Robyn and Turin managed to recover quite well, while Roland only had some of his deepest injuries which still hurt him, the rest became merely scars. In the mid afternoon of the third day since they set out from the wolves' lair they spotted Lord Easthome's town. The guards at the gates recognized them and let them through. OOC: All signs of the fighting three days before had been erased, so Turin, Robyn and Roland are totally unaware of what had happened during their absence. |
Turin
The stout man was feeling good. He was ready to get on with his mission and eliminate the allies of Morgoth, and now that he had the confidence of the very man in charge of this city's evil, it would not be hard to begin. Turin spoke to the nearest guard. "We request a meeting with Lord Eatshome please. He will be expecting us." |
OOC: Roland can now walk, but is in pain when he does so.
For Turin "Wait here please!"-said the guard and walked off into a small sidestreet. Fifteen minutes later he came back. "Follow me!"-he said, and led the group to the building where Lord Easthome had seen them previously. But they were taken to a small room at the back of the building. Maps and weapons were on display in the room. Lord Easthome was examining one of the maps when they entered the room. "I was expecting you to get back yesterday. But I see that you have the furs. Did you perchance encounter any trouble?" |
Turin
"No trouble that the three of us could not handle with the experience and resources that we are equipped with. These wolves put up a valiant fight, and died in honor against us. Now we expect you to hold true to your end of the agreement." |
Lord Easthome
"As far as I can remember the agreement was that you keep half the furs and the rest get distributed to the poor. I see that you have brought seven wolf furs back. I say you keep four of them. But my question is how would you distribute three wolf furs among several hundred people?" |
"These silver back furs must be worth much. I doubt these kind of furs are common in this reigon. With the money we receive after selling them, we would donate the gold to the poor so they can purchase clothes and food."
|
Turin
"What my brother has said is true. The money will buy many people appropriate necessities. We also asked that we be allowed to become citizens of this town, and you suggested we prove our loyalty by performing this deed. Will you now honor our request?" [ 06-09-2004, 03:55 PM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ] |
Lord Easthome
"Oh, yes I nearly forgot about that part of the agreement. Of course I shall allow you to become citizens. You have performed a task at which I had already lost dozens of men. Incidentally there is a house at the western edge of the town, the occupants of which deceased in the last three days. You can have it for twelve thousand gold pieces if you wish." "About the poor and the wolf furs. If you give me four of the furs I shall halve this month's taxes for the poorest in the town. Will you accept that?" |
For Terias and Kirūn: OOC: since Terias said he wasn't going to be available for some time, I'll just move it along a bit.
Terias and his human companion opened the gate by turning the big wheel. The human walked over to Kirūn and introduced himself: "I am called Oronuin. I have been a slave here for several years now. Lead the way out of here." |
Roland faces Turin "It might mean less for us but it would mean more gold for the people who need it more than we do."
|
Turin
It sounds like a fair and reasonable agreement. I will pay what you asked, and give you the furs for the taxes you mentioned. Thank you for your help. If that be all, I would like to be shown this house now that we have purchased. |
For Turin's group:
The new guard captain led them towards a house on the edge of the town. While they were going towards the house none of them noticed an elf observing them from a window of a two storey house. It was a one storey house with two bedrooms in it, a decent sized kitchen and a room with a fireplace and several paintings on the walls. Apart from the paintings and the furniture everything had been removed from the house. "This house was that of my predecessor."-said the guard captain. OOC: Therlion has spotted that Turin, Robyn and Roland have returned. [ 06-11-2004, 02:13 AM: Message edited by: dplax ] |
Roland looked around their home and a faint smiled slowly appeared. I feel although it has been ages since we all slept on soft beds. He wandered away from everyone else and continued looking everywhere in the house. His leg still pained him whenever he walked, thankfully though each hour the pain seems to ebbing away a little.

OOC>>Correct me if I am wrong, but was not the new captain of the guard referring to his predessesor being the former captain of the guard, in which case that was the "good-guy" son of the evil guy that owns this city? The one we met on the road? I do not want to dig back to find the page, so yell at me if I am wrong.
Turin Turin kept silent but in his head he was trying to sort out what had just been learned. Obviously, this was the home of the previous Captain and now he was gone. What had happened to him? What had the Lord said about this place and how it had come to be available? Turin cursed his ignorance and took his mind off of it by wondering about the elf. Where was he in all this city? It was near time to make the move, and if the elf had been able to, he'd have seen enough of this city to have a plan formulated on attack time, who to remove, and how to sneak about. They just had to find him now. OOC>>>Have we been left to ourselves now, or is the guard captain still with us? |
OOC: nope, the captain was the man who was beheaded yesterday. A conspirator who had no idea that the son was actually on his side.
IC: Therlion walked until he was close enough to the house to try and read a mind, but not close enough to be seen. He saw Roland standing just outside the house and he thought "Turn. Just turn." He got ready to probe the man's mind, hoping he would recognise the feeling and turn to see who was doing it. Taking one last look around himself, to make sure he wasn't noticed he started.
