He does sound happy, but what he says is correct as well. The moderates in the party will now have more power than ever, which will tend to keep things centered instead of listing to the starboard

I wasn't surprised by the Republican victories, because the Democrats didn't have a cohesive national strategy. Al Gore (you know he has to be thinking of running in 2004) was very wise to be invisible during this whole process, even though he is the de facto leader of the Democrats. Another immediate effect of the victory: Richard Gephardt is going to resign as minority leader in the House.

Given the decision today by the Fed to lower their interest rate to 1.25% means that you'll most likely see another round of tax cuts next year, especially for businesses. Also, Bush will probably try to open up the Alaskan reserves for more exploration, too. (or did he already do that?)

Unless Bush really screws up or the Democrats get it together now, Bush will earn a reelection in 2004.

Ar-Cunin, I just read that the rest of the world is "stunned and shocked" that the US public is so approving of the president that they persist in trying to perceive as a dimwit. I still think that one of GWB's greatest assets is that his opponents, here and abroad, seriously underestimate him. ;)
That's MIS-UNDERESTIMATE him :D ROTFLMAO.
